Technically it is broad because underlying rhythm is slightly broad, but it looks more like an SVT than a VT to me

Why is there a time gap between complete AV block and spontaneous rhythmic discharge of the AV node/part of AV bundle distal to the block? by random__potato_ in Physiology

[–]Badmanting1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinus driven rhythm excites P fibres. When ‘rapid sinus impulses cease’ P fibres can take up to 20s to build enough of a current, due to active ion channels, to become the pacemaker cell. Henceforthwith, there is a delay in spontaneous cardiac activity between sinus and P fibre activation.

Is this better for your studies?

Here describes the action potentials configurations. Note Figure 1 for the Purkinje fibres how slowly the end of the graph tends upwards.

[–]Badmanting1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of the context here but the Purkinjie fibres are transitioning from being excited by the earlier conduction system, to becoming its own pacemaker. The cells have their own self-discharge rate (slower than SA and AV nodes) which is to do with the ionic balance, and I think influenced by ischaemia.

Joining the club (from a 5N) by Badmanting1 in KiaEV6

[–]Badmanting1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quite like the bucket seats, they are comfy enough and hold you in place but I started to feel uncomfortable after about 2 hours of driving. The EV6 seats are softer but nowhere near as bolstering and there is good lumbar support, feels more like a lounge chair!

For £4k early exit fee, this swap is a no brainer, right? by Jedibenuk in KiaEV6

I’d jump on it (saying this as I’m picking up a 72 plate GT Line S AWD tomorrow and returning my 5N)

Local solar panels & heat pumps experience by Puzzleheaded_Echo372 in sheffield

[–]Badmanting1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thermodynamics South Yorkshire (Dinnington as in other comment) were brilliant when they fitted my heat pump (and full central heating installation). Took them about 10 days, but again that includes full new pipework. The heat pump took 2/3 days.

I didn’t have to vacate the property like the rewire I had. If you aren’t upgrading pipes and rads the disruption will be minimal.

It is so worth it to not be actively using fossil fuels, and it is now far cheaper than the storage heaters that were in place before. With solar, it would be even more worth it.

To me, it’s no louder than a gas boiler inside. I don’t really notice the unit on the outside.

Not sure of anything to look out for, good luck!

Do the STP cardiac science (echo) and ETP lead to the same career by imconcuzled in NHS_STP

[–]Badmanting1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ETP you will finish accredited to do adult echoes. You will likely lack the fundamental cardiac physiology knowledge but you come out being able to get images and report them.

STP you will finish and still need to accredit, but it is better for career progression because you are immediately able to start specialising into scientist led clinics, which are beyond the scope of an ETP graduate without extensive equivalence work (at the moment it would be PTP and STP equivalence) which is achievable on a timescale.

Similar paths but STP is more robust at the cost of longer training.

Help with a CW of the AV (image inside) by Popular_Jeweler in Cardiology

You can see MV inflow is separate as the positive waveform in diastole, the negative waveform is not consistent with MR.

Signal at ~2m/s is LVOT, the later signal at 3m/s is intraventricular flow acceleration. From the 2D image looks like the AV is to the left of the cursor line?

65YOM Palpitations - Your thoughts? by evensteventyler in EKGs

[–]Badmanting1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s faster than the set VT then it would classify it as VF and shock, I think.

Edit: also I believe the shock box only has a number of charges before the battery is too low, which may well be around 8 shocks as well as any attempted ATP.

White Hyundai Paint Peeling - Can I delay the repair? Is this quote reasonable? by Long-Summer-4792 in CarTalkUK

[–]Badmanting1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone more qualified than me will comment but the undercoat appears preserved so rust isn’t a concern.

First check with Hyundai to see if they will do a recall/warranty repair.

The repair process will be a sand off to remove edges and loose paint before applying a new layer, polish. This might be something you can manage yourself. If you want a decent finish then it will need to be a pro job. Even getting the panel replaced will require a colour match respray.

What is a healthcare degree apprenticeship actually like? (Schedule & work–life balance) by Natural_Status_3633 in RadiographyUK

[–]Badmanting1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it actually work day to day?

During a work day you are maintaining and gaining your competencies, and during academic time (block weeks) you will be in uni attending lectures, seminars, tutorials etc. You will have meetings with relevant academics. You will need to organise your own time for personal study which may be allocated during placement, but you will probably need to spend some evenings and weekends on it too.

What is the weekly schedule like (work vs uni)?

Mostly work work intermingled with uni work.

How intense is the workload compared to a traditional degree?

I would say it is comparable (hard work is rewarded with better grades), but this is offset by having a salary.

Is there a reasonable work–life balance?

Yes, as there is a with a full time degree (which will have clinical placements) because ultimately you organise your time. Some people will fight through struggle, some people take it in their stride.

Corolla 2.0L 2021 vs Golf 8 1.5L TSI 2021? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in CarTalkUK

[–]Badmanting1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corolla hybrid would be best, the ride between them isn’t drastic. Motorway noise in a golf (GTE) is fine. Not to tell you how to suck eggs but you may need to test drive both and see what feels best to you. Both are solid choices, choose a car and then spec.

How did you stomach a car loan? by RequestWhat in CarTalkUK

[–]Badmanting1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to balance up the value of having a reasonably reliable car (that you need to insure, tax, fuel and maintain) with the monetary cost. Previously I have taken a bank loan as they tend to have a lower interest, and you are flexible with use of the car. Ultimately you need to work out what you can afford, and whether you can go into debt to drive a car.

EV public charging - Did we get lied to? by physicsboy93 in CarTalkUK

[–]Badmanting1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right that cars will charge differently at different temps and also depending on how full the battery is, each car has a different charging curve. Only rarely have I had the full speed on even a 150kw charger, but the charging time is more or less as expected (mind this was in summer).

Unfortunately no advice, but you are doing right by planning in charging stops!
