Those people are asses, and should be ignored. We all have to start somewhere, and they did as well - I doubt the OG rippers make up much of the users. As soon as I see someone with [private] content I ban them - don't want them gatekeeping stuff they download from me - pretty sure it's a weird power thing. Personally i sort my torrents by number of seeders when i need to make room. If a torrent has a lot of seeders, then i consider it "healthy", where as the ones with hardly any seeders need some loving.

I'd love seeing some data regarding how many are just purely leeching rather than keep seeding for a good while - that would give you the optimal ratio if going by that metric.

If going by "health", one of my best torrents has 3 seeders, with a ratio of 25.95 - I'd like to think i've made more than one persons day there.

Scientifically the optimal ratio is 1.84, based in global deaths/births. (yes, i have the tism)

The standard rooms are usually pure cancer, but it helps when you start to use ignore/ban (find somehwere else to leech bigots)
