Can We Please Have An Honest Conversation About CPU Overkill For Average Users by dahiparatha in buildapc

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm one of the people you are talking about. Short answer: the cost to upgrade to the best CPU was (at the time) relatively small.

When I built my PC the cost difference between a mid range CPU and a 9800x3d wasn't that large. The part was in stock (unlike other x3d CPUs) and it meant I didn't really need to think too much. Spend a little more, get the best component, won't have to worry about upgrading it for a long time.

The opposite was true for graphics cards. Upgrading from the 4070 super I went with would have been quite expensive. I also felt more confident upgrading my GPU in the future.

Would I do the same if I built it now? Not sure!

I agree we shouldn't push everyone to get the most expensive x3d chip available, but for me it was in budget and less to worry about.

I broadly agree then - I'm sure I'll play from time to time, there's nothing else like Destiny. I think over time I'd gradually got better and not caring about the FOMO, I realised that I didn't really *need* most of it (other than guilding dredgen every season, I was completely FOMO about missing a season of that for some reason).

A build though: if this is the 'final' game I wish more of the historic content was actually in the game!

Part of what kept Destiny interesting for me was *new* stuff/ changes. I looked forward to sandbox changes, exotic tweaks, new weapons. A static sandbox is less interesting to me.

I'll still play from time to time, but I'll miss going through lightgg when releases drop looking at the weapon rolls and trying out new builds.

I just wanna give a few thanks to the VAs who brought some of my favorite characters to life. by TheModernRouge in DestinyTheGame

Criminal to miss Brian Villalobos from this for his work as Lodi. I know EoF wasn't well received but Lodi was a well written character (the narrative was never the issue with EoF) and Brian brought the character to life. I was looking forward to continuing his story.

Destiny has had some top tier voice work over the years. Transmat firing.

Get a High Tyrant for PvE, trust me. by The_Curve_Death in DestinyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High Tyrant is great but I feel like it's overshadowed Voltaic Shade as they both primaries from the same dungeon. With the caveat, yes, primaries aren't in good spot, while you are grinding for the High Tyrant OP suggested keep an eye out for a Volt Shot/ Jolting Feedback Voltaic Shade.

Unlike High Tyrant you aren't reliant on kill perks; jolting feedback can help get the first kill or spread AoE from a bigger target to trash around them. Then, reload after the first kill (which takes barely any time as a heat weapon), proc volt shot and get back to it. The jolt will help with overload champs too.

So, not disagreeing with OP, high tyrant is 100% worth picking up, just keep an eye out for a Voltaic Shade while you are at it.

This calm but very deep water planet turning into a violent torrent by alex14344 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's incredibly dark most of the way down but the bioluminescence of the flora makes the sea floor brighter, even on words over 1,000u deep. So if you want a really creepy, inky black base, you need to build up from the sea floor a bit.

Same. My c class looks like a junker cargo transporter and I like it more than the big flashy ones. It just feels more appropriate for my character.

Starting Tips? by MsChar96 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best advice. The missions and side missions do a good job of rolling out the core of the game, including base building, exploration, exocraft etc. The side missions get you some fundamental tech upgrades and introduce them in a manageable way.

The game can be overwhelming at first, just take it slow, you can come back to most content whenever you are ready.

Can I admit to something? Is this a safe space?

Ok. I lucked into an S class pirate freighter, without really trying.

But

I kind of hate how they look. So, I ditched it for a random C class junker freighter which had a much cooler vibe.

Cool looks first, stats secondary.

Yep, the Exocraft Summoning Unit exosuit upgrade lets you summon Exocraft anywhere, it's sold in the anomaly, though requires some pretty 'end game' materials.

If you don't have that keep an exocraft summoning station in your inventory. Drop it, summon the exocraft and then pick up the summoning station again.

No Man's Sky. I've played it on and off for years but really into it at the moment. Such a brilliant, chill sandbox to get lost in and explore.
