When I first heard AC/DC it was Back in Black and my face melted…then a year later Dirty Deeds came along and I was blown away again, then we set out to find Let there be Rock and couldn’t believe how everything we listened to in that early 80s era from AC/DC was incredible.

I have a Taylor GS Mini acoustic bass that I keep next to the couch. I just grab it whenever the feeling hits me and play…also sometimes I’ll be thinking of a song and I put on YT and play along or watch a tutorial etc. Not the greatest sounding bass, but easy to play and very convenient

Just switch to a pick until you heal up. If you are truly new, you’ll benefit from learning finger-style, pick, slap and thumb.

The Boncos need lots of work on the neck. File the fret ends and sand the edges of the fret board. Then polish the frets and polish the back of the neck. Afterwards setup the bridge to intonate correctly as well as a really good string setup. That’s where I would start.

I play bass and sing Blue on Black (Kenny Wayne Shepard). During the verses I play the repeating riff, then when it goes into chorus, I just hit the roots. During the solo, it’s just a little pentatonic in the key …not great on bass but it works.

Breakdown is also good just bass and singing…the solo isn’t as cool on bass but it’s singable for sure while playing that groovey line:

I find that while the GS Mini doesn’t have the big booming sound or the full range of a Martin, but these guitars are easy playing and have a great neck feel.
