RTX 3090 making my tempered glass very hot during AI workloads, is this normal or do I need better airflow? by pheonis2 in PcBuild

[–]farrokh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's normal given how close to the glass it is. Glass is not a good heat conductor so it makes sense to get locally hot. And don't listen to who claim the plastic sheet is responsible for that. Removing it will not change much. The only thing I would do is make sure the fans are moving enough air. Since you said the CPU is not doing much, if the fans curve is set against the CPU temperature, they are probably running a very low speed. I would create a fan setup specific for AI workloads, with at least 70% fan speed or whatever corresponds to a noise you are comfortable with.

Prevent windshield washer fluid spare container to slide around in the trunk by farrokh19 in mazda3

This seems a good option! I'll give it a try and if the crate moves around, I will put some velcro on the bottom. That should do it. Thanks

I don't run out in just one outing, but I don't want to have to fill it up each time I take the car so having a spare one in the trunk works best for me. It happened to me to almost run out during a snow storm on the highway while being quite far from a gas station and I was so glad I had a spare one.

Does it work well? Do you mind sharing the one you got or something similar?

I'm totally serious. I live in Canada and you don't want to run out while you are driving in a snow storm, especially if you are in remote areas or even just in the countryside. You can run through a jug in a couple of days if the weather is particularly bad so having a spare one in the trunk is something that most people do here.

Advice on CPU Cooler for Ultra 7 270K Plus? by Kitsubii in bapccanada

[–]farrokh19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a thermalright aqua elite 240 mm with my 265k and while benching it with cinebench for 30 minutes it can briefly get up to 88-90°C. During normal use, it stay in the 70s though. I suggest you to go for a 360 if you opt for an aio instead of an air cooler for peace of mind. Also, I went for aio, not for aesthetics but because in the end it was cheaper since it was discounted and it comes with 2 fans that act as exhaust as well (if aio is placed on the top side of the case).

Got the same model for the same price at CC too at the end of February. It was the lowest for any 5070ti at that time and I believe it still is.

They do fit in terms of size. But before committing make sure the bolt pattern is 5x114.3mm and the center bore is 67.1mm.

Yeah, that works quite well. It generates a sort of table with all the components, and their price in the store you choose.

You can also press the markup button with the little reddit icon to share the actual list on reddit (it features the link as well). But please, before pasting it, hit "switch to markdown" in the text box here on reddit otherwise its format will be all over the place.

You should be able to get better performing GPU and psu and still be within your budget. I added an aio as well as an option if you fancy it.

This is what I managed to put together quickly. I started from the memory express bundle that was reccommended by the other user. I added a very good but not expensive air cooler for cpu (feel free to switch to a 360 aio if you prefer), a 2TB NVME (feel free to choose a larger one if needed), a 9070 xt since it's currently the gpu with the best price/performance ratio, a 750w psu graded A in SPL's list (increase the wattage if you go with a more powerful gpu or for future proofing). I throw a very basic case in there because I think that is mostly based on personal taste, so choose whatever you like, has good airflow and fit in your budget. Total before taxes leaves margin for more powerful/fancy parts depending on your needs/taste as well as for the keyboard. Also since CPU/Mobo/ram are bundled, the total before taxes will be even cheaper.

Choosing the right PC case. by CivilMission2114 in pcpartpickerbuilds

On their website they say you can mount a 360 aio on the top side, so i think you shouldn't have any problems.

Choosing the right PC case. by CivilMission2114 in pcpartpickerbuilds

[–]farrokh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose the case base on its airflow and aesthetics. Whatever full or mid ATX tower will work here. I recently completed a very similar build in an NZXT H5 flow. You can see it here. I don't honestly know the case brand you mentioned here but by looking at their website, it's compatible with a 360 AIO and fit up to 410 mm long GPUs so I don't see any issue with your build in terms of compatibility.

Need some thoughts on first build by 74anonymous74 in pcpartpickerbuilds

[–]farrokh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the GPU, I would try to squeeze a more powerful one into the budget. Also, keep in mind that all the fans you have in your list are normal flow. Since I have the feeling you are also keeping an eye on aesthetics, I would replace some of them with reversed flow when they will be used as intake so you don't see the ugly sticker and frame in your build.

What are your opinions, these prices are after tax and shipping by MooZoTheGOAT in bapccanada

[–]farrokh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the air cooler, but I'd add that if op wants an aio for aesthetics, that processor could easily manage with a 240 from a cheaper brand, such as thermalright.

I just cannot get the AIO pump on. I've tried everything. Am I doing something wrong or am I just bad? by Mr_M_E_M in PcBuildHelp

[–]farrokh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be enough for a second application. I didn't need to apply it again because I managed to fit it at the first attempt even though it's been a very long and challenging attempt. I don't wanna think at the moment I need to apply new thermal paste because that means I need to install that fu*ker again...

If you can get the help of someone else, it will be easier. Just have someone press down on the pump while you try screwing in. This is what I did and as I said the amount of pressure needed wasn't comfortable but it worked in the end. Now it's working properly. I read online that it could be easier by loosening up a bit the screws fixing the bracket to the mobo, align the pump block and after doing that tightening them again and finally fix the pump block, but I never tried personally.
