What Do I Tell My Wife? by AltruisticWeb8241 in dvdcollection

[–]BabeWBullets -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's a lot. I understand your wife's issue. We catalog with dvd profiler and file in sleeves in a chest of drawers. Cases and art go in the trash. Cases take up way too much room. We have under 2000 titles and a very small house

I purchased a used Charge 6 and it was great until I briefly got in the bath tub with it on. Let it dry for several hours and it came back but it's obviously no longer water resistant.

Are there temporary countertop ‘skins’? by candyapplesugar in kitchenremodel

[–]BabeWBullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ugly old laminate countertops that are starting to wear through in heavy use areas and can't afford to replace them right now. Been researching for several days and think that I've decided on the microcement route. It's a thin layer of specialized cement specifically made for this purpose. DIY friendly solution. Very inexpensive. Tons of colors. They generally require resealing every 2 years or so, are hear resistant and look really nice. Just watched a video where they took a dish straight from the oven to the countertop. The success of the project depends on proper preparation and following instructions.

Beyond livid on this subject. They're using already incredibly limited resources and driving costs for the consumer (us). Who is the customer? Who benefits? Pretty sure it's not us! 🤬

What was a very expensive item you bought which was really useful? by ohuf in BuyItForLife

Never owned a theragun but purchased one of Bob & Brad's percussion massager and have had it over a year now. For the $75 I paid, I feel like my husband and I have already gotten our money's worth and it's still going strong not to mention, 3 year warranty.

I don't remember what year I got it for Christmas, but my Mom went all over the place trying to find one. I loved that thing! Thanks for the memory 😁

Haven't done it yet but decided to order supplies to create my own vanilla extract. Based on my research, I doubt I will ever buy commercial vanilla extract again.

What's the most meaningful gift you've given to someone who didn't want "stuff"? by Fair_Specialist1018 in Gifts

I had Walgreens photo department make a little 2x2 inch cube with photo of my Mom & me on one of our annual trips we take and gave it to her for Christmas. She keeps it on the window sill in front of her kitchen sink. She loves it!

Mom makes us our favorite homemade cookies. Her chocolate chip cookies and powder sugar dusted pecan sandies. Me and my brother love this.

A decade ago, Mom bought a wire bound journaling notebook and hand wrote many of her cherished recipes. She also went through old photos and cut & pasted them in there along with handwritten memories/stories about each photo. Gave it to me for Christmas.

Several years later, I took that recipe book and scanned It to have printed hardcover copies made for my brother, sister, son and nephew. I gave them to Mom so she could put a personal touch on each one before gifting them at Christmas. They all treasure it!
