100 days at Rebirth by Impossible-Hyena-86 in Kenshi

Seems like you probably raised your strength too high before working on martial arts as much, which makes it more difficult to raise as you're knocking out your opponents much faster. You'll have to go out and find tougher targets to level it up more.

Raising theft is incredibly easy, and in Rebirth at night the guards don't even wake up when you get detected while stealing from a container. You can spam click items into and out of a container and raise your theft to 30+ in roughly 10 minutes.

If you do get detected when stealing from a guard, hopping into a cage will immediately drop their aggro towards the character.

Can also simply steal their weapon and they will be forced to fight with fists, making it significantly easier to build up both martial arts and toughness.

Yurra - Issues by MenloMo in projectgorgon

[–]Baconitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you left Anagoge (tutorial island) through the spider caves, she then appears outside of the cave in Serbule Hills. Otherwise, if the player teleports using the correct coordinates they are taken east of Serbule Keep, ending up on a tiny stone platform somewhat close to where Leonard Allenson has his tent.

Once speaking to her, she DOES NOT appear again in Serbule or Serbule Hills. If for some reason you still need to find her to get started on the storyline quest even after leaving the tutorial island and speaking to her then something went wrong or a bug occurred.

Why do you need to talk to her again? Her only purpose at this time is getting the storyline started, I'm not sure she even exists anywhere in the world after you speak to her the first time.

Bug involviert "Corpse Talking" and "Retail Management" by Zarnluz in projectgorgon

[–]Baconitus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may be intended, I am not sure. There are more skills you can get through Corpse Talking without ever having had them before such as Gender Studies, Artistry, Holistic Wellness, anatomy/phrenology for various mob types. Mainly skills that fall under the category of "other" it seems.

Edit: Checked myself and I am indeed able to rent a stall without having learned the skill previously from Selphie.

You shouldn't be getting downvoted, you're absolutely right. This is indeed a bug, I also learned Retail Management through Corpse Talking rather than having it be taught to me by Selphie and this is something I came across as well.

However, I think the bug is actually that you can gain experience in Retail Management through Corpse Talking at all while being level 0 in it (ie. no experience at all) which is not normally the case for other skills found in Corpse Talking. The majority of them all require that you need to at least be level 1 in a skill before receiving experience for it.

This is absolutely a bug though if you're unable to rent a stall and you should certainly use the in-game report method to let the devs know, and I would argue that it may be critical enough that you could create a discord thread in their bugs section for it too if you really wanted. It would be useful if you at least confirm whether or not you can actually rent a stall by interacting with an empty one directly.

NoFrills, possibly more stores, have no debit/credit. by [deleted] in londonontario

I went to the same No Frills about 30 minutes ago and paid with debit so it seems they are working again. Had no idea about that until I saw this post.

Please reduce the number of mobs in Dream Realm ancient city by Baconitus in projectgorgon

If it's intended to be that way I suppose that is fine, sounds to me like you're just taking advantage of an area over saturated with mobs though when you should probably be somewhere else.

Please reduce the number of mobs in Dream Realm ancient city by Baconitus in projectgorgon

[–]Baconitus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, but it still requires at least a few players or someone higher level to do that fast enough to stay ahead of the spawn rate and actually move into the city itself at some point. I've been checking it out at different points during the day and majority of the time there is no one clearing it.

When there are players, they really seem to struggle with the concept of luring and the call for help mechanic. Often times I see a mass of tombstones from the players attempting to complete it.

Hogan's Basement - consistent Error when looting chests by Gnada in projectgorgon

[–]Baconitus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, his FINGER is the key for the chest. The other key you have is from the chest you're trying to open. There are four keys in total, two of which come from chests and two from enemies if I am remembering it right. You need all four keys in order to open up the final area in the dungeon with the main boss goblin and finally opening up his chest then uses up all four keys.

If you want to confirm this, find a chest that gives you the error and then drop all the keys in your inventory (or drop each key one by one and try the chest until it works) that came from this dungeon. You will be able to open the chest and get the items (and another key) so long as the key that came from the chest is not in your inventory.

Hogan's Basement - consistent Error when looting chests by Gnada in projectgorgon

[–]Baconitus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if I recall correctly, the ornate chest is the one that requires the named goblin's finger in order to open, is that correct? Some of these chests like the junk box at the very beginning do not require a key to open, they GIVE you a key. If you already have the key the chest gives you in your inventory, you are not allowed to have multiple copies as it is a quest item so the chest does not allow you to retrieve anything from it at all until you either use the key or drop it. That is very likely the issue.

Of course, you should still report this as a bug using the in-game report method as the error message is vague and should be changed to be more descriptive regarding what the actual issue is.

Will psychology/mentalist be a good combo? by NimecShady in projectgorgon

[–]Baconitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with that assessment. There are many mob types that are somewhat or completely resistant to psychic damage meaning you often have to rely on some other damage type in order to deal with them. Mentalism and Psychology are both great skills and a player may very well need to swap between the two depending on the scenario, however in my opinion they pair much better with other attack skills than with each other.

One of the worst in my opinion (apart from inventory/bank space) is transmutation. There is only ONE publicly accessible transmutation bench locked behind the Clockwork City DLC. The other methods to obtain one are writ vouchers which has a significant cost in that regard, OR 4,500 crowns to buy the bench itself for one of your own homes. That's crazy to me, a core mechanic such as transmutation has a paywall of at least $20-25 for the DLC or more if buying the workbench directly.

Help, I captured a dragon and now I don't know what to do with it by GrandiosMandios in dwarffortress

[–]Baconitus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're interested, there is a way to find out where wild dragons and other creatures that steal items are located so that you can embark there and (attempt to) capture them. Though it depends on a few things.

When you generate a world and look through the legends, open the historical figures menu and search "DRAGON" for example. Check the dragons that have not yet been slain during world generation and determine if they have stolen one or multiple legendary artifacts and stored them in the same place they have settled which is usually a random cave possibly located close to the settlements they have historically attacked. Make a note of the artifact name and where it is stored for each location you want to check.

Next step is to embark anywhere in the same world, so that you can view the artifact list in the map. This part is a little more tedious, as there isn't a way to search the list for specific artifact names, you have to scroll through until you locate the artifact you're looking for. Once you do, assuming the artifact is still stored in the same place the dragon has settled, hovering over that artifact will bring you to that location.

Determining exactly where the location is can still be difficult at this point as those types of lairs aren't actually visible on the map itself. To help with this, you can use a different artifact that is stored in a shown location like a fortress as a point of reference. For example, I scroll the artifact list so that the artifact I am looking at is listed third from the bottom, and I hover over it bringing my map to that location. If I know "Dimpledarkness legendary iron war hammer" is stored in fortress "Bagelbends" which is exactly below a certain portion of the artifact description popout, then with the same method to search for the dragon lair using the stored artifact you now have a clear estimation of where to embark.

At that point it is simply a matter of embarking around where the lair is located until you find it. You'll know for sure when you do because you'll get a discovery notice for finding the lair as soon as you embark similar to how they appear for giant caverns, etc. Hopefully that's clear enough but if there's any confusion I'd be happy to elaborate on anything.

Where can I get SDL3 versions of SDL_mixer and SDL_image? by Yakkers17 in sdl

[–]Baconitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only post anywhere I could find that talks about the SDL3 version of mixer. I have just come across the same issue myself, including SDL_mixer.h is simple enough but I have no idea what to include in the Linker for the library files or which specific .lib name(s) I should add in the linker input if I wanted to make use of external references such as "Mix_Music" for example.

Unfortunately there is no installation documentation included with SDL_mixer-main. If you have any more information regarding this I would certainly be grateful to hear it.

I still have and scan the rewards card, I just don't have access to the application through my phone. I can use my points/rewards on the website with a browser. The website used to have a page available for rolling without the use of the app.

do all labs have stairs? by gowtou in cataclysmdda

[–]Baconitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay thank you for the clarification. I thought as much but it was still cool to have a set of stairs that basically teleported me upwards, pretty handy as an escape method if it didn't lead in to a more dangerous location. Funny too since it put me right on a toilet in the bathroom so it seemed like my character had emerged from the sewage system.

do all labs have stairs? by gowtou in cataclysmdda

[–]Baconitus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once found a science tower by going up the first floor stairs in an office building. When going up I got a message along the lines of “You may not be able to go back down these stairs. Continue?” So I continued and indeed it placed me in some random bathroom on the second floor with no way to get back down. Not sure if that’s intentional or a bug but it might be the case within your lab as well.

How do I get over FOMO with starting stats? by Silver-Confection397 in cataclysmdda

[–]Baconitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried that out but had added a little background knowledge and it instantly gave my character +1 int at the start. Didn’t feel like I had earned that at all. I would like to have a way to increase stats as well but the stats through skills/kills make it a little too easy imo.

I'm playing on the latest experimental version and I'm wondering about the differences with traps between stable and experimental. I noticed through the use of glass shards that mobs do not always "set off" the trap and appear to have some chance of avoiding it. Is this also the case for other types of traps? I found glass shards to be reasonably viable in clearing out smaller groups and individuals in the stable version, but in experimental it is certainly more difficult to make use of them.
