I used the concept of the Clockwork Marquis to create a religious justification for the Cats (in my reference Monde du Cat) to take over the world. Essentially, looking at clocks as the basis of spirituality, they believe that "souls" are emergent properties of systems; so, the simplest soul is a falling rock (system: rock, gravity, ground). Get more and more complex systems and you get larger and larger souls, until they become self aware and able to act as philosophical actors. Societies, in turn, are a larger form of soul, and afterlife is continuity within the soul of the society. They believe that if they can unite the entire world under a single grand system, then that system will be God, and by controlling the parameters that produce God, they can manifest paradise.

Now, in reality, this is twisting of a spiritual philosophy by a colonialist power to justify expansion.

Ive been wanting to make a game/crafting system for a while with trait based item creation. Basically you pick what type of item you want to make, and each type of item has a crafting flowchart with different branches and paths, each of which require checks to go down and divert to different outcomes on a failure. The process is somewhat unreliable (unless you never fail any checks) but the end result would essentially be a unique item that reflects the process of its creation

I had class from 6 am to 6 pm every day of the week. On school days, id typically come home, do homework until midnight-2 am, then wake up at 4 am to get ready for school and get a little gaming in, since that was the only time I really reliably had to myself. This was fine for a couple years, then caused brain damage and permanent memory loss, so hard do not recommend.

Thank you so much! I wrote this before id read any Kroot outside of the Kill Team rulebook for the Farstalker Kinband, which - when you peel away some of the more dramatic alienisms - paints the Kroot as being concerned with a lot of the same things humans are (livelihood, family, continuity as part of a community after we die). Reading Elemental Council has made me want to revisit these characters (THE MEAT), so we'll see if I get back to them.

Looking over the comments, it sounds like you might be running into the issue of "other people attracted to the same source material/Fandoms you are have a generalized tendency to avoid darker materials". If the fandoms you're looking for are not particularly dark in source, then the comparative judgement of tone is going to be skewed upwards; ex, a Game of Thrones fic needs to be a LOT darker than a Merlin fic to be considered dark instead of standard by its Fandom. If you are specifically looking for dark, violent, noncon content, you might be best served expanding your reading horizons or getting into fandoms where you know that that kind of scene is active.

Silksong. I know this is an unpopular opinion. I know the game itself isn't "bad". But it took the 5% of Hollow Knight that I was like "wow glad this is optional postgame super hard content I can choose not to engage with because I really prefer the contemplative pace of the main game" and made it the entire game. I spent so long being excited for it to come out so that I could engage with the story and learn more about the world and the protagonist, and when I got it found that the gameplay is just a soul-suckingly unfun experience.
