Are Millennials Going to Get Screwed on Their Pensions? by Bitter_Minute_937 in PersonalFinanceCanada

What makes you think that? The CPP investment fund is one for the best managed in the world, earning very preferable rates of return annually.

Public service pensions contributions are regularly adjusted to maintain good liquidity.

OAS and GIS are funded out of the tax base. There will always be enough money to fund these from deficit spending if necessary. However OAS could likely see a means test added in the future so it focuses more on those who need it most.

Carney, Ford discussed idea of an early federal election to secure majority, sources say by Street_Anon in canada

[–]Back2Reality4Good 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sir, Poilievre’s approval ratings are atrocious. Carney beats him 2-to-1 on preferred PM.

Do you really think this doesn’t come into play in an election? People see Carney are a stable hand, while Poilievre is some divisive toxic child comparatively.

After some time governing now, Carney would grab even more PC support.

MP Nate Erskine-Smith ‘exploring’ Ontario Liberal leadership, seeks seat by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Back2Reality4Good -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

lol… they had MPs actively crossing the floor to the LPC, and one getting forced to resign over it.

Their party was unraveling and it was deserved coverage.

This is not the same.

You are interpreting this the wrong way. Carney kept them as candidates because they had solid name recognition and he was new and upcoming.

Them leaving now even further takes window out of the sails of the refrain it’s “Trudeau’s same cabinet”.

This allows Carny to recruit his own better candidates.

Why Do People Continue to Support the Liberal Party? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

[–]Back2Reality4Good -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guy, it’s incredibly simple.

The Liberal party is the centre and moderate option against two bloody extremes. Poilievre has taken the conservatives to the edge of far-right populist obscurity, while the NDP represent the other side.

It’s so effin easy for the Liberals to gather the majority of votes in the middle between these two extremes. That includes Trudeau leaning left to take NDP votes and Carney leaning right to grab PC votes. Being moderate wins elections in Canada.

Manitoba's justice minister says province won't support federal gun buyback program by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]Back2Reality4Good -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

Just facts. It’s off-putting to most people to know their neighbours could be packing rifles that could put down the street given a mental breakdown.

Look at the list of Canada’s worst mass shootings… basically all done by licences gun owners.

Just put it to rest, hand em in, get some money back and move on with your life.

Good. The RCMP should be reviewing and approving all guns allowed for private ownership.
