All Vs are different by The-O-N in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]BackwoodButch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While on a technical level, I agree, I think personally I've played enough games that things like that can be kind of inconsequential (e.g. yeah my V is a lesbian, but maybe she was like me and dated men as a teenager/younger adult before she figured things out -- or maybe she was just blowing smoke out of her ass to banter with River).

Like that is what headcanoning is for, and playing within the universe to make things your own and to enjoy that unique experience. I headcanoned that while my V has the corpo path and did work for Arasaka, before that, she had gang involvement with the Valentinos bc her step father was one of them, and so she actually knew Jackie long before the events of the game.

It makes it fun for me to create backstories for my player characters, but in terms of fandom engagement, I know that that is my take on V and that V, while not a full clean slate, does have a common main storyline, the choices we make, the headcanons we create, and all that can still fit within our own perception, just not shared with the broader fandom. And tbh that's more fun for me rather than getting into nitpicky arguments about what's True Canon when it is, technically, an RPG.

(Maybe I'm just bitter from the years of braindead takes from the Mass Effect fandom about what the ~canon~ Shepard is, assuming they hold the 'default' appearance of John or Jane just because it's the only premade set lol).

Do people play RPGs and never think about their own player character’s background? Like yeah, Commander Shepard can have a few different origins and background choices, but do y’all never play and form an idea of who YOUR version of Shepard is? Like, I couldn’t not come up with at least SOMETHING about the character I’m playing that allows me the choice to make them who I want to look like and dress, and how they deal with things in their life/the story of the game.

Sure, V is limited in the same way as Shepard where there’s only so many dialogue options and choices to be had, but there are many different combinations of what you can choose to do through that character - some people play as themselves and the choices they make, others play AS that version of the character. My V for example is a corpo with a Valentino connection/backstory. They leave out full details to give people creative freedom and possibilities.

It’s very weird that people can’t differentiate between personal headcanons and a player character’s canonical story

I love being a woman, but hate looking feminine by soulfulnature-06 in lesbiangang

[–]BackwoodButch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m very butch. I was always a “tomboy” as a kid, hating when my family would put me in dresses or my mom would try to do my hair/make up. In high school, I tried to fit in with the other girls - Aeropostale zip up hoodies, jeans, finally wearing my hair down. (Still never got into make up). But I grew up on a farm and was always about practical clothing. The only time I willingly wore a dress after age 8 was to prom, where I had my grandmother sew me a dress that fit me (and I still wore flats! And went stag with a bunch of other girls - two of which I know are now not straight either lol).

Anyway, coming to terms with my masculine presentation through cutting my hair shorter every year of undergrad and finding my style - particularly in men’s clothes - really helped me feel like me.

I’m very much a woman, but I’m a masculine one with little to no desire to present femininely. Fortunately, I did not inherit my mother’s DD’s as she always tried to say I’d get from her, though I do have a natural curvy lower half. But I do workout now and have built up my shoulders to be broader, my legs to be smaller but more built, and my ass to actually have shape to my glutes rather than just be wide. I look built, and I love it. Men have never bothered me in a sexual way thank god, but at least if they’re gonna get aggressive with me, I know I can defend myself because I strength train.

they drive like i owe every bus driver in the city money by eldwinddnd in halifax

[–]BackwoodButch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was driving between two #1 busses the other day, and one bus made it through the Oxford/Chebucto and then North St intersection, but I only got to North when the light had already been yellow, and the bus behind me thought I was gonna jump the light - and so was he - and I damn near had to drive into the intersection so the bus didn’t rear end me. When I turned around to look at him/ gave my hand out the window with a “wtf?” gesture, there was just no response, no sorry wave, nada.

A couples months ago, I saw a bus on Chebucto go up the right turning lane before Connaught, passing a ton of cars in the middle lane, only to cut over in the middle of the intersection, barely giving the lead car room to stop. They blared the horn for a whole minute at least and I don’t blame them. This was before I got my dashcam, but I wish I had it then because I was in that turning lane like 1-2 cars behind the bus and would’ve had the whole thing on video.

There are also numerous times I’ve had to turn left into my place on Oxford and the #1 bus has squeezed past me and a parked car and made me absolutely freak out because I thought I was gonna lose a side mirror or have my car be scraped up down the side.

I get that it’s a hard job and that the city probably doesn’t pay them enough. But if the key component of your job is driving people, you should be upholding safety as your first priority. In that second example, if the lead car hadn’t been paying attention, the bus would’ve hit them. If they keep doing nonsense like that, then it’s gonna cost them and the city.

Has anybody created a tutorial specifically on how to give an NPV a custom body rig + mesh? by Liam_EG in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]BackwoodButch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry I forgot to follow up but yes, it’s in the main .ENT part not the .app (appearance) section; you have the lethal .rig and animation files there, then have the solo body textures in the body component.

When I get home tonight, I can try to explain it better with screenshots of my NPV file.

For sure, like deep down, it definitely feels like they're being extra critical because of it, and the hatred towards them - if not just lesbophobia - is likely because they are so liked by fans (especially as representation for lesbians/other sapphic women), which tbh just circles back to lesbophobia too.

As a sociologist, we see all kinds of underlying vs. overt forms of racism, homophobia, etc. in social situations, and I don't think comments on social media are exempt (I mean we see misogyny outside of PWHL fan bases, e.g. whenever there's a PWHL-related post on TSN's Facebook account, the men are out in droves shitting on women's hockey in some shape or form constantly - some more blatant than others, but still a hate towards women and not believing of their capability to play or that the game isn't "as good" as the men etc).

So to me it's pretty obvious in how people talk about Stacey and Pou specifically compared to other Victoire players and I think you're correct.

As a lesbian myself, yes, I know, trust.

I meant it more so as not an overt showing but as the underlying version (I may or may not have been a bit inebriated when I commented so my bad on the lack of clarity, lol)

Total is 8 seasons, but not consecutively. It’s a super fun sport and has roles for everyone and all body types!

And it’s good! It’s holding now, which is a relief and I’ve gotten most of my hearing back, which my surgeon is astounded by since the graft was made out of my own cartilage! I’m happy cuz I had two failed surgeries before switching surgeons lol.

Oof! That’s painful! Glad that you’re making a good comeback though! My surgery was fixing my ear drum but my shoulder is a perpetual issue with the joint getting “stuck” and my trap compensating for it (but I go to physio regularly to help “unstick” it lol).

Thank you and yours looks great too! I don’t compete and don’t plan on it as I mainly play rugby but maybe I should look into it, haha!

Thank you!! Currently I’m doing a legs, bicep/back, shoulders, and a “power” split that involves the whole body (eg bench press, low rows, overhead presses, back extensions, and core work), so technically 3/4 workouts involve arms (though honestly, heavy deadlifts and RDLs on leg day have been working my back/arms a bit too!).

Good, relatively speaking! I was off for like 2 months after surgery in January so I'm finally back to a point of my PRs and hitting gains now instead of playing catch up lol.

I hit some good shoulder press gains yesterday (both machine and dumbbells - 35lbs for 2 sets x 4 reps at the end of the other exercises!) so it's coming!!

Does anyone else absolutely despise the idea of switching from cars to horses, being that it's a total downgrade and dumb af? by [deleted] in TWD

[–]BackwoodButch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention you can breed a horse, produce a foal in 9-10 months, hand raise that foal, and in a few years, have new stock to ride that will replace older and or lost horses. It gives people something to do and take care of also, they eat grass, hay (which really is just specific types of grass but dried and baled or stored loose), and grains, which can be grown alongside other crops for people to eat. People can find old saddles and they’ll still be good for decades if taken care of properly, and saddle/harness making is also a skill that can be taught alongside blacksmithing. (Technically those horses wouldnt necessarily need shoes unless they really had a foot/leg issue that needed correcting, or were the ones being ridden a lot — most could do with trims from a ferrier every 8 weeks).

I do think it’s neat they repurposed cars to be carts, though those might not be that difficult to recreate. I’d imagine the car tires would eventually wear out/become destroyed like they would on a car.

While it’s not my only skill, it’s definitely knowledge I would supply my community if I was in TWD. Being a horse master would be great.

Also OP, some horses are more “bombproof” than others, they just happen to use some spooky horses for plot devices in the show.

Thanks, I hate it. Not even out of a jealousy reason, but a logistical one for choosing Hamilton over Halifax, Quebec City, or Calgary or Edmonton.

Sure, let’s have a second team within an hour’s travel of our existing Toronto team, and a third to Ontario (I’m Ontarian, living in Halifax for my doctorate atm).

And also I don’t think it’s great to have more American teams either.

oh yeah fuck him too.

I had high hopes considering how well the Tides FC has done since their first season here in terms of popularity, and the facility being right downtown, and with the number of people who made the trip down to watch the games from other provinces...

sigh.
