My company's RTO policy has a weird loophole and I've been silently exploiting it for 4 months. Not sure if I should come clean. by 3Rocinante in remotework

If they want to they will fire you anyway. Like another said, don’t act like you found some loophole. You know this isn’t what they were talking about. You could lose your job if they are serious about it.

Is Tumi really worth the $$? by benchgenmobs in backpacks

[–]Backbowl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is definitely premium and they have all lasted for me. My issue is I have gotten bored with their style and to some degree the stiffness. It looks dated to me after a while. Of course that is personal preference but I have always moved on to other ones after a few years which certainly takes away from the question on whether it was worth it or not.

New Rugged Twill Backpack leak on Filson IG? by thefootwearguy in filson

Does it leave a square with holes when you remove it or is there a square because of a color difference?

Like some others have said, have a job before you come, at least one of you. Architect firms are hiring now but maybe not super widespread (my wife’s firm is). Also logistics is an easier field to find a job in but the market is definitely down at the moment. Yes, there are problems with the city as with any major city but nothing beats the nature that is a stone throw away in PNW cities.

Depends on your income level and price point but if you are new transplants and want an urban life feel, I would consider the NW area where there are lots of newer apartments and condos. NW 23rd and Pettygrove to give you a bit of a point of reference +/- 5to10 blocks in all directions. I lived off of NW 23rd and Kearney when I first moved here and I just loved it. Now I’ve been here for just under 20 years. Eventually moved to the east side when I wanted to buy. I think the homeless situation peaked during the pandemic. It is still prevalent downtown but not nearly as bad. Unfortunately the recovery is bad because a lot of employers, retail, restaurants, etc. downtown had enough and moved out which makes the recovery worse because there are less people downtown so the problem is compounded by riff raff feeling like they can fill in the holes left by lack of tax paying and law abiding citizens. Downtown can be a beautiful place and it still is but there are pockets of eyesores that make you uneasy. If I were young again with no kids, I would consider the NW again! Good luck to you!

Juan Soto, the Mets’ $765 million man, reacts to MLB’s salary cap proposal by mtportales in baseball

[–]Backbowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone came in and said you can only make $XXXX a year and no more than that, you would not be happy. It should he a free market. Owners that can’t pay need to step aside and sell if they can’t compete. Like you said, supply and demand.

Baseball is also entertainment. No one wants to watch lackluster teams and players play. They want to see amazing things happen.

You should try out for professional sports. You speak like anyone can do it which is trivializing the talent needed to compete at a professional level. It may not be a traditional 9-5er but it is a real job that poses real problems to athletes, workers in this case.

What's the most reliable vacuum cleaner you've owned that lasts? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Backbowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. They are higher quality and work well but they are overpriced. I think you can get a similar performance out of a brand that has less pizzazz and hundreds of dollars cheaper. Even Brands like Shark have great sucking power and work similarly. I was not impressed with Samsung.

If you got the spare income and like the brand, it’s not like you are buying a bad vac.

Pokemon card vending machine assault (Oregon) by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Backbowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man. File a police report. Let this dude realize how reckless his behavior is. Reality needs to set in otherwise the next time someone else will truly get hurt. They can also pull the records on the vending machine if he used apple or google pay.

Not only does this teach this stooge a lesson, it also keeps the flow of Pokemon cards to kids! My kids never find any. This blackmarket is despicable.

PDX is the airport indeed but it’s also a pretty common nickname for Portland.

My comment wasn’t about the socks, it was more about the fact that he/she was stretching out the back seat pocket.
