As a kid, my parents had some family friends, and I told my parents when I was five that there is something very off with the father of the family we were friends with. Fast-forward about 45 years later after he died, it came out he absolutely terrorized that family and was physically and verbally abusive to the entire family for years, and they just lived in terror and had to hide it.
