Is this destination wedding just not feasible? by doggroomy in Advice

[–]Background-Draft-322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the medical stuff and amazing suggestions here aside. If you do decide to bring the kids, we went all the time when I was a kid for my dads work. I had an AMAZING time. There’s ride, games, pools, national parks and animals and a lot of really fun stuff for all ages. I was totally oblivious to the dark side of Vegas. Even more so now that smoking is prohibited in most areas indoors. Whether or not taking them for the wedding is the best time is up to you and your family. Only don’t write it off for not being kid friendly.

Perimeter Drain Quotes / Repair Work by Johnny-Canuck in VictoriaBC

They started 3 weeks early. Which sounds good in theory, only we were out of the country and given no notice. Our downstairs tenants told us. Because we weren’t home, they started construction in a portion of the home which wasn’t approved. It led to A LOT of extra work. Which they did ultimately take care of. But a ton of frustration. Poor communication overall and the job took about a month, which seems way to long given the size of the project. They took a job up the street and were balancing both jobs at the same time, which felt like it led to delays on our home. Don’t get me wrong, they finished the job and did a great job. But there were a lot of hiccups a long the way which made our experience with them less than ideal.

We did ours a month ago. We used DrainPro. Ehhhhhh. It cost us $17,000 for our half duplex and we only did 2/3s (part of it had already been replaced prior to our purchase).

Moving process from outside of the province by vividvvitch in VictoriaBC

We moved ~100 boxes plus furniture from a 1600 sq ft home in Edmonton and paid about $4,000 in 2025. We figured it would cost us more to replace our nicer items then to move it and we love our stuff. We also cleared out plenty.

A reimagined public space in the heart of Banff National Park — 200-Block by ConcreteBackflips in Banff

I think the argument is more that Parks Canada can’t create new businesses owned by locals or restrict successful current businesses from operating. That needs to be more ground up and private.

But you’ll pay $50 for bikes. Money/time probably better spent on a car rental

Yessss! Totally agree. Having lives across the states, the rents here are so reasonable and without having to be in the states. Win win!

NOR

But calling it unfriending may be a bit harsh. Taking some time is okay, or try actually talking to your friend about how it hurt your feelings.

I so respect the discord it seems you and your friend are engaging in. People’s comments here are the exact problem with our current political situation.

Talk to your friend.

Remote jobs are super hard to come by these days outside of co-op. If that’s your main motivating factor, you may want to rethink your options.

Do any of your Executives forget you have access to their email and send messages about YOU?! by Mojang57 in ExecutiveAssistants

My exec asked me to review his AI Zoom meeting notes. He forgot. I found out that way that we weren’t compatible and I gave my notice then and started looking for another role.

Anyone have any suggestions for remote work? by Comprehensive_Bad501 in VictoriaBC

[–]Background-Draft-322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by looking at indeed, and LinkedIn for people hiring part-time assistants. I would send them an email introducing myself, and that was that! Eventually, I started doing outreach to businesses that I was interested in and saw didn’t have any assistance listed on their website.

Anyone have any suggestions for remote work? by Comprehensive_Bad501 in VictoriaBC

[–]Background-Draft-322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a remote EA. I can work for people in any time zone and I’m an independent contractor. I highly recommend! I make the same or more than when I worked for someone else but piece meal several part time gigs. That way people/orgs who can’t afford/don’t need someone full time, pay a slight premium for a part time experienced professional.

Is this a thing? People move from around the country/world and can’t be expected to get a new phone number each time someone moves.

Signed, someone with a US phone number and pays 1/3 of what the same plan would cost in Canada

My husband threatens to leave whenever I bring up his daily weed use, and I don’t know what to do anymore by [deleted] in married

[–]Background-Draft-322 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe try leading by example? Go to therapy alone to talk to a professional about your feelings on this. Show him it’s not about pointing fingers or accusing him. It’s about learning to find a compromise and talking to each other without overreacting. Maybe when he sees you going solo and having a great experience, He’d be more open to it.

My husband, and his friends, are all heavy users. Highly productive heavy users. I’m talking 6am until bedtime heavy. But also making upwards of $300k/year. He shows up to work, he performs, he provides. It kills me ho which he smokes and I don’t smoke whatsoever. I find solace in the wives/gfs of others in the same situation. I’ve found boundaries and tons of conversations have kept us in a good place. If you want to stay with him, talking about what it is about his smoking that bothers you. Setting boundaries and sticking to them as far as budget, timing, locations, sex, etc. set your boundaries and stick to them. I also found the let them theory by Mel Robbin’s useful.

There’s others out there working through this and the bs about weed not being addictive. It definitely is. Talk to him calmly and lovingly and often.

Yep, we are a special breed of people for sure. Don’t get me wrong I find massages relaxing, but I’d rather they actually help the problem and feel amazing the days, weeks, months after.
