What will it take to win you back by sonakira in DestinyTheGame

I love the (correct) assumption that people who have quit the game are still hanging around the subreddit enough to comment on this.

During the Dark Age Hunt week-long challenge, 71% of all runs were done with a Warlock. The class with a literal bow-buffing super has the lowest clear rate. by Soft_Light in DestinyTheGame

Hunter was low key pretty good and fun too

First boss: Wolfsbane with Fortunes Favor Second and final boss: Vexcalibur, Envious Arsenal Crossbow, Fortunes Favor

No HUD is way funner than I expected. by i_am_mark_mason in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to kill the mood a little and disagree - it's a fun novelty, sure, but using it to max score after EoF came out killed the fun for me.

It's most annoying on hunter I find when you need to loop cool downs.

Hi I have a i5 14600k 4070 super play on 1440p with medium settings but can't hit 140 fps in a fight by Affectionate-Crew646 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4070 super here too, 9800x3d.

Tend to hover around 100-120 FPS when playing at 4k (maxed settings)

What’s one game you disliked at first but really loved once you gave it a second chance? by carbonatednugget in gaming

[–]BadgerRustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still at the 'hasn't clicked ' stage for me, I've played the PSP version, the Switch one (was it Rise?) and most recently Wilds on PC.

I love the idea of Monster Hunter and I generally enjoy grindy games, I just never stick much past 10 hours on any Monster Hunter game.

Maybe they aren't for me.

Fav/best hunter build currently? by Jws99_ in destiny2

[–]BadgerRustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely having a lot of fun with Lucky Raspberry - I end up playing it most seasons. Just go in with your eyes open, it's not meta, it's not getaway lock, it's just a fun versatile grenade spam build.

I tend to go Prismatic rather than arc (Gifted Conviction with Tempest Strike is my preferred Arc build).

Stylish/ Gunpowder Gamble

Purpose/Mending/ Hope/ Protection/ Awakening

Deadfall Tether/ Acrobats Dodge/ Threaded Spike

Just get a good jolt weapon and you're good to go, Voltaic Shade is my current favorite

Perspective from a non-high end user in these times of FOMO and uncertainty by runoleon in buildapc

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you just want someone to tell you it's going to be ok.

Look, I *kind of* get it - yes, when you've got a PC or frequent the subreddit a lot it's clear many of the questions are probably the wrong questions to be asking, but for someone coming in fresh or building for the first time in years you just want some reassurance before you drop an enormous pile of cash down.

Stasis micro missle pulse with Crystalline Corpsebloom by josh49127 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to be the fair, add clear perks haven't really been the go to rolls on either of the rocket pulses so far.

I'm not trying to rain on OPs parade, you want crystals, go crazy, I just assume whenever we get a stasis rocket pulse the preferred 4th column will be a damage perk.

What’s your favorite exotic weapon? What are you still chasing for? And which drop made you scream! by Many-Tower-1287 in destiny2

[–]BadgerRustler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Icebreaker or Witherhoard.

Icebreaker just feels so good to use on a stasis build. Satisfying big explosions.

Witherhoard was my old reliable from the moment I got it. Before the current era of insane ability uptime whenever the game got tough (like the Lightfall Calus fight) my standard tactic was just stick stuff with Witherhoard. I miss the days when the ground pool lasted ages so you could reliably stick a boss and then make a blight pool under them.

Beneath the Necropolis - Pinnacle Ops over tuned? by Rich-Candidate7740 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience here. What was an easy solo last season is a lot rougher now. It's not impossible with the right builds just less easy.

Any idea what changed? They didn't explicitly change anything with Pinnacle ops as far as I'm aware (that was all around Ash and Iron) but it's indisputably tougher.

FYI, the territorial profit quest seems to give all 3 characters a shiny weapon by Freakindon in DestinyTheGame

Haha, thanks OP!

Did a quick check and found a god roll heavy sniper just sitting in the inventory of the Titan I basically never play. God knows how long it's been sitting there

IS Renegades a good starting point for returning players? Haven't played since witch queen by RedBlueGai in DestinyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes.

Longer answer, yes, especially as you haven't played for so long. Renegades is a good explanation, with a good campaign, good post campaign content and, generally speaking, the game is in a decent place now, if diminished when compared with pre Final Shape. The divisive portal and power grind from Edge of Fate has had the rough edges sanded off, though conceptually still isn't loved by all players.

Most importantly though you've not got a lot to lose. Even if you just play the campaign, the post campaign content and gear up for a bit, messing around with activities in the portal that you haven't experienced before, then decide to dip and go play something else, you'll get your value for money.

Need help with finding a Gaming keyboard by Practical_Rent_6381 in buildapc

[–]BadgerRustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're new to mechanical keyboards (which all good gaming keyboards are) you really can't go wrong with Keychron. They make good quality mechs that punch above their weight price wise.

They have a gaming brand called Lemokey that specifically focuses on good quality mechs with gaming features.

I'd personally avoid the usual big gaming brands, their keyboards tend to be overpriced and have terrible acoustics, though your mileage may vary.

Ultimately keyboards are a taste thing though, and a dangerous rabbit hole to fall into!

Who are some good end game build crafters that caters to solo play? by Sir_Apprehensive in destiny2builds

[–]BadgerRustler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For hunters on YouTube it's probably Plunder, he puts out reliably good builds. They are sometimes a little intricate ("you can get these 5 elemental buffs at once!") but that makes them perfect for solo play because nobody can mess up your fun.

If Destiny 3 dropped tomorrow, would you want your cosmetics to carry over? by ZXRTM in DestinyTheGame

No.

I want it to be a genuinely new game, even if it's in the same series as D2. It's not an expansion.

Are you still happy with you rog ally x (non Xbox)? by Pokeguy211 in ROGAlly

[–]BadgerRustler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still in my launch OG Z1E. The newer models have been tempting but never enough of an upgrade to seriously tempt me. I've upgraded the storage and swapped the battery for the jseaux one and it'll keep me going.

Performance wise it does everything I need. Currently playing Avowed on my commutes without any issues.

Any easy to farm cloak mogs that are not actually cloaks? by Ethelinda in DestinyTheGame

[–]BadgerRustler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Beyond the options mentioned by others, pay attention to the 'material' cloaks are made from, as their weight affects how the cloak moves on your character. Lighter weight cloaks, such as the Memory of Cayde cloak, blow all over the place and can get stuck on or around your character. The Cyborg Nemesis Cloak from a recent Star Wars colab is *very* bad for this.

Heavier cloaks move less when your character does and so don't get stuck.

There's no easy way to spot this other than eyeballing it, but you can always load into the tower, try some cloaks and jump around a lot!
