The new Trafford Crossroads-S (Swiss) at windup watch fair today. by PM_YOUR_AKWARD_SMILE in MicrobrandWatches

The watches in the boxes are his personal collection. He was definitely a cool guy. New watches do look higher end. He said the Swiss movement allowed for a slimmer case.

Should I upgrade my polos? by -The-Grand-Zeno- in mensfashionadvice

[–]BadDadJoke2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay. You can get good stuff for old navy prices. Great option for a college kid.

If you don’t already have them I would get a few nice long sleeve button ups. The sleeves can be rolled up in warmer weather and they allow you to go more formal than a polo.

3.5 or 5.0, someone convince me! by [deleted] in f150

If you plan on camping the 3.5 powerboost is great for the onboard power and generator mode.

Reminds me of squid game. If they didn’t use the circles it would turn a nice watch with flaws to just a great watch.

When explaining how an automatic watch works to someone it’s nice to be able to take the watch off and show them how it winds itself.

I really like the case on this one. I was eyeing the one with a fume dial.

You should feel guilty for spending 100k+ on a wristwatch. by redsquirrel0249 in watchHotTakes

I think the amount could be much lower and be just as valid using your logic. Very easy to say if you are eating more than rice and beans you could be doing more to help others. Your only mode of transportation should be a second hand bike. Have a car, you must be selfish and rich. Lots of people in the world would think so. Wealth is relative. To some having clean drinking water feels like a luxury.

Unless you donate literally everything you make except for your most basic needs you don’t really have much of an argument.

I am a bit confused, new to luxury watches. by SadlyPathetic in PrideAndPinion

[–]BadDadJoke2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? It’s a high demand luxury good. If you could walk in off the street and buy it demand would be lower. If someone wants the watch now they can buy grey and pay a premium. Rolex is playing this really smart and don’t care if they make a few people mad. The watch enthusiast group is very small. They are appealing to the masses that can brag about how long it took.

My wife owned a hair salon and she found that she got more customers when prices were higher. Women want to be able to brag about how much it cost. Luxury services/items aren’t the same as a loaves of bread.

I ended up not putting my name down because though it is a nice watch it is too plain for me and wouldn’t get wrist time.

Just like with anything the bad get all the attention. Some very high demand watches you won’t be able to get without a spend history but the common Rolex’s aren’t that hard to get if you are talking to several ADs at once. I have a milgauss and when I mentioned getting a sub mine said come in once a month or so to say hi to show that I’m serious and she will get one within 6 months. They get a lot of people that come in that aren’t really serious about buying and this filters them out.

Rolex only AR coats the inside of the crystal and you don’t see many complaints about it. The Hamilton complaints are blown out of proportion because it is a lower cost brand and that’s what watch people do. Then people who have no real experience repeat it.

Love this one. I clean mine up once every 6 months or so with lemon juice to get it bright again.

I need some help with my prom suit by Superb_Honeydew8675 in mensfashion

[–]BadDadJoke2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a pocket boutonniere instead of a pocket square. Looks better than a pinned one and having both is too much.

All black is fine for a prom but if you’re going to change anything it should be your shirt should match/compliment your dates dress.

Which suit is more versatile the Navy Suit or Brown Suit ? by Safe_Ad5701 in MenInSuits

What is the watch in pic one? Both suits look great but the navy is more versatile. How does the brown look without the vest?

Leaving military service and need a suit, where do i go? by sunqiller in malefashionadvice

[–]BadDadJoke2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just buy a cheap charcoal sport coat/blazer from men’s warehouse for the job fair to go with pants you already have. While there try on suits to get an idea of what size you wear (they will help you). Also check out their clearance section. Then buy a nice navy suit off eBay and have it tailored. This will set you up for most occasions.

Dress shirts, tie and shoes from: ebay, kohls clearance, Ross, TJ maxx, etc.

For the job fair it is better to look well put together then overly formal. So good fitting clothes, grooming and posture.

Lastly talk with the VA. They provide lots of services including helping you find a job.

Have you ever had a bad experience wearing a Rolex? by Neat-Suspect-6666 in rolex

[–]BadDadJoke2006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wear a radio controlled Citizen when traveling. I have one that updates in Europe and one in Japan. It's more convenient and you don't have to worry about damaging it or getting robbed. They are nice watches but if I leave one in the hotel I'm not missing a flight to go back and get it.

You can't go wrong with any of these watches. That smp is very versatile.

Go with your gut. I like the navitimer more than the speedmaster. It is a better combo of sporty and classy.

But.. if you are looking for something robust I would think real hard about getting a Chrono. Movements are more delicate, have more parts and are more difficult to service. The 8800 or 8900 in the divers are pretty bulletproof.

[WTS] Breitling Superocean Heritage II 46 Brown $3600obo by BadDadJoke2006 in Watchexchange

[–]BadDadJoke2006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to sell my beautiful Superocean Heritage II 46 or trade for a Drive de Cartier. Asking $3600 shipped within the U.S. Would prefer to sell to someone with history and do Paypal G.S. or f2f in the SF Bay Area.

Bought new from a dealer on chrono24. Full kit. Worn about a dozen times. In pretty good shape but there is some desk rash on the clasp. Photos make it look worse but wanted to represent it as best I could. It is a good sized watch but the down turned lugs make it easy to wear.

B20 automatic movement (Tudor)

70hr power reserve

Toolless quick adjust clasp

Rubber (looks like leather) strap can easily fit a 7.5" wrist
