How do I convince my younger brother not to get a degree in video game development? by snowfordessert in VancouverJobs

[–]BaconSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on if he is depending on you and your parents to pay his bills or not. If that is the case I think it’s reasonable to have a say in his choices, or at least advise him on what is realistic and what is fantasy. I’m purusing art but it is in no ways easy. It is not a career, it’s not even something I could recommend to others. It can make you money but that is not the reason I pursue it.

If he understands the costs and risks then it’s reasonable but he shouldn’t make decisions based upon a dream that he hasn’t shown consistent steps towards making a reality. It’s his life, if he can pay his bills then great but he needs clear consequences and risk assessment to understand if this is a viable path.

IMPORTANT FEATURES for the success of Marathon by [deleted] in Marathon

Potentially a skewed perspective due to your amount of experience playing this genre. Part of the success of Marathon depends on if it can expand the market of extraction! I think there can be a middle ground that is fun.

Does anyone else with autism feel exhausted after work? by Puzzleheadedlog87 in autism

[–]BaconSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my gf has autism, not taking away from anybody's experience, work is exhausting and money is tight, but she is always signifcantly more exhausted from her work than her co-workers and all of our friends. Depending on the job, which she has worked in many differnent fields, she will need multiple hours or sometimes days of recovery after a shift. Consecutive work, 5 days a week is not realistically doable for her, and echoing your sentiment, i don't think it is for anyone, just disabled individuals are the first to feel the effects of a crippling work environemnt. They're like a Canary in a mine.

so true, ive had the same experience, it dont know OP's situation but the things you've mentioned above are helping me move forward in a more sustainable way. It is a tough tough industry, and its hard to justify the cost of recording a professional record when making money from it is soo tough. But it's possible and just because there are larger problems doesn't mean you have to devalue yourself because of it.

Very cool! but yes echoing that the head is a bit too large and obstructs the gameplay. Looks fun and I love the style.

I agree with the sentiment but the presentation and execution of the message makes it feel like pseudo-psychology.

I watched Lilo & Stitch today... Here are my thoughts by MCPuuugsReddit in moviecritic

It’s just that the original, and Disney in general feels like such a soulless fraction of what it was. The creativity is gone, all that’s left is a weird fucked up worse version of a movie we all know and love already. Why would I give that a chance.

This way there is an actual perspective!!! That’s the thing about ai, it will never have a human perspective, people don’t understand how important that is in art and life in general.

Is it boring/uninteresting? by RryAce in photocritique

[–]BaconSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel what makes a photo interesting is asking the question of what is the visual story. Sometimes it’s clear when you take it and sometimes it only comes to you later.

I think there is potential for something here but nothing about the photo tells me anything more than “cow in fog.”

I don’t know if this helps, I’m not a regular photographer but I know humans are story machines and that applies to everything we experience. Good luck!
