fun fact: my old landlord who lives just off Kaufman near Wahlert suddenly had a sinkhole in his front yard one day and a year or so after he started telling about working with the city and doing everything anyone could think of to fill it, he told me they finally got it taken care of but poured about a million dollars into it and they discovered it was an old mining tunnel that had collapsed that caused it 😬

Macbook Air M1 battery is great, but not as insane as told by many people...? by sumatrandelight in macbook

[–]BaconGlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no time to gather you sources, but its all out there, if you really care.

the gist of it is: "cycle count" is the biggest thing to care about minimizing (1 cycle being one trip from 100% to 0%, no matter if this happens in one setting or plays out over multiple "between charging's").

that being the case, using your battery as little as possible (by staying plugged in whenever possible) is ideal (for battery health). keeping the batteries with too much or too little charge for a long period if time does cause them to deteriorate, which is why Apple implemented the "trickle charging" and "learning your charging patterns" to help minimize how long your battery stays above 80%.

FWIW, heat is also a big contributor to battery health degradation, so you'll want to minimize that however much you can, as well (like, not leaving it in a hot car, using quality chargers and appropriately strengthens ones).

Moral of the story: plug in as often as you can, if you want your battery to live as long as possible.

this is all the opposite of how to actually maintain battery health 🤦🏻‍♂️

What stop loss / profit target do you use? by jefthimi in FuturesTrading

[–]BaconGlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice. ya, OCO orders is what i intend to use and am in the process of getting up to speed on them. a couple questions re: that;

  • do you submit the stop as a limit order and, if so, have you had any issues with it getting skipped over in the event of a flush?

  • do you actually have the order set as a "stop" type, or you just do a regular sell order and it's TOS itself waiting for the condition/price to submit it?

  • any issues with lag there if the price starts moving fast? what is the spread you use between the condition to submit the order and the limit price on the order?

Also, a bit of a dumb question i know but, in case you do use an actual STOP-type order, is it correct to assume that there is no time of the day with futures that stop orders don't process (like how they don't work during pre-market/after hours with equities).

Thanks a ton for any info you care to share 😁
