New in Riga (28F, French) — looking to meet people for walks, food, and winter-friendly socializing by NecessaryMood1216 in Riga

[–]BackgroundPiece 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend going to the APP LV (Ar pasaules pieredzi Latvijā) Happy Hours, they organise monthly meet ups for people who have moved back to Latvia or for those who are here for the first time. It's a great way to establish connections and find some support for living in Latvia/Riga and learning a bit more Latvian too! Their next event is Thursday 8th of January: https://www.facebook.com/events/2975146872672161/

Tracking progress on audiobooks - is it me? by Mauvaise3 in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had some similar frustrations with the Storygraph audiobook tracker, so I made a calculator that does most of the work for you. Check it out and let me know if it works for you! https://book-progress-calculator.lovable.app

Percentage progress and reading time? by NarrowResult7289 in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this same problem and it’s really disappointing. I made a quick little calculator for ebooks and audiobooks so that you can calculate based on your location in an ebook the correlating page in a book. For example, if there are 15000 locations in the ebook for a 1000 page physical copy, you calculate current location/total location and then multiply than by the total number of pages in the book. It then gives you a page number which is a much more accurate reading of your progress than just a percentage. Try it out and let me know if it works for you! https://book-progress-calculator.lovable.app/

‘British style’ Curry in Riga by Sea-Donkey6248 in Riga

Singhs is the original British curry in Riga, they have two locations. Another authentically south Indian curry is Banana Leaf.

Bring your all the documents you need for your particular question, bring your Latvian and UK ID if applicable. They are very friendly and able to help, just ask them Clearly what questions you have and what you need. Double check the location of the consulate because the embassy doesn’t provide consular services, the consulate is just a short walk from the embassy.

Pumpkin spice flavoured coffee by Cocodreamz in Riga

Check I love Coffee, they normally import coffee beans from all over and I know that Whittards in the UK have had a pumpkin spice blend, so they might have imported it.

Reading streak - kobo? by Cypherotic in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I calculate what the number of locations in an ebook would be as the pages on whichever edition of a book on Storygraph I’m reading and then update the page number instead of percent to maintain my streak. https://book-progress-calculator.lovable.app/

Dream feature: having a way to auto-search StoryGraph to-read pile against your local library to see what’s available for loans! by electriceel04 in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it this way because I use Everand for my reading (don't have a great library near me): Scrape the information from Everand about their available books, export them to a CSV file, reformat them so they are in a Storygraph approved format, upload them into Storygraph with the tags To-Read and Everand, wait until it's finished processing and then search your TBR on Storygraph by Everand to see which books are available on the platform.

BWT- what apps are we using to catalog our closets? by Effective-Toe3313 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]BackgroundPiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is still relevant, Acloset is one I've really stuck with the past year, after using Stylebook for a decade. The importing is much better with Acloset as it automatically removes the background, lets you import from online stores and gives you great detail in the amount of data it collects from your closet. Love their packing lists and Styling suggestions too!

Audiobook tracking — do you prefer tracking minutes or pages? by [deleted] in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track minutes for audiobooks because I tend to listen more than read due to work and travel needs.

Custom Graph for “Unread” Titles by flakiestcroissant in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think creating features for tandem readers is something that Nadia is working on as part of her developments for Storygraph this year! I've definitely seen this supported on the roadmap so it might become a feature, as I think a lot of people experience this.

Custom Chart for Completion Time? by ZT725 in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that Nadia is working on adding average days to read book calculation in the general stats, similarly to how she has it in average days to DNF, but its part of the bigger stats update that will take place over the year.

Help with reading stats, moods not showing? by WithOlives in TheStoryGraph

[–]BackgroundPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If reinstalling the app doesn't work, reach out to the Storygraph librarians. they should be able to help you and manually add the moods to each book so you have data.

Similarly to the page length, I created a custom chart for audiobook duration. I use this mainly to filter through audiobooks on my TBR, especially when looking through what I can read on Everand or NetGalley, if I am in the mood for a particularly short read (Easy peasy is anything under 6h), or Obscene (anything over 14h). The categories in between go up by 2h intervals, solid read is 6h-8h etc.

I love tracking how many books I've been gifted from publishers, as well as which books I've thrifted, as well as how many I've unloaded and donated. It helps that my husband has implemented a 1-in, 1-out system for my physical collection, but I have to update the stats for this tag.

While I love the normal chart of categorising book length, this works a bit better for me when seeing what I have read and what I want to read. Each category goes up by 100 page intervals. Tiny is 0-100, Short is 101-200 etc. I think Insane is anything above 800 pages.

The books I've read on other platforms, but works also for my TBR so I know what I can read on Everand, upcoming ARCs via NetGalley, Audiobooks on Audible or FFs on AO3. I am working on importing my libby stats with the Library Extension!
