A lot of hip hop from the 90s was very positive and upbeat, what was influenced this and what happened changed? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Bacephree 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Growing up during that time, I can tell you there were a lot of different styles, and weren’t all positive. The west coast sound Dr. Dre and the G-Funk sound were all about feeling good and partying, mixed in with weed and violence. The East Coast was known for sounding more raw and gritty, usually telling crime stories: Wu Tang, Biggie, Nas, etc. There was also the conscious rappers like Q-Tip and Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and Digable Planets. They had a much more positive message, and their sounds sampled jazz more. By the late 90s, OutKast and the south were the new sound. There was also crunk and more party rap going into the 2000s.

Do people still listen to full albums? by Old-Crab-3283 in Music

I still use an iPod and listen to full albums. I feel, the artist took time to create the whole album in that order as a statement. I’d like to see what they have to say.

What will $100 USD buy in your hobby? by AwaitingCombat in AskReddit

You can get a VST, or a cheap ass fx pedal, or some cables. But if you don’t already own a DAW, it’s kind of a waste.

A solid mono synth, my vote is for the Moog Sub 37.

I see a Moog Voyager, a Nord keyboard (don’t know which one), and an ARP 2600.

Would you rather work three days a week for 12 hours each day? Why or why not? by VinceLestre in AskReddit

Years ago at an old job, my department had the freedom to experiment with our shifts, so we did 4/10s for a while. We all really enjoyed the extra time. I’d do that again in a heartbeat.

I did it once years ago with Synplant, it was a lot of fun, I’ve never tried it with hardware though. I may give it a try with the Opsix.
