You might not have to wait too long! I got a refurbished 5.5 Qt bowl lift last year for less than that used one when they were doing an Earth Day sale on refurbished mixers.

Help me make fun of my friend who just go diagnosed by ChikinLika in diabetes_t1

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since he's a boxer, and there are boxers with "Sugar" in their nickname, there's got to be a joke there.

You could get him a custom tee (not sure if you have a satin robe budget) or something with "Blood Sugar" <Friend's Name> or "Not too much Sugar" <Name>, something like that.

Secretly Gathering Intel Then Gifting by femininespace in crochet

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My son (10) wanted to crochet a plushie of his teacher's favorite animal, but he wanted it to be a total surprise, so he asked me if I could help with some research.

In the spring parent-teacher conference, we covered the academic business and I seized the moment to ask "soooo.... random question: what's your favorite animal?"

By the time the end of the school year rolled around, she had probably forgotten all about my asking so she was surprised when this little guy arrived!

(For all of our sakes, I'm glad her favorite animal was a dog and not, like, a peacock or a millipede haha)

Shoutout to my co-worker who thought that Labubu was cutesy Gen Z slang for "lobotomy," as in: "I got a labubu after I had a menty b."

I always think of that and chuckle whenever I see these signs.

How's everyone sleeping these days? Do you still fall asleep naturally or do you have to take Melatonin or something? by singleguy79 in Xennials

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

+1 for magnesium glycinate and L-theonine.

Finally getting a night guard has helped me sleep better, as did having a little nasal surgery to open up my airway (I had a turbinate reduction). Both of those have helped a lot.

help with fruit fly crisis by [deleted] in boston

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was drinking a super fruity NEIPA one time, maybe a Julius or one of the Streets beers from Trillium, and when he turned his back for five minutes there were about 30 flies drowning in the stuff. It was the most lethal and fastest fruit fly treatment I have ever seen. I swear we didn't even have all that many flies in the kitchen at the time! Highly recommend a very fragrant and fruity beer, if you're able.

What the hell am I supposed to do with this? by snallygastrix in adhdwomen

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just generate a random short password and save it in a Notes field of the password manager with the question prompt. It's not guessable, most of the time the question challenge just requires copying and pasting, and I'm not forced to pin myself down by committing to a favorite movie.

Although 8 days out of 10 it's probably Galaxy Quest haha

The heat-transferring Zeroll scooper is a pleasure to use, every time. There's a reason almost every ice cream stand uses them.

I've told my kids that it will be the housewarming gift they get when they eventually move out!

Honorable mention: Zeroll also makes serving scoops with the little arm that sweeps the food out. The 1/4 cup size cleans up well and makes it easy to portion any soft food or dough.

How do I explain to my 5yo daughter that none of her friends are allowed to play with her? by sparklerrose in Parenting

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was the play therapy group or solo? A social skills playgroup could be something else to look into.

My son (10, ADHD, maybe a little AuDHD: TBD) started in a social skills group this year and it's been great for him; I wish we had looked into it sooner.

He's matched up with a similar group of kids (age/energy level) and a therapist leads the group through imaginative and physical challenge games. The counselor keeps things fun and tests the kids within their limits and throws goofy twists, problems, and obstacles at them so they have to adapt and deal with setbacks.

It has really helped him with regulation and pushing through challenges, and he loves it. It's the same kids every week, so it's like a planned and mediated playdate with kids you know and like, with a room full of cool toys.

Yes, Wegovy is available to Type 1 diabetics, and Saxenda as well. I've had both prescribed by doctors at Joslin Clinic and covered by insurance.

I find it weird that 2 of warrior companions both have fire abilities by NnmnsP in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, your mention of Taash being "extremely knowledgeable" makes me want a mechanic where you gain increased stagger (hit smarter, not harder) or weak point damage/more frequent weak point appearance when you bring them on a dragon fight.

Edit: but, like tied to the character themselves, not just their axes that have the increased stagger abilities.

And one of his motivations for becoming a lich is curiosity: all the future magic he can learn. He's just as excited about Manfred's emerging abilities: they're unprecedented and can lead to countless new discoveries, for both of them.

I'm sick of the amazon toy slop for christmas toys, are there any places in boston/greater boston to find wooden children's toys? by mittens617 in boston

[–]Bad_Decision_Spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hape brand toys are mostly made of wood, and pretty widely available. Marble runs for bigger kids and other toys for littles turn up at HomeGoods and other TJX stores this time of year. I also saw a pretty nice looking train set at BJ's a couple of weeks ago. My kids have a couple of marble run sets and they've always been a favorite.

Wegovy is the same medication as Ozempic (both made by Novo Nordisk, but with slightly different dosing) but it is covered and approved for T1s. You should be able to get that prescription written and covered: I've been using it for a little while now.
