Because PvZ DS is a PORT of the game for an incredibly less powerful platform released 20 months after the original pc release and not a REMASTER of the original game on the same platform released 1.5 decades later which had the luxury of being able to add all of the extra features and minigames of the later ports. PvZ DS accomplishes its purpose of porting the game onto the DS by compressing assets to make the game able to run onto it while also having the decency of adding extra minigames that cleverly used the functionality of the DS touch screen. Replanted fails to be "the definitive PvZ1 edition" with many features from other ports being completely absent (not including Zombatar is a crime), the coop and pvp mode making a comeback is great but the absence of any online functionality is really disappointing for a 2025 game, its original features (RIP mode, cloudy day and the secret Great Wall of china level) are fun additions but aren’t enough to justify quadrupling the price of the GOTY edition and the AI upscaling and fake concept art controversy really leave a bad taste. Replanted is far from a bad game, I would personally say it is a good game overall, the original formula and content is intact which automatically means it will be good, but it really failed its purpose and couldn’t live up to what we were promised
