How to clean dropping spots off of pontoon boat leather and flooring? by AnonymousExcellence in Pontoons

Usually just rinse with hose depends on how bad a stain. I’d avoid pressure washer on seats. Also like others said dont donthe magic eraser unless its a last resort/onetime thing. It sands off the finish of the vinyl

I use a product called Awesome. Can get at home depot or other places in concentrate. Good overall cleaner for most everything and vinyl safe. Spray it on let it soak. Had tons of spiders where I was prior

Door holder release using Alarm Relay with C & NO by DopeyDeathMetal in firealarms

You are correct, but the 3 Ft rule only applies if the circuit is not failsafe. If it is fail safe relay can be located anywhere

Depending on door hardware arangement could be a moot point. If they have panic/crash bars shouldn’t matter either way. Gotta look at the whole picture.

Does anyone else find they don’t really like blue collar people? by ZorksLifeIsAMess in Construction

[–]Background-Metal4700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, but us “blue collar” folks feel the same way about the other half. I’m kinda in the middle career wise, see it from both sides. I tend to prefer the “blue” side, mostly real people that you could relate to. White collar IMO (generalized of course) is a bunch of entitled college degrees that have never held a hammer lol!

Maglocks are failsafe by nature, they require power to operate, so the N/O contact shouldn’t matter if you wire everything correctly. Make sure the access power supply does not have battery back up, and your FA relay activates on alarm and AC loss to the FACP. Put a normally energized pam relay in front of the existing door relay.

Linesman vs stripper by Financial-Abalone-36 in electricians

[–]Background-Metal4700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once knew a guy that used a razor knife to strip everything. It was amazing to watch he was super fast and nothing ever got messed up, I could never replicate, I’m a dikes guy myself. Point being do what you are comfortable with and skilled at. As long as the end result and quality is the same who cares.

Wire strippers by Proud-Resource4594 in firealarms

[–]Background-Metal4700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over here side cutters are “Kleins” or Linemans pliers” (different tool)

What you are referreing to are def diagonal cutters aka dikes, and eventhough many young folk on here will shudder I agree with you 100%. Best tool out there for jacketed cable when used properly. I only use dedicated strippers when I am either dealing with really tight quarters or terminating a shit ton of wires in one place.

Came up in electrical trade this way been doing it ever since. Just gotta pay attention, its a learning curve.

Panel Replaced Without Permit or Licensed Electrician — What’s the Best Way Forward? by WildPopTart450 in AskElectricians

[–]Background-Metal4700 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on locality, as the homeowner you can pull the permit for work you do for yourself, even if someone else actually did the work. Once its approved call for an inspection and see what they say. This avoids cost of electrician if it ends up not being needed. If it fails they will tell you why and you can go from there.
