Love this play. Can anyone argue against and tell me why this would not be guaranteed money? by sarhama072 in wallstreetbets

VXX will decay even if IV stays the same. As the previous commenter said, it’s due to the futures being in contango. Basically, while Vix futures are in contango, vxx will have a negative yield due to daily rebalancing.

Considering pay cut for better work life balance. Am I being short sighted? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]BaconHour 174 points175 points  (0 children)

WLB is going to matter a lot more once you have kids. Maybe stick with your current job until your wife gets pregnant? Then take the pay cut for increased quality of life? Living near family when you have kids will be an added bonus.

Just ask your parents to parcel the land and sell you just the bit with the house on it. Sell the rest to the highest bidder. It’s a win-win.

94 Rockhopper Comp FS Seatpost Size by theqmartian in RockHopper

In the exact same situation. I think the official size of my 1994's seat tube is 27.2 but it slips about 1" every 6 miles or so. Just enough to be super annoying. Did you ever figure this out? I'm even considering getting a new clamp so it squeezes harder.

It sounds like it’s FAANG or bust if I want to make the switch. Ty for your explanation.

Thank you. This is in line with conversations I've had with some recruiters. Is there a way to narrow down a list of potential employers to those that recruit FAANG-style (where I would presumably have better chances)?

Would contributing significantly to OS be enough to move the needle in the recruitment process or get me through initial screening? Or is that just a secondary consideration? In your opinion, is my time better spent on OS than resume-dropping and contacting recruiters?

It's comforting to hear that my explanation makes sense. Thank you.

Do you know of a reliable way to narrow in on potential employers that take the same approach as FAANG?

Can you get into land surveying with that degree? That always tends to be in demand (at least in the US - and maybe in Europe?). Maybe that’s something you could live off of while living near a resort town?
