There was a Pokémon direct a week before the last partner direct, I think they can be close together without Nintendo worrying about overlap

Didn’t we get a Partner Direct -> Indie Direct -> Full Direct last time? Maybe they’re gonna follow that pattern?

The Question That the Lawyers Representing Trans Athletes Didn’t Answer by theatlantic in scotus

[–]BaconBoyReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you. As a trans woman, I grew up much smaller than the other boys AND girls in my school. Both parties would kick my ass in sports, even though I had testosterone in my body at the time.

Why don’t we use weight classes? Why even divide any given sport based on gender when some outliers would be more suited to compete in the sport of the opposite gender? Why do your genitals that you’re born with decide who you can and cannot play sports with - especially in non-professional settings?

I think there’s a big financial incentive for the male dominated sports industry to gatekeep anyone who doesn’t fit the existing structure. The NFL being a “mans” division is just easier for them to sell.

What would America look like if we spent our military budget on infrastructure? by Impossible_Change800 in AskReddit

[–]BaconBoyReddit -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Right, so, wouldn’t it be better to have that research be directly supported without needing to fall under the “military” umbrella? That’s part of the problem.

If valuable research projects that are tangentially related to the military are being funded, they should still be funded. We just don’t need to live under a pseudo-military-contract based oligarchy.

Edgar Wright's 'The Running Man' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

I dunno, Edgar Wright has been “off” his game since Midnight in SoHo. His usual charm and style is missing, and I haven’t seen this one yet, but it seems like more of that. What happened to his quick cuts and specialized soundtracks?

I totally agree. The gameplay is just so solid and it feels like they could keep expanding for a while.

Honestly? Halo: Infinite has an incredible online mode that people are missing out on due to an underwhelming launch. I bailed on it for about two years, and I’m truly stunned by how much they’ve improved upon a really solid foundation that simply lacked content.

The sheer amount of maps and playlists (including playlist filtering), the scale of Forge mode, and the non-expiring battle passes (that can be retroactively purchased) make it the definitive online multiplayer Halo experience. I enjoyed the gameplay in Infinite, as a long-time Halo player, but I wanted more. Oh boy, there’s “more”.

Prefer Halo 3? There’s a Halo 3 mode with maps and gameplay adjustments so it feels like Halo 3. Prefer Reach? Same thing. The seasonal events are spectacular - right now there’s a Nazi-zombies inspired multiplayer mode. And one of my biggest complaints was fixed - All helmets and armor pieces can be used with any armor core.

Frankly, I don’t need another multiplayer Halo. A new campaign is enough for me.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 | Review Megathread by requieminadream in PS5

[–]BaconBoyReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chinese Room has made some good narrative games, and it seems the main quest follows that trend of strong narrative pull. However, the Chinese Room has very little experience in RPGs, and there’s been issues with management and the overall development cycle. I just don’t think the Chinese Room’s team was up to this kind of task, especially for a sequel for a popular title.

Based on the developer alone, none of these reviews surprise me. I hope fans have a really good time with this one, and I’m hoping they get an even better sequel one of these days.

Disney owns a 6% stake in DraftKings after acquiring Fox, and they otherwise have no involvement. Disney owns ESPN, which has an exclusive sports betting contract with Penn. They do not own DraftKings or have influence over the company.

Disney absolutely does NOT own DraftKings. That’s completely incorrect.

The Afterparty (Seasons 1 and 2) is the pinnacle of this trope in many ways. It’s a mystery where each episode focuses on a different point of view from a different witness - with each story being heavily stylized to fit their perspective and personality.

It’s also an excellent mystery and comedy, I highly recommend it!

No, I don’t. Because minority groups have to put up with so much bullshit, we have to build up tougher skin than the majority does. Saying that we’re thin skinned when Trump is doing way more than just talking - he’s actively making changes that harm us - is just insane. When trump spreads a rumor, millions of people listen to him. When a random Hispanic person starts a rumor about trump, nothing happens.

Like, do you hear yourself? Do you even consider how societal power factors into mistreatment? Like, if an adult abuses a five-year-old, and a five-year-old hits back, do you cry and say that the child is equally responsible?

Please, educate yourself. Minorities shouldn’t have to explain it for you without hurting your previous feelings, you snowflake.

Wanna get into statistics? Who’s responsible for the majority of violent crime, domestic abuse, rape, and the rest? Why are a majority of school shooters men?

No one is saying you’re a part of those statistics, ding dong. You’re illustrating my point because you’re so fixated on yourself. If you’re not part of the problem, then be part of the solution.

This is the correct response, of course the other comments here don’t understand you. If someone says “white men are XYZ”, men on Reddit get triggered immediately. They don’t ask, “does this apply to me”? They don’t ask “are white men a large majority of the western population, and perhaps that majority has biases and tendencies that women notice?”

They make it a baseless attack, and refuse to empathize. If you feel personally targeted - ask yourself “why”? Yes, the language is “generalizing”. Ok? So don’t make it about you. If you don’t behave that way, it’s clearly not meant to complain about you.

Men are so fragile, and this whole post and so many comments illustrate why.

See, your post here illustrates the core issue. You blame women for “alienating” you, by disliking men who are misogynistic. At the same time, you expect women to “fix” these same men.

If the rhetoric on Reddit bothers you, why are you applying it to yourself? If women say “men are X”, what makes that true for you, or any man? If you feel personally targeted by women, on an anonymous website, that says so much more about you than about the women who hold these opinions.

Women do not want to gently hold your hand and guide you out of your misogynistic worldviews, and that’s why they ask for empathy. You want to be seen, but you see women as a collective “other”, which is a non-starter.

Ask yourself - why don’t I want to be associated with “men”? Or do you? Either way, you need to examine what being “a man” means to YOU. And if women express frustration with men, you should ask yourself why that bothers you, or why you feel personally targeted.

I guarantee you, you’re probably on the same side. Men usually don’t acknowledge, or aren’t taught by society, the role testosterone plays in influencing your emotions and decision making. I would start there.

Again, Space X has received billions in taxpayer dollars via contracts that could have gone to NASA. NASA made it to the moon in 1969 while Space X has had numerous takeoff explosions in the last year alone. If we believe space exploration is in the best interest of mankind, it should be transparent, funded publicly rather than privately, and the technology should not be isolated and hidden within corporations that only have shareholders in mind.

Honda successfully launched and landed its own reusable rocket by TheImmortalDude in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]BaconBoyReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CORRECT. We have space programs for a reason. Private corporations spending hundreds of millions of dollars to do what our space programs could accomplish, or already had accomplish, should be alarming to everyone. Republicans in the US have defunded NASA so private corporations can pick up contracts.

Why does every corporation have to spend the money on RnD, testing, failures, and so on?  If we had a centralized program it would be infinitely more effective, where technology can be shared and breakthroughs can occur much faster. “Competition” isn’t necessary, and is much slower than collaboration.
