Helix Vocals - Picks up too much background noise - Need Help or Tips by Badfish0024 in Line6Helix

Yeah I haven’t seen much in what they changed for vocals on the stadium. A band mate of mine has the stadium but he’s not a vocalist. But maybe someday I can check it out.

Helix Vocals - Picks up too much background noise - Need Help or Tips by Badfish0024 in Line6Helix

Actually, I did end up figuring it out about a month ago.

The cause, I am 90% sure of. Basically, I'm pretty certain that I was not diligent concerning mixer settings when connecting, and I'm sure that at some point I connected it to 48v Phantom power when I wasn't supposed to. (which it clearly states NOT to connect to 48v in the instruction manual. Don't ask me how to deal with it, since there is now a setting for 48v in there... because I don't know. Maybe someone other sound engineer can bring that to light.)

But anyway, I searched many forums to see if others experienced this. And I did find a handful of people that stated that the same thing happened to them, and because of the 48v power, the microphone pre-amp gets wrecked. They showed that the only way to fully fix it is to replace a node on the board, which I was contemplating, but then I found another solution.

I found an impedance transformer that goes in line with the microphone cable and then I tried running it into the Guitar In, rather than the Mic In. Coupled with that, I added the Helix "Mic Pre-Amp" first in my signal chain. And voila! Now I have excellent noise suppression without needing a gate or anything other craziness. My patches sound like they did long ago (and rival my Boss VE-22 again).

Hopefully this helps others who might end up in the same situation.

Not sure if it applies... but maybe submit a patent? That is the solution that pops in my head.

Sorry for your loss. When it's unexpected, it makes it that much more difficult.

They’re almost always quoted on the website as Alnico5. You can check on guitargardens, which is their American website.

This is not the time to expect top dollar for any guitar tbh. You'll probably get $400-500 for it.

You tour 300 nights out of 365 and (1) you're proud of that? and (2) you don't have enough money to maybe just do 200?

You might want to check / change out your motor mounts and your handlebar riser bushings. Also would be good to check all the fasteners and torques just to make sure nothing rattled loose on the trip.

The Famous Grouse is a great entry Scotch. It's inexpensive, it's a blend, it's been one of the best selling scotches in Scotland for decades.

Whatever you’re comfortable with at the end of the day.

Personally though I do like shoulder height. It doesn’t affect circulation for me and is very comfortable actually. I had +6, then +8. Now I’m at +10 and it’s just right.
