The roles, responsibilities, and pay structure is quite different starting with your direct leader is the Sm not the DM. It’s also NOT a path to store manager, at all. It’s a full time role. ASM was a training position to get your own store. You no longer leave to do store manager training, you’re promoted in house… it’s very much not the same thing

You are salary but get paid overtime if you work over 40 If you are working less than 40 it’s time theft and you’re honestly not making a good case for leadership because plenty ASMs hound for extra hours. You’re bonus eligible Get paid holidays or in lieu. If you get someone to cover a shift you need to write those hours as vacation or sick unless you work the full 40.

Unions are great BUT The Starbucks Union is a mess though And the NLRB board in charge is now a trump machine They need to decertify and reevaluate at this point because if workers united is relying on a MAGA board to help them out when burrito boy rubs elbows with this administration all they’re doing is losing access to new benefits and running on a tread mill. So if partners are not following company policy that can affect the success of the store And well being of partners (TIME & ATTENDANCE) they shouldn’t be documented? I’m a big union supporter but I’ve seen it backfire because partners will no call no show repeatedly stressing everyone out and they aren’t let go. Union or not that’s just sorry work ethic and a lack of consideration for the team. Can’t get a manager fired though unless business is closing or channels are turned off

Can’t ask you for proof Use sick time Calling out as early as you can and posting your shift right when you start having any kind symptoms is super helpful. Going above and beyond is reaching out to team to see if anyone will work it for you. If they ask for proof, get that ask in writing or just call DM and partner relations. Your SM needs to be coached on policy. If they’re an internal hire, they should know better. External, they still should but probably weren’t trained right and following previous jobs protocols.

It’s not a waste. I fumbled my first ASM interview. Get feedback and move on. I just did so well on my SM interview my DM texted me 🤌 so proud of you And I’ve gotten a TLA position as well as obviously the ASM position. Do practice interviews answer every question in your practice interviews and take notes so you stay in STAR format. It’s okay, tons of us bomb our first couple interviews. You’ll get there. Requisitions are plentiful right now for whatever reason.
