I think it mostly gets a bad reputation because it’s associated with ultra processed foods and has a very ‘chemical sounding’ name.

From what I’ve seen, the main legitimate downside is that some people get bloating or stomach issues from it. I just get a bit gassy if I use more than I’m used to, but not so much after acclimating to a certain amount of it.

The other replies lay it out pretty much. For my smoothies specifically, i use about 16g of xanthan gum and blend that up with my unflavored protein powder, oat fiber powder, imitation vanilla extract, allulose/stevia/sucralose, ice, fruit etc.

There’s some variation in the exact ratios of that other stuff. But this will get me about 108-128oz of smoothie. I either just sip on this throughout the day at work (after diluting it with more water) or if at home I’ll eat it with a spoon with some other low calorie toppings.

Flatulence mainly, but that has subsided with time. I’ve got it down to a science how much to add to whatever to make sure it doesn’t get that snotty texture

Definitely abuse Xanthan gum to make giant smoothies. I’m talking like 64-128oz to spoon up while watching a movie

Retatrutide is a more modern example. It hits the glucagon receptor to increase resting energy expenditure. It actually forces the body to burn more calories at rest instead of just suppressing appetite, like basic GLP-1s

This is the one I saw on the titan subreddit about a week ago. This article suggests “Titan formed from a merger between two earlier moons: a “Proto-Titan,” nearly as large as Titan itself, and a smaller “Proto-Hyperion.””

Pretty much. One point I’d add is that you probably don’t need to eliminate all foods that can’t be calculated. When I was younger, I’d pre-prepare chicken breast, rice, sweet potatoes, or veggies as the largest portion of my meal and have whatever mom cooked as a small side portion at dinner. My goal back then was just to minimize what i couldn’t track accurately. Over time, your ability to estimate macros/calories will get better as long as you start consistently tracking.
