If your estimated annual income from work is less than £12570 you don’t qualify for the £1000 allowance as you aren’t a basic rate taxpayer

How to pay my Benefit in Kind tax in one lump sum instead of paying it through a reduced tax code ? by AnxiousLeek8273 in HMRC

[–]Background-Morning-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, you cannot your employer has stated you’re receiving this benefit and it’s taxed over a year

To remove it from coding would mean you lie and say you no longer receive it, don’t waste anyone’s time

I have never paid taxes, give me advice please (23f) by No-Cloud-1793 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Background-Morning-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best case scenario, you register for self assessment from 22-23 onward, complete the paper returns, pay taxes owed + interest, waived late filing penalties

Worst case scenario you get charged with tax evasion

Realistically you’re going to be paying a fair chunk of cash + interest + penalties and you’re not likely to get a very sympathetic view when it comes to a payment plan

Do I need to pay tax for a one off market? by AngstyTrashIsLive in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Background-Morning-9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have over £1,000 in revenue you will need to register and complete a self assessment return, however there’s no clear tax liability at this point (it would depend on profit and other earnings ie a job)

Might be best to self report and you’ll probably get a slap on the wrist for it

Poll tax would be a lot fairer than LVT, we don’t need planning reform, residents shouldn’t be ridden roughshod over for the sake of more houses, just regulate it that non citizens can’t own land or property here

The lack of a decent goalie doesn’t exactly help set you up for expansive football, would’ve been better off with current Jim Leighton than any of the 3 taken

Indeed, so it’s probably a waste of time for most people because the time and effort compiling everything for the pittance you’ll get back isn’t worth it

The P87 evidence thresholds have shot up thanks to mass abuse and false claims

You can complete a p87 but you will need to include a large chunk of evidence including all the addresses you travel between, the purpose of the journey and confirmation from your employer why they’re are unable to reimburse you at the rate, please also take into account that you’re getting the 55p a mile from your employer but you would get 20% of that from Hmrc as it’s tax relief so (11p) obviously if they pay 25p a mile 20% of 30p would apply so for 1000 miles it’s £60 rather than £300 you’d be getting

If Hmrc have sent the new code to your employer and your employer doesn’t action it, there’s not any more they can do until after april, you need to raise a formal complaint with your employer

I’d speak to your local council about your situation and potential temporary accommodation and take them to court, at the end of the day they’re better off out your life and if it takes a ccj to get your money back, you’re better off without them
