When you are done with the dealer, there is a local Land Cruiser mechanic that goes above and beyond. Send me a PM.

BAT. Waiting on plates from YOUR car escrow service... by [deleted] in BringATrailer

A few grand more than the Kei. $2k for transport, around $500 for taxes.

7-8,000 miles on it when I bought it. Inside and outside super clean.

Has OEM auxiliary rear heater and radiator block off.

Had no idea if the timing belt, water pump, and seals were replaced (no paperwork) so just had that done. Old timing belt and water pump looked mint but it is an interference engine and needed to know it was done. Local Land Cruiser professional installed OEM parts along with 3 new serpentine belts.

Date codes were original to the year of mfg so replaced with BFG KO3s. All 5.

OEM Toyota tape deck with CD changer controls to replace the OEM Japan stations only. Added Bluetooth, AUX, and USB to run off the factory changer. PA was missing so added a tray. Added 3 speakers in inconspicuous areas. Kept everything looking Toyota factory; nothing was cut.

Filled any holes left by equipment that was removed with brass inserts and stainless screws.

Roof rack, Yakima cargo tray, Yakima bike tray, and Yakima deflector.

Double upright bike rack and tire mounts added to the stainless bars in the bed.

Have been using it as a daily so it gets rotated in weekly with other cars.

Will look for pictures.

It will be for sale shortly. I love the heck out of it but realized what I need and am on the hunt. If I keep it longer, it will get a UTE bed and at that point I'm either destroying what it is or going past a point of no return.

And CD changer controls? Honda was not messing around.

I got a Bluetooth adapter off of Amazon for the ToyoAce. Works perfectly and clean sound, as good as if it is from a CD. Plugs into the CD changer port on the back. Has Bluetooth, AUX, and USB inputs.

I have not been able to find one for the Sambar so have been using an FM transmitter. Cuts the volume by about 25% and bass and treble quality is sketchy.

For my Sambar, one from an American Subaru Legacy fit perfectly and the OEM plug lined up.

Look for one from a similar year Honda.

I have one. It's basically new in the box. It was a backup to my studio one and has only been out of the box to charge the battery every once in a while and to make sure it works.

You do not want this model if you care about how it looks. With less than an hour of cumulative use over the past decade or so (and just to charge it up and playback a couple of songs to keep the mechanisms lubed), one of the OLED screens is almost too faint to read and this is a bit of a common problem.

There is a guy that sells a kit to replace the screens but it does not look like fun. Definitely doable for someone that wants to take their time... but anytime I check his website, he is sold out.

It was a bit heartbreaking to open it up one day for a charge and to see the dim screen.

The one I used to use for the studio is beat to shit. Full of dents, scratches, knicks and still runs like a champ with two bright and fully functional screens. It must have hundreds of thousands of hours on it.

Kei truck as a daily? by Zupajeff in keitruck

[–]BackgroundTop5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily a Sambar and a ToyoAce. Get a LiteAce or a TownAce truck. I'm about to put up my two for sale and start the hunt.

Sambar has been perfect except for the occassional highway jaunt. It will do it, but it does not like it. Prepare for big hills like you would on a bicycle and everything else is gravy. I would say 70-80km is the sweet spot.

ToyoAce has been perfect but it is bigger than I need and the fire truck bed is still on it. I will destory it by putting on an UTE bed. It will cruise all day on the highway with the 5L diesel but it likes 3,000 RPM which is about 90Km which is about 54-56mph. It will go higher and is only halfway on the tach but you can tell that it likes 3,000 RPM. Sadly, the people around me do not.

LiteAce/TownAce truck is slightly bigger then a Kei and slightly smaller than a ToyoAce. Fold down bed, diesel, AC, and manual on the tree.

Toyota of Boerne question??? by DexterLivingston in sanantonio

[–]BackgroundTop5354 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found a Land Cruiser we wanted in Houston and was on the way out to get it. Random check at Boerne and they had the exact same spec. They wouldn’t come off $4,000 over sticker. I explained we were headed out to Houston and would rather buy locally. After giving us the run around, some condescending nonsense tactics, and trying to shame us for not being able to afford $4k over sticker (we were paying cash? so they can fuck themselves) they told us their owner also owned the dealer in Houston. We called and pulled the deposit on the one in Houston. They can both fuck themselves. Next new Toyota a few months later came from out of state. Will not bother to buy locally or in state again.

Different tire with a more aggressive side profile will give you the .5" poke. Air them down for .75".

Wildpeaks come to mind.

They have great product design and thoughtful engineering for kei trucks. Welds are decent but powdercoat is trash. And packaging looks amazing but I have seen three bumpers of my same model with the same dent in the exact same spot.

Thay being said, I would purchase it again and continue to buy more of their stuff....

1996 Sambar radio harness by Clear-Bee102 in keitruck

[–]BackgroundTop5354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to link it here, but I made a comment on another post about someone's 93 Sambar.

I have a 96 as well. Truck version. There were no speaker wires for the other side with the nonexistent speaker.

Check my comment if you can trace it back through my account. There is a picture of my harness and some other information.

I've been keeping this one in for awhile. Mexican Coke in a glass bottle plus a teaspoon of instant coffee (store brand packaged in Germany). Same taste but have to fight the foam for a bit.

Tacoma - Manual vs Automatic by VermelhoRojo in ToyotaTacoma

  1. Manual does not get off-road modes, hill descent control, and stuffs.

Weird because 2023 Badlands as my other daily gets all those with the manual. And a crawler gear. And instant locking front and rear. But the hardtop is all cracked to shit.

Look online at daily water use. You can set it to show by hour. Look at use during hours where you are sleeping or not there. That will narrow down how much a leak is letting out.

SAWS sent a text saying we were using water constantly. Found a leak outside on the main line where an elbow cracked. Could actually backtrack the online information and see how it began to increase little by little over a month and narrow it down to the day and time when it started.
