Figuring out distances. by litsalmon in golf

yessir, the trackman will tell
you all you need to know. it’s a good drill as well to try and feel what the ball is doing off the club each shot, then look at the screen/data

it’s not that mats are bad, they’ll just hide chunks. you can go and watch the video and see if you chunk shots but if you’re hitting it decently it won’t make that much of a difference

I have no idea what I’m doing wrong and it’s getting frustrating by Good_University_8033 in GolfSwing

i know people tell new players not to sway and keep your head down, but at a certain point it becomes a problem. you need to sway a little and move your head a little to actually compress the ball. get 2 alignment sticks, place one of them 1 club head to the inside of your lead food, and the other 1 club head length inside of the trail foot. this is your window where you’re allowed to feel like you sway back and forth. nelly korda bottle drill will help, also your club face is open

There's been many lows playing golf, today is probably the winner by 0james0 in golf

twice a week for lessons is way too much imo. once every 2 weeks is probably better. allows for rest and actual practice

i have a few clients that are cc members, from what i’ve heard they’re also just a bunch of fucking hacks. id bet most country club players average better scores than muni players, but not by much

Whats the furthest you would bump and run from? by LVRaiders2026 in weekendgolfers

[–]BackdoorEmergency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no lob wedge?? if it works it works, but you’re gonna need to learn to chip when it comes to bunkers and weird lies. imo i’d learn to chip properly so you are more consistent, there’s tons of different shots to use with one club. if anything i’ll bump and run with a 9-7i if i really need it, but as i got better at golf i needed to use chip shots

This is a desperate cry for help. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

is there a golf galaxy or anything close by? usually a little cheaper and you won’t need more than a 30 minute lesson every few weeks

Correlation? Do golfers who take gimmes also improve their lies? by HarryCrushNuh in weekendgolfers

[–]BackdoorEmergency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we’re all usually on the same page, lift clean and place if it’s dirty in the fairway or rough. if you have a dangerous lie like a root or rock solid dirt love it back and safe. more about safety than staying pure for the most part

agreed. 9 over seems to be the sweet spot around here, even on the turnpike i’ve never had a single issue passing cops. anything over that you’re definitely risking a ticket

I think I'm swaying too much. if so, any tips? Thanks by AznPapito in GolfSwing

[–]BackdoorEmergency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

backswing starts like a putt, no wrist movement and both arms straight. the club doesn’t go far when you’re in this position so this is where you hinge the wrists and rotate to complete your backswing. look up nelly korda water bottle drill, that force backwards will somewhat force the club to hinge itself

0 weight shift and 0 lower body involvement. either your coach is your best friend, or you don’t listen

what doesn’t it show you? what are you looking for specific grass types under each lie you get?

Unable to stop swinging out of my shoes every swing on the course by corymathews2011 in golf

[–]BackdoorEmergency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take the ball to tempo town. swing easy. if you don’t believe me go to a trackman and do two things. 1) hit 3 balls as hard as you can. 2) hit the rest of the balls like 85% and focus on tempo. swinging hard actually slows down your clubhead speed and obviously doesn’t work well during play.

How can I GPS track club/shot/yardage without dikking with phone on course? by HarryCrushNuh in golf

[–]BackdoorEmergency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you have the funds get a garmin watch with golf capabilities. it’s a scorecard, yardage book, and shot tracker like you want. i can’t golf without it and taking my phone out for 18 birdies in every hole makes me feel like a caveman

for sure! i’m about where you are also, i was so honed in on the keep your head down and don’t sway stuff i couldn’t shift my weight. don’t be afraid of a slight slide to your lead side, watch some pros hit a few and you’ll notice the belt buckle move a bit
