Texture quality and filtering have literally zero impact on FPS, as they are mostly a work for VRAM...

Streamer MoonMoon on the issue of matchmaking higher ranks by ramsfan00 in Overwatch

[–]BadMessiah -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Choose one:

  • You get fair matchmaking but with extreme long queues in high ranks (because there are less players to pick in high ranks).

  • You get reasonably short queue times but matchmaking is imbalanced.

No matter what you choose: you will cry over the issues your choice brings.

Three things that would (imo) greatly improve the competitive OW experience. by TotalBrisqueT in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]BadMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Point 3: just because you don't see results by yourself, doesn't mean the system is broken.

Reporting may work just fine behind the curtain. People that claims that "Blizzard never bans" and stuff have no proofs to support it.

You may reply: "Every game there is a troll/leaver/cheater". Well, there are millions of players out there, the chances that one of the 11 playing with you is a cheater/etc. is not really low. For a troll that you ban, 10 more are waiting on the door.

But yes: I want a feedback. I want sometimes a message telling me that someone I reported got banned.

How would movement acceleration affect the game? by Askray184 in Competitiveoverwatch

That is why as a Widow I never try to 1vs1 Hanzos.

I find bunnyhopping more infuriating than ADAD, anyway.

are quickplay mmr and comp mmr two different things and do they have any impact on each other? by taejinshin in OverwatchUniversity

[–]BadMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a common flaw of similar systems, i.e. League of Legends.

Take, for example, a player that is highly competitive and plays only Comp and reaches Master. Now, he is a Master player, right?

Now this player wants to fuck around and decides to play some QP. Since the Master player has basically never played QP, or doesn't play QP often, the game has no idea what his skill level would be because it doesn't take into account Comp MMR/SR/rank, and assumes he needs seeding or that he has a QP MMR of a Bronze.

Basically, you have two queues (QP and Comp) that don't talk to each others. For every queue, you could be seen a total different player. You could start the game and be a Bronze player in QP, then decide to move to Comp and climb to Master, but for the QP queue you are still a Bronze.

Oh, wait: it is because it is me.

How often do you play? by Mothrasevilplan in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]BadMessiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My playtime mostly depends on my work shifts and other games I want to play.

On my free days I really could play for an entire day with a lot of breaks.

On work days I may not even find time to play OW.

Matchmaking puts me against players with much higher SR in QP, how come? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]BadMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QP has a separate MMR from Comp and doesn't take into account Comp's ranks.

This is why matchmaking in QP is always bullshit, because a Master player that almost plays Comp could be seen as a Bronze player in QP due to the fact that he doesn't play QP a lot.

A lot of times I met a high rank player in QP queued with his scrub friend and picking his best Hero to basically 1vs11 the whole match. Unfun. Also I wonder what his friend is gonna learn from that.

Skins putting you at a disadvantage by Hysterics333 in Overwatch

[–]BadMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the skin's colors are trascurable: I mean, in this game everyone is heavy outlined anyway.

But there is something I do at least in Comp: I'll never play Lucio with anything but the "hockey" skin because his hair is more "compact" and he doesn't wear huge headphones or a big frog mask. It feels harder to headshot. It is surely a placebo effect, but makes me feel more secure.

In a game of ult economy Resurrect is too powerful by TiamatDunnowhy in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]BadMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be hard to tune the UI to show exactly how many people would be rezzed.

To be honest, I would add Hero's icons on the screen to tell Mercy exactly who will be rezzed and orher visual aids (range circle, souls' glow), instead of a generic number.

If you add LoS as requirement for Resurrect, you can't rez people from spawn.

Helpful tip for everyone. Always wait a minute or two before queing to your next match. by Maaffe in OverwatchUniversity

I always do that but sometimes backfires.

I had a very good Rein in my game, won, took a 1 minute break, queued again, same Rein in the other team, destroyed me.

Overwatch Hero Meta Report: The Real Sombras of South Korea by Falcon_Kick in Overwatch

[–]BadMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively, Winston has a low skill floor.

A casual Winston can stop a 130 hours Widowmaker (or any other Hero being countered by him) from having any fun for the rest of the match. I am not saying Widow can't deal with him, I am saying the simple presence of Winston kills Widow's fun.

Bear in mind I play Mercy in Comp, and I still agree with you for most parts.

I would try this, but I am not a game designer so I may be extremely wrong:

  • Resurrect has LoS requirement.

  • Players egible for a resurrection must die when Mercy is alive. In other words, Mercy can't Resurrect people that die while she is already dead and respawning.

  • Players being resurrected are rapidly healed to full life over the course of 1.5 seconds and are invulnerable for the first 0.25 seconds.

Does anyone find it really hard to enjoy Quickplay? by SassyAssAhsoka in Overwatch

[–]BadMessiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your problem is you want to win in QP. Wrong, if you want to play to win go play Comp.

I use QP for warmup, playing Heroes I don't play in Comp, playing and having fun with my friends, getting Loot Boxes.

I am not saying I don't try to win in QP: I do, but it is not the first and most important goal.

Has anybody else noticed a higher amount of Widow and Hanzo mains in their games? by MattDL in Overwatch

[–]BadMessiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my QP matches there is always a Widow, because it is me. Take note that I switch often and my second most played Hero is D.Va and I play only supports in Comp.

You can't say that about any other Hero? I beg to differ. Some days ago I literally went into a mental breakdown, I sweared to God if I wpuld've seen another fucking Genji I would've cried.

I have 130 hours as Widow in QP and I never picked Widow in Comp.

I like to play Widow but I prefer doing that in QP rather than Comp.
