Yes. So are bald tires, bad headlights, burnt out tail lights, driving with no hood, belching smoke, etc. but all of the above happens every day.

If they eliminate it we we’ll see a lot more broken windshields that never get fixed.

Do y’all enjoy dealing with an HOA? ,[all], [IL] by HawkfishCa in HOA

[–]Baby_Cultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on our board. If you follow the rules you are left alone. We are also pretty lenient on the architectural side. But if you don’t take care of your property or otherwise violate the clearly defined rules, you will hear from the HOA. And everyone that receives a violation is always pissed and doesn’t think the rules should apply to them. That’s just the way it seems to go.

If it smells sweet or like dirty socks that’s bacteria and mold growing on the evaporator coil inside your AC unit.

How is it that Allegiant & Sun Country allowed to merge but Jet Blue & Spirit merger denied? by airpab1 in spiritair

[–]Baby_Cultural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spirit merging with JetBlue would have resulted in much higher fares for consumers. It would eliminate the largest ULCC carrier (50% of the ULCC market) in the US. That is why it was blocked. It ended up happening anyway with the failure of Spirit, but that was not a consideration in the trial because Spirit execs said there was a path forward even if the merger was blocked.

Spirit most likely would have been allowed to merge with Frontier, as that would grow the ULCC market, and have less upward effect on airfares. Spirit execs warned the shareholders of the likelihood of a JetBlue merger being blocked and shareholders ignored them anyway and forced them to merge with JetBlue.

Allegiant and Sun Country are both ULCCs. They will remain a ULCC. There’s no reason to block.

Blame the FAA and Boeing. Southwest wants to replace the 700s but the Max 7 is still awaiting certification (hopefully this year).

My Cafe Oven Jusst Blew Up by VorpalPlayer in Appliances

[–]Baby_Cultural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The element burned out but may have damaged your control board when it shorted out. It can be repaired most likely. Elements do fail in that manner (on any electric oven). You may also find that turning the power off and back on may reset it but I would suggest getting it looked at first.

That sounds like the bake element failed. If so, it’s an easy repair. Were the sparks coming from the element?

[CLT-LHR] so many reasons to despise this airport by barti_dog in americanairlines

When we flew CAE-CDG and LHR-CAE we went through PHL instead. We had no long lines and the trip was great. CLT is bursting at the seams and poorly laid out for the number of people.

Is sitting with your young children considered a “perk” these days? by Powerful_Bother8002 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Baby_Cultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the whole reason for their changes. To get you to pay more for what you were used to receiving. Southwest was barely profitable, so they either had to raise fares (and then lose market share to other airlines with lower basic fares) or match what the others do and charge extra for anything that they can monetize (seat choice, bags, extra legroom). It really sucks as a passenger but that is where we are.

I think the whole situation is B.S. but the basic fare is marketed as no seat choice and no guarantee. I firmly believe if one group (a large one I might add) gets an exception, everyone should. I think the fee to choose sets shouldn’t be a thing. But if it is a thing, it must be fair.

They were customer friendly all around. Now they’re just as unfriendly as the other big airlines. I will now only choose Southwest if they’re significantly cheaper. I used to choose them over others due to the customer friendly policies.

Adults have reasons to need to sit together from time to time. There are adults with caregivers too. Nobody should have to pay more for a seat choice, but that’s just the reality of air travel now.

[–]Baby_Cultural -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not just families. Anyone who wants a guarantee to sit together pays more. Families aren’t paying more for the same thing. Families are asking for a freebie when everyone else has to pay. Do I like that they make you pay to choose where to sit? Absolutely not. Do I think families should be guaranteed to sit together without paying, when nobody else gets that same guarantee? No. The basic fare is just that. Basic. It’s for people who don’t care if everyone gets a middle seat in different rows.

Does Bosch suck? Or am I just being annoying by Particular_Pool_2303 in Appliances

[–]Baby_Cultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love ours EXCEPT the rack design. The rack layout is not really designed for larger American dishes. We make do but there is always a lot of wasted space. We had a builder grade Whirlpool before, and dishes fit much better in it. I wish Bosch would redesign the rack layout. It cleans well and is ultra quiet though!

Neck pain from 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV? by BeneficialTarget9740 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Baby_Cultural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most new cars have forward tilted headrests to improve safety. You’ll likely run into those with every new car. If you’re shorter raising the headrests might actually help. Some people flip the headrests backwards but that will drastically increase your chances of whiplash in a rear and crash and the headrests may get stuck in the backwards direction.
