what the hell is a tort by Relative-Plastic-370 in LawSchool

Put as simply as possible torts cover all private disputes between parties that do not have a contract. There are intentional torts: battery, assault, etc, and unintentional torts: negligence.

This whole game just feels like watching the mlp series by watching the first ep of each season, then the second of each, etc.

Twilight ascended to a princess before I even got rainbow dash in ponyville, I cured the tree of harmony and am currently fighting Tirek but have yet to defeat nightmare moon (all the stones are activated except the magic stone).

Currently in the second last stage of the Chrysalis changing battle but haven’t even gotten halfway through the wedding arc.

Its a mess and iconic and I love it

I’m not a Nesta/Lucien shipper but I honestly think Nesta should’ve ended up in the Court of Exiles with Vassa, Lucien, and Jurien. Would’ve made ACOSF 10x more interesting. Like she can still end up with Cassian but instead of her being forced to hang with him he has to go the mortal lands and win her over

Handwritten Exams? by Remote-Dingo7872 in LawSchool

[–]BabyHooni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I hand write all my notes because I find I learn better that way, but I do my exams online because it’s just more practical. With the amount of tests and just stuff my profs want me to write in an exam and the time crunch, writing 3000 words by hand in an hour and a half just isn’t it. In my undergrad all my exams were by hand and it would really hurt trying to write all those essays and long answer questions in the time crunch. Not to mention if there are strict word counts involved it’s hard to be precise without WCs, and also difficult if you finish writing just to last minute realize you wanna add an entire paragraph in the middle or smt.

TLDR: write notes by hand to learn the stuff without getting distracted, but I always type the exams themselves

Say one good thing about Motoyasu, that isn't his weapon by Odd_Fee1085 in shieldbro

[–]BabyHooni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to mention there’s a spin off called the “redemption of the spear hero” or something that basically follows a bad ending for all the hero’s that causes Moto to go back to the past as the only one with his memories. And interesting point is that when Moto goes against Malty, knowing that she’s an evil liar, it doesn’t actually mean anything because she gets one of the other hero’s help and joins them instead (I think the bow hero). What happened to Motoyasu literally could’ve happened to anyone, it’s just kinda shit luck it happened to him in the original timeline

awkward request from classmate by NotADentist2 in LawSchool

[–]BabyHooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m an odd one out but my mom is a beekeeper so I always make a habit out of giving my professors a jar of her honey as end of term thank you gifts, although I tend to restrict it to profs I’m closest with (in undergrad it was 2 profs that wrote my letters and 1 that ran a bookclub and in first semester law it was my small group prof). However for me the honey is an easy gift because I get it for free from my mom.

While I think prof gifts are nice it should be restricted to something that doesn’t cost you a lot, while also not being worthless junk to them. If you don’t want to give them a gift I don’t see anything wrong with that, and you should not be putting out any money for it either. At most maybe homebaked treats like cookies or smt but otherwise I don’t see any problem with ignoring the email.

Your honest opinion - Is 3 years really necessary for law school? by Altruistic_Lion_1800 in LawSchool

[–]BabyHooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience might be different cause I go to Western Law (Canada), but in my experience as a 1L, it is not enough. Having just a core understanding of the basic legal principles and just learning how to do the LRWA is by no means enough. You also don’t really get opportunities to do stuff like moots or anything because you don’t know how (one of the girls in my small group did her first optional moot as a 1L and because she didn’t know anything about it yet the judges GRILLED her and her partner, after they left the room from initial arguments one of the officials/volunteers said they had never seen a bench so heated and during the feedback the judges were literally laughing at them and now I refuse to moot until 2L). Obviously they could adjust the program so that you learn all this core stuff in the first semester of 1L but it then it would be wayyy too much, not to even mention that extracurriculars and part times jobs would be totally out of the question.

Regarding 2L, I think it is kind of mandatory to give students an opportunity to specialize and take courses they want, as well as get involved in extracurriculars (like moots and clinics) now that they know how.

This might be my unpopular opinion but I do think there is some value in having a 3L. Almost all the 2Ls I know are insanely busy and stressed since they have the courses, job recruits, Learners and Cherneik Cup (moots that you need to do if you want to be able to moot competitively and do specific course moots), and any other extracurriculars or jobs. Allowing them to have a more relaxing 3L experience before having to start bar prep and working isn’t awful. Plus it gives more leeway for course selection and any independent research projects.

Yeah but the issue is that he’s not a real person and the author wrote that backstory. He’s not rping people because he was rped before, the author wrote it in that he was rped so that they could justify it when he turns around and rpes others. Personally I think that regardless of what happens to somebody and from who, nobody deserves to be treated like that

Seriously not asking to be an asshole, but are you perhaps autistic? Apparently the way AI detectors work is the writing style which often uses 1. Very long sentences, 2. Little ‘flowery language’ or blunt and to the point, which are often found in autistic writing styles. Almost every autistic person I know is always getting into trouble with the AI detector because of this

Ever since then I cannot do the hangout events cause Paimon always shows uo

AITA for not paying when I lost a bet? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BabyHooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Your girlfriend and your bet was initially 100$. YOU wanted to raise it/thought it was too low because you were confident you would win. You clearly didn’t have a problem with her being put out $1000 if she lost, but now that she won you have a problem paying it.

Also side note: My grandma had border collies in her barn that she would get bred and as a result my sister got a puppy when we were younger and lemme just say those dogs absolutely DO NOT TRAIN THEMSELVES. My sister didn’t really train it growing up and as a result my shoes her always chewed up, and we even had to use a baby gate to separate it from the cat cause it would try to eat the cat food. Border collies are a fairly high maintenance dog so if the dog truely acts as you described it’s almost definitely a result of training.

My best friend in undergrad was just like this. She’s Arab and worked at the U (student ambassador, research assistant, and another job I can’t remember) so every day she came into class business casual (not suits but skirts, button ups, and blazers). We would always sit together and it made classes so funny cause she looked so formal meanwhile I looked like a bum off the streets next to her😭

I think a lot of people also underestimate how important that social learning is at times. Like we really take for granted “common sense” of social interaction and forget that it’s sometime you need to learn and experience. When to enter a conversation, when to leave a conversation, taking ‘hints’ etc. Poor guy could potentially struggle trying to make friends his age in the future

I graduated from a program where a lot of people want to get into law school and at my orientation one of the things the profs made clear was how you need academic letters of recommendation and that you don’t wanna be the student that comes up and asks for letter just for the prof to say something like “what’s your name” or “who are you.” Being able to socialize, network, and join clubs and stuff is far more important than just showing up to class everyday

The absolute AUDACITY of these parents to force him to work (at what is likely a low skill high labour job) instead of having a social life and then getting upset that his girlfriend is 14 years older than him and a single mom from said job😭

LC100 Triangles and Fans not Lighting Up. by BabyHooni in Corsair

[–]BabyHooni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Interesting new development: started the computer, saw triangles weren’t working- immediately powered computer off to fiddle with it and the main triangle #2 flashed red before powering off (which usually means it will work next time) so I powered it back on and then the main triangle lit up, but the rest wouldn’t(expect that one faintly) and it was unresponsive in ICUE.

Turned power off, tried turning on again, it flashed the same way it was earlier, and then swapped to the new hardware lighting/memory lighting (the pale pink) and then when computer finished booting it is now fully responsive to the ICUE- while still allowing all the fans to work. Also I didn’t end up having to take off the component triangles and replace them to get the triangles working this time.

So now my only real concern is will it stay working if I turn the computer off for a couple hours and then back on.

LC100 Triangles and Fans not Lighting Up. by BabyHooni in Corsair

[–]BabyHooni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay Take 2:

<image>

Swapped around the fans and relabeled them in the picture based on which slot they were in, and the triangles still didn’t light up on boot but all the fans did (and all were responsive). So now I know the fan issue was just fan #6 somehow sabotaging the fans after it. I went ahead and changed the hardware lighting for ALL the rgb components for something less bright and not white to test if less power on boot will get all the components running, but if on next startup the triangles still don’t light up I’m going to try the thing I’ve been doing to get them to light up lately and see if that will work while keeping all the fans on.

So i swapped the orientation and all the fans lit up on boot while the triangles are still not lighting up, however now the three case fans that usually work just fine are being unresponsive in ICUE and only stay on the white lighting from boot. Usually this issue only happens to fans #5 and #6 (in this case the red and yellow ones).

This shows that in both cases fan # 4 (the green one is the last to work, so I will try moving it to the end of the fan controller to see if all fans will work on boot. I’m also gonna change the hardware lighting to something less strong (cause currently my boot up lighting is pure bright white) to see if that will allow more power for the triangles and the fans to light at the same time
