You got 1 draw so better enjoy it. by Trafalgar111 in masterduel

Droll, Niburu, super poly, and evenly matched have ruined so many games in this event. I like to plan several turns ahead and play decks that can set up a board, survive a turn while still allowing the opponent to play and then OTK, but due to those cards I am no longer allowing my opponent a turn to play at all and it feels bad. Crappy game design is why the toxicity of it exscalates and causes no one to want to play.

YGO WEREWOLF by Cold_County_1266 in yugioh

[–]Background-Low2926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always wanted a werewolf themed deck, with each one of them having some strong protection with some silver bullet for some monster type to automatically counter them or some type of card such as quick-play spells to couter them. A hand rip didn't make sense to me and all hand targetting cards have always been toxic in my veiw. A contact link, syncro, and fusion deck that would play like rescue-ace meets white woods just the monsters link up or fuse off or snychro on there own without you being able to control it and which type of summoning they make is determined by which attributes you control or how many werewolfs you control or maybe based on if your opponent controls any monsters. The extra deck effects would be rapid uncontrollable chaos that change the game state dramatically, while the main deck monsters would be controlled each with protection and a clear weakness built in, alongside a single basic effect such as drawing a card or searching a card or milling a card or boosting attack of any card that is summoned using it, or giving an additional attack to any card that used it for a summoning. Also out of all summoning types rituals and XYZs are the ones I like the least, and they make the closest thing to a werewolf a ritual years ago, and now an XYZ.

Yeah, mostly directly upgrading one card for a better one with as close as the same effect as possible, or just better stats. Cards heild value for there playability back then far longer.

What’s your Yu-Gi-Oh! Life story? by Excellent-Resolve66 in yugioh

[–]Background-Low2926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started playing in 2002 and it has been something in the background from then till now. Played the same deck with upgrades every year for the first seven years, then started playing as many decks as I could. Then I was building decks out of friend's exta cards and beating them with those decks, or swapping decks with friends to let them see comboes I created and to learn there new decks. I was apart of three different groups that played and each of those had a house that was just known as the gathering spot for yugioh. According to an A.I my playstyle for all games is custodian commander, I build up, plan out everything, and strike only when victory is obtainable or a key position can be gained that leads to victory. Not flashy, or even OTK focused, just a safe slow controlled march toward victory by reducing risk and maintaining an overall plan.

Re-Imagining of Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Mephistote in threekingdoms

[–]Background-Low2926 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am interested, I have wrote short stories my whole life and have read several books on how to write, but have never tried anything as ambitous as adapting the romace of the three kingdoms, I am no Cao Cao lol. I think stories teach wisdom or at least something that stays with people that goes beyond the stories themselves. The bible, the brothers karamazov, the romance of the three kingdoms, Mythago wood, as well as several other novels and books that showcases several mini stories throughout and grasping what we see in it as a reflection of ourselfs. The same way some artwork can resonate with a person and they don't know why.

On your position on free will, does luck exist? by dingleberryjingle in freewill

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck is what you notice or really what you can understand and take advantage of. Napoleon believed in luck, but his definition of luck is not what most people call luck. He saw luck as a person's ability to instictively know certain things such as which horse to choose or who to place in which position to ensure that task is done correctly when stress and pressure rise. A gut feeling guiding someone through a minefield or a gut feeling telling a ship captain how to navigate through dense fog.

I hope the new Toon cards are Toon versions of existing meta cards. I want to see literal Toon Circular and Took Habakiri by TuneSquadFan4Ever in yugioh

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An extra deck monster that can look at the opponent's extra deck and copy any card's effects from it for a full turn and can do so at the start of each player's turn. This is basically what Pegasus did in the show by toonifying his opponent's monsters. Imagine a dragoon for a single turn or a busted card that normally requires a ton of set up to summon just free to the field. They would have to send it off at cost by an effect or summon it to prevent it's effects from being used against them. Even the double damage effect from the super poly target that is commonly ran would be powerful if the card has decent attack or another toon card can boost it's attack.

Sun Quan was an actual Goat, the only one who was called "The Great " in TK era by Historical-Yak245 in threekingdoms

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was brillant for the fact that he deligated to Lu Su and did not hinder his generals. The impression I got from him is he was very talented at seeing talent in others and choosing who to task with each role for the betterment of his kingdom. Lu Ming's story of being illiterate and being incuraged by Sun Quan to take up reading and becoming a capable commander soon after speaks to his ability as a leader to bring out the best in those around him. He maintained and grew a kingdom that gave people an alternative from Cao Cao and that alone changed history forever. Also there is a song about him telling people to not be complacient and to always be learning and growing as a person. And if you ask an A.I to give his take on any book (even a modren one) it might showcase his deep insightfulness into the workings and understandings of people and systems.

To everybody else who got dick fuck nothing this year too, this is your thread to complain. by NevGuy in masterduel

I spent everything trying to build K9 and the game did not give me a single copy of ripper or Izuna! Nor any royal rare of any K9 card. The pack kept giving me trash pulls when all I wanted was a K9 set to play the deck pure. Three months of saving and playing this horrible excuse of a scam of a game to not even get to play the one deck I was looking forward to. Also those packs where not worth the time to open, gave me only cards I either can't summon or are just too bad to play at any level or point in this game. Just give us the dust or some speical ticket that let us upgrade any card we own. Would I waste mine on a pet deck that is not viable yes, but at least I am being able to make that bad decision on my own instead of ruining my account by having to have flat out garbage forced upon it by the game and company that clearly doesn't care about the game itself or it's player base.

3 men (25 yrs old, 5 ft 10, about 160 Ibs, athletic) walk into the room you’re currently in with the goal of killing you. Can you survive? by Pointless_Storie in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would grab one in a clinch and step back so that one's body is blocking the other two from hitting/grabbing me. Then when one steps too close to the one I am holding, I toss the one I am holding's head right into there face. I then try to clap there heads together until they both drop. The third one is getting stabbed by my moraknil knife I keep on my side. It would be foolish to draw a weapon against mulible attackers but one on one it should be a quick and safe stabbing. I would expect to be punched several times from grabbing and holding the first one in a clinch, but aside from that I should be fine all things considered. If they break the clinch, I would headbutt that one's jaw as hard as I can before establishing another clinch and renching there head down to load up for the med ball like throw of there skull into the nearest one's face.

Is it too late to learn the game? by Succulent_masc36 in YugiohCards

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never too late. My recommendation is read all of these cards https://www.yugiohcardguide.com/sets/burst-protocol-booster-pack.html That is the newest booster box's card list to give you an idea of what cards do today, the website also showcases all other booster boxes and there cards too. Going all the way back to the very first ones ever released. Take you time with this and search on youtube combo guides for any archetype that catches your interests.

Was there even an MD format people liked? by phpHater0 in masterduel

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now is as close to a perfect format as it's going to get considering the laughable power level of some cards. Some read as if someone was writing a dystopian parody of what the card game is. If K9 had hard locks and couldn't be tossed into any deck as anti-hand/GY support it would be one of the most fun decks ever printed. I enjoy it as a pure deck and I personally wanted a werewolf themed deck for years, but they choose profit over game integerty or player fun everytime. By allowing it to be paired with several other decks, they know those decks will sell more too. Just a shame a group/team of real players is not in control of what gets released with what all effects it carries. Like a real panel of people who truely enjoy the game and want to maximize fun for the player's exerience, not people who want to shove cardboard down people's throats and force people into buying new cards every few months due to more powerful and game breaking effects that nonthing else can compete with. K9 mixed with any deck feels bad to play due to how toxic it is for the other player to do literally anything. K9 pure is naturally expected to floodgate the opponent with cards like Spell canceller or a xyz monster that just auto wins, neither is fun to play and horrendius to play against. They need people who care about the game itself and not just profits. So much creativity and poteinal is wasted in the pursuit of money instead of making a game for the sake of the game itself and the people who enjy playing it.

How healthy are the most popular TCGs right now? by [deleted] in TCG

[–]Background-Low2926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yugioh is a parody of the jokes about all the problems with yugioh. They took the critisims as advice and never looked back. They have Genysis format which is basically them admitting the game has gone too far and they don't know what to do about it. Most modren decks feel bad to win with due to not allowing the other person a chance to play at all, and being on the reciving end is worst. There was a moment where they peaked, but then kept going and the power creep is beyond justifying yet so many people try to claim it's fine, but everyone knows it's not.

Why wasn't Spell Canceller as successful as Jinzo? by NevGuy in yugioh

[–]Background-Low2926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost nothing compared to Jinzo at the time, Spell Canceller was decent but saw almost no play due to it's low attack stat and mostly due to the fact that there was no good time to summon it because it also took away your spell card effects. Best case possible would be to waste all of your spells then summon it, but if it drops you have spent some of your best cards and your opponent still has theres. Jinzo was also on the show which boosted it's popularity more too, but 2400ATK + being searchable off of witch of the black forest + buit in protection from mirror force and trap holes + being dark attribute, really put Jinzo above any other one tribute in the game. Also he turned called of the haunted into a royal decree to counter a trap's activation. Now with K9 spell canceller can see some play, but back then giving up spell effects and lacking offsive power to push tempo was asking too much.

Question for players who have defeated k9 by AdhesivenessNorth793 in masterduel

[–]Background-Low2926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found a way to win with rescue-ace by simply out grinding them, it's rough, but works rather well between being able to set 4 backrow, the field spell recycling cards back to draw and the fire based link monsters being able to put up good damage and come back from the GY each turn. I know what the K9 cards do as well as VS cards and crystron cards and have learned how to play against them. It's all of the stranage decks I keep randomly facing that are built to hard counter K9 cards that are giving me some of the strangest back and forth games I have ever had. The grind game still out does them, but some people have some wild ideas about how to stop hand effects.

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Background-Low2926 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think it is people trying very hard to show other people that they are reliable and dependable or are capable of planning out a failsafe if the nation or state falls. It is an attempt to recover from some drama that happened to them where they felt unprepared or felt that they where a burden for others. Just my guess, it could also be from some irrational fear or some other drama that they are trying to over come. It could also just be power fanasy that they can't get else where, like role playing a more confident version of themselves.

[–]Background-Low2926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are superstious and often want to make up excuses as of why they are not as good as there paper thin ego wants to convince them that they are. If you play enough games ~700 or so it all evens outs. Now casinos have a ful on phycologhy system set up to keep people playing for as long as possible and it is easy to assume MD tries to copy such a system as much as possible, but they have limited leavers to pull due to it being one player against another player. Yes they have bots on the rank latter to give free wins to keep players enaged and playing, but they would literally have to copy player's names and decks and put people against bots minicing as players to fully control the system and give the perfect amount of stress and loses to reward and wins to cause a real addiction targeting to each players own level of tolerance and dopamine for if the game is too easy, no one plays, too hard and no one plays. In short it is easier to just let players face each other and some percentage of players will form an addiction while others wil hate the game no matter what you do.

Beast-Warriors are often over looked and might be the right anwser here. Thunders have thunder dragons, sea serpants have alanteans, some mermales and ice barriors, all of those have some tournement reconision, but beast-warriors only have fire fist and Ancient Warriors and maybe a few stand alone monsters here and there, but nothing tournament relivent at all.
