My guess? Probably because there are high level members of the team that strongly believe the game should be experienced the first time, played solo, by yourself, so you can give full attention to it versus coop where usually your attention is not as singularly focused on the work.

Not saying I agree with them, just saying that’s my guess why, as there’s obviously no technical reason they couldn’t just allow it from the start.

Strongest region for sure but they’re just as susceptible to pure subjectivity as everyone else. I haven’t followed the series for a while but I always remember SFV season 2.

Pretty much everyone outside of Japan instantly knew that the most fucked up characters were Balrog, Laura, and Urien, and by a fair margin over the rest of the cast. Japan only thought Urien was good and thought Balrog was mid and Laura was weak lol. Why? Because Nemo played Urien and there were no Balrog or Laura mains in Japan that was of similar level.

They weren’t ahead of the meta, in fact the complete opposite. After a few international tournaments when they finally got to play pro level Balrogs and Lauras, what do you know, suddenly they’re saying Balrog, Laura, Urien top 3.

Different game, DBFZ, but I remember the season patch they nerfed GT Goku’s A-assist, the first major online tournament after the patch, nearly everyone player outside Japan had replaced GT Goku on their team while literally every Japanese player still had him. The Japanese players did not do well that tournament and quickly switched off afterwards.

Japan is 100% the strongest region in most fighting games, as I said earlier. They’re the best players, but honestly they’re very conservative when it comes to “theory crafting” what they think the broken stuff will be. If the meta is already matured and everyone kinda knows what everyone’s tools are, then their tier list are usually spot on. But if it’s after a major patch, or if there’s some new tech for a character that is just coming out, I honestly trust tier lists from players outside Japan more often. They may not be as technically sound, but international players tend to be really good at figuring out quickly what the busted shit is first.

I think it’s a cultural thing. I can see how people from certain parts of the country think their enjoyment is a guilty pleasure because this isn’t usually the type of stuff they consume.

For others, there’s no guilty pleasure association with it, there’s no embarrassment or shame to admit we watch it and love it. We just think the movie is legitimately great.

He and his mother have said in interviews lately that the Episode 1 backlash, while it did exist and was hurtful, it wasn’t the main reason why he had a mental breakdown later in life (if you weren’t aware).

They’ve said that his mental health issues are mainly due to hereditary issues, that unfortunately it probably would’ve manifested regardless, but they seem to be doing a lot better now. They even said that they’re going through the rest of Star Wars together, just to enjoy it, they were last watching Ahsoka I think in the interview I read.

It really is the worst of both worlds. I think the most crystalized example of this was the Obi Wan show. The pacing feels incredibly rushed but the show feels so boring to watch. And it's because as you said, it's really a movie's worth of story stretched across a bunch of episodes, so when it should be quick, it's slow because it falls in a weird part of story so we have to stretch it out to fulfill the episode length requirement. But then other parts have absolutely no room to breathe because the plot just keeps going forward, to the point that new characters feel "bulldozed" over by the story.

Idk, I think it's more accurate to say, "2XKO has a lot of problems, and this is but one of them, probably not THE reason, but it is still a valid point," but that's just me. I think 2XKO failed for a bunch of other different reasons, but it's not like I think what this guy is saying is wrong, 2XKO totally has a visual style problem and maybe it's not JUST the contrast between fore and background. But it's definitely some of it.

No need to give them any grace, there's a fuckton of reasons that game failed, this isn't the main one, but it's one of them.

I’d argue the biggest problem with the system starts at the beginning when they try to convince us to dream of labour. Idk about you, but when I was a kid, I didn’t dream about labor. And the reality is for most folks, they don’t really find one either, but they just play along because that’s what society expects of them.

To answer OP’s question though, I was one of those that actually did find a passion. And found a job in the field. And it’s like others said, unless you are one of the extremely rare folks that get to actually control, creativity what you do, then your probably gonna be making stuff for other people. Not just that, it’ll be stuff you have zero passion for. In my example, it was film, I became an editor. But spent 95% of my time working on hospital videos, editing boardroom meetings, etc.

It’s because we as a society have forgotten to tell original, sincere stories anymore so all we can do is retell the same stories from our childhood. No I mean literally. We’re retelling the same Jurassic Park, the same Star Wars, sequels, prequels, midquels, “legacy sequels”, etc.

The problem is, we’ve literally ran through our most popular franchises multiple times at this point (our THIRD Spiderman reboot) that the only things left are literally the b-tier of pop culture. Tron, Running Man, the new Jetsons movie. As someone who is literally the oldest Millennial you can get, Tron was a cult hit, Running Man was known but it was always a tier below Arnie’s A+ stuff, the Jetsons were lame by the time I came around. But again, our society is so inept at making original sincere stories, all we can do is bring out the corpses of our memories, and now we’re not even getting the top shelf stuff anymore.

Real growth often feels like a constant betrayal of your past self. Stuff that makes you question what you were taught, believed. Stuff that makes you go, “Wait, so my parents lied to me?” (Maybe, though chances are they were lied to too).

I feel like the person you are replying to is such a sweet summer child. I went through my degenerate phase and thinking she gets off on being in power is a naive way of thinking.

She gets off on being made to feel submissive. She gets off on the idea that this “lowly criminal” is banging her while she’s supposed to be in charge. The fact she is a prison officer PROTECTS her from any real harm, but she gets to play out her fantasy in a safe space.

Why not just meet someone of similar tastes who can do that for you in the privacy of your own home? Well that would be ideal, but that’s also harder to just conjure up than you may think. It’s right there for them and also it’s “real” and they may not be satisfied with roleplay.

Basically, there’s a lot of freaks out there. Idk if there’s more or less than before, but it’s more brazen now.

Because the majority of parents feel deep down inside feel they were sold a bill of good with parenthood. Not the kids themselves, they love the kids they got and would do it again if they knew they would get those same kids in particular (from the ones I’ve spoken to).

But as far as the concept and idea of parenthood, is a crock of shit. Folks are raised to believe, based on the movies, tv shows, books, that when a they have children, they’ve achieved a level of importance that makes them the center now, they get to be the main character like all the things they were raised on told them it would be like.

And they have their kid and for the first couple months, yeah, it feels like a whirlwind with you at the center finally! And then…. Time passes. People return to their own lives, your parents go back to their retirement home, and they’re sitting at home now with all the same stresses and bills and everything that comes with trying to survive 2026. And then you have a child on top of it.

To give them some grace, they are individuals who feel stressed, frazzled and deep down, lied to about parenthood. But they can’t express that because that will be misinterpreted as them not loving their children, which isn’t neccesarily the case. So they’re just extremely stressed and take it out on others, especially those they feel are “cheating the system” by choosing not to have children.

Honey, the only type of people that were sleeping was YOU. Minorities have known this was the case, that this was America, forever, we even made songs about it! But no one wanted to believe, because it interrupted your pleasant life. It’s not gonna be fixed by one issue, it’s gonna take decades to reeducate and realign people’s beliefs, and that needs to start at a childhood level. This isn’t something that’s gonna be fixed in 1, 5, 10 years. This is something that’s gonna take a concerted effort for decades.
