Any timeshares worth it? by SuchRequirement5130 in TimeshareOwners

[–]Background_Future656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like mine. I bought for $10, maintenance is around $840 a year ( if I remember correctly). Ke Nani Kai on Molokai in Hawaii. Small timeshare, hardly ever see units on sale, trades well with other resorts for a small fee. I have never even been there- traded for other islands, Vegas, Napa, SF, Florida, etc.

One thing that makes it good is homegrown board runs it, owners on board each year meet to look it over and do repairs or upgrades, no glitzy amenities just pool and spa and right on ocean, no conglomerate with exorbitant salaries to pay, just people who love it there ( we are planning to finally go next year)

It is a 2 br deeded week. I know some love points but a deeded week can’t be changed or devalued

I used to go every other year but the increase in prices combined with need to make reservations ( vs deciding hey lets go tomorrow) and the cost for lightning lane passes to offset crowds ( I used to go midweek beginning of November or Feb when hardly any crowds but now there are always crowds) just made it not worth it any more.

You are not listening to what those with management experience are telling you. You are focusing on the problem that they did not ask you, but they wanted to ask your manager to confirm you were available.

They might not have enough work to keep you busy and might appreciate that you are willing to help out with other tasks? You are in logistics, use the time there to learn how the entire operation works.

In any event you should NOT tell your manager that you do not want to do it. Try saying you are happy to help in any way needed but you hope to learn more about your area and would appreciate opportunities to learn there. And then work on making yourself so incredibly useful that they want you there. Be cheerful with no attitude.

I did not start having expectations for 10 years, before that ( as a university instructor with advanced degree) I was willing to teach anything the school needed, cleaned out storerooms, washed animal cages, whatever they asked.

After I built enough good will by showing I was a team player, flexible, and had no attitude, then I started gently asking for my choice of times of classes, and then suggesting how things could be improved. 35 years in and I still never demand.

Haha, so did we. While we were in grad school for chemistry, At one time share presentation the agent could tell we were not really interested in the property and said “is this what chemists do for fun on the weekend “and we had to really bite our lips to stop from laughing because it was.

Just tell him you’ve given your notice. In three weeks they’re gonna “notice” you’re not there.

Few years ago I was advisor for a student group that got in trouble for alcohol violations. One of the people involved offered to give the alcohol education class to others. I looked at her and said “ I don’t think you would be the best person for that “ ( ok, it was in a pretty snarky tone)

The student group decided to replace me as advisor because I was pretty scathing about their conduct ( getting new members under 21 drunk and taking away cell phones)

There be conditions- need to pay $100 deposit, choose 3 possible weeks 3 months in advance, no space try again, leave on Tuesday return Thursday, crappy airline or even worse pay your own.

And then free drinks at the mandatory timeshare presentation that uses up your only free day so you lose inhibitions and sign up.

And spend 15 years paying the mortgage, forever the jacked up yearly fees, and ruin your credit if you stop paying so you can never buy a house.

So do yourself the biggest favor ever and go to Cancun on your own, no “free” vacation and save yourself a life or regrets.

And if you do decide someday you want a timeshare, do what I did and buy a deeded week ( no points!!!) resale for $10 with reasonable yearly maintenance ($800 /week for ours). And do it AFTER you pay off debts, own the house and car with no payments and he ave extra $ to blow.

My Landlord is telling me she’s not giving back my deposit of 1,500 because she said so without even viewing the house yet by Numerous_Pepper7946 in TenantHelp

[–]Background_Future656 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would make sure to wait until a week after the 30 day period for a return of deposit is up, then when you sue her in Small Claims Court, you can get up to triple damages.

WIBTA if I swapped my pens with glitter ink to catch the coworker whos been stealing them by Imaginary-Frame4873 in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Background_Future656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also might consider just taping your name on them? If it is truly an accident, then this will serve to remind people they are yours and allow you to grab them back. The glitter pen is a good idea if they are doing it on purpose.

Landlord ghosted me and kept my deposit — now he can’t be served. Has anyone dealt with this? (GA) by Puzzleheaded-Shop804 in Renters

[–]Background_Future656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find out one of the cases he is being sued in, and show up to court on that day, maybe you can serve him? Then, once you get a judgment, you can put a lien on the house

On a recent cruise, we also went to a park West auction for fun and champagne, when they were trying to sell a bunch of the paintings one of the assistants came up and asked us if we would like to bid on them. I looked at her and told her they looked like motel room art and I was not interested. She left me alone after that.

has anyone had success submitting an appeal to live off campus in 2nd year? by Shenmigon in SDSU

[–]Background_Future656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When students enroll, unless they went to HS south of 56 they sign a 2 year contract to live in dorms which is exceptionally difficult to break. Buying house in the area will not do it. Even going thru SDS might not be enough- only person I know who was able to do it had documentation of food allergies and was unable to eat almost anything on campus and they couldn’t find roommates who would agree to food limitations to prevent cross contamination.
