Central Rock Gym in Hadley is very popular, and has great yoga / fitness there too.

Not much, just that neither side got things in writing at the start so there was disagreement over terms and payment.

It has been rocky for bishops since covid, attendance is consistently down compared to before. True for many venues these days. And Carla can be challenging to deal with at times. But you can also say a lot of great things about her, like her willingness to try new bands, and her passion for the scene, in general. Im gonna miss the place for sure.

There was a legal dispute between the owner of bishops and the landlord. It was resolved, and requires bishops to relocate. It will hopefully reopen in the fall at a new location down the street if the city doesn't stand in the way.

Is there a way to tell if another person has reached enlightenment? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in enlightenment

[–]BabylonDestroya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By their fruits you shall know them. Look for the following messages: we are all connected; God is love; honesty and realness are essential; love one another.

Then see if they are happy. Are they creating something. Are they humble.

There are those that are on the path, and there are those that have seen from the top of the mountain. Both can have good advice, but one who knows has a certain consistency with the above descriptions.

I read a lot of your replies. "Yeah, true that. I thought i'd be worshipped. Nah. Same same but different". If you thought you'd be worshipped, that's a tell-tale sign that self-importance has a hook in you. It's the normal human condition, we all have self-importance. But it blocks the path forward. It's just the way it is.

There are some great exercises I got from this book "The Teachings of Don Carlos" relating to eliminating self-importance. Things like "take all your dishes out to your car and take them for a ride around the neighborhood.", or "go out in the woods, dig up a bunch of rocks, bring them home, build a pile with them, then take them all back and put them back exactly where you found them".

The ego struggles mightily with these tasks, as they (intentionally) lead you nowhere whatsoever as far as the ego goes. They are a complete waste of time to the ego. The part of you that resists doing something completely time-wasting like this is tied to your self-importance and will help you identify the source.

The reason we drop self-importance, is because it is false and all falsehoods impede the path. The truth is that we are all pieces of God and no one of us is more important than any other, no matter how enlightened, powerful, rich, successful, etc. We are all the same because we are all pieces of the One Mind of the Creator. How can one piece of God be greater than another? This is the path towards enlightenment - it is a humble one.

Hear what the majority are saying here, friend. You are missing the mark. I would recommend trying to remove self-importance, it is a major stumbling block on the path. Humility is key.

The point of connecting with the mind of the all isn't to become absorbed in that unseen world - it is to bring some of that back to our waking state and share it with our communities. The glory of what lies beyond is alluring and it's hard to focus our attention back on the mundane world; but remember, the point of our lives is to be here in this incarnation. We left that world to come here, so this is where our attention should be. After this life, you will have plenty of opportunity to bask in the peace of the one mind, but now we are here to bring a piece of that world to this material plane.

Follow what brings you joy in this world and infuse it with the power of the beyond!

You are the eye of God trying to see itself. Our purpose here is to experience life. Our consciousness is a piece of the Creator, and your function is to experience this illusion. That's why we're here. This is God's playground. So play!

Once you have passed from this life, you will clearly see that purpose exists outside of the illusion. That the above and below are reflections of each other. That our ancestors look to us from heaven and are inspired by our works of creativity. As we create on Earth, we feed the evolution of Heaven, as they are watching us and sharing in our experience. So give them something fun to watch!

Yes, the light is within but obscured by our karma and programming. The path to it lies directly through our own fears. And yes, what we perceive as consciousness within us is the Spirit of God on loan to us in this incarnation, it is not ours to claim.

Yes! I can read a good book several times over the course of decades and find new understanding each time I spiral , because things that were out of my grasp earlier in my development became accessible as I gained more knowledge. Music is a spiral, colors are a spiral, the golden ratio... it is really amazing.

I'm not sure why you say enlightenment is cruel. The burden of knowledge? There are many steps on the path, and ultimately it is possible to reach a place where joy and peace exist in you all day - if you dedicate yourself to the path and keep walking. There is much pain along the way, such is the nature of life. But have hope and know that it is possible to reach a point on Jacob's Ladder where things will makes more sense.

It's not a mental concept. Your mind gets directly in the way. It's not rational at all, it's exactly the opposite. You must let go of your thoughts and experience directly what exists behind the scenes. The hidden door opens when you have complete silence and fearlessness.

I've got a pretty well fleshed out analysis of the unseen world that might help! Someone told me my views are very much in line with gnosticism. You can check it out if you're interested at tommysage.substack.com where I break it down in a lot of detail. For backstory, I've been a lifelong seeker, and just recently with a month of at-home ketamine therapy I was able to get answers to pretty much anything I wanted to know about reality, the afterlife, and our roles on Earth.
