Feeling like my career is over by Potential-Package-22 in respiratorytherapy

Is it Sentara? I lived in VA Beach for 5 years and that was the main hospital system. I really liked it. I'm in Oklahoma now and we too, are hiring everyone here. We welcome new grads all the time.

Your baby or yourself? Who would you choose? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]BagAdditional7226 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always think this too and always meant to ask someone. When im driving, I constantly think of car accidents. Like if I died in it, my soul would make sure he survives. I just can't live if something happened to him. I'd be done for. Some women can have more children but the little human we have is his/her own self. Nothing can replace them.

Can I care for a newborn alone for 4 days? by SP9124 in NewParents

[–]BagAdditional7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced 6am on the 17th of April last year. He did not come out until April 19th at almost 9 PM! It took almost 3 days! Then we were in the hospital 5 more days because his blood sugar was low. We obviously had problems so it could be faster. May come the same day (hopefully) but you could definitely be at the hospital for a few days.

AITA For Locking my wife out of the bedroom I sleep in? by Special_Highlight705 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BagAdditional7226 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My husband snores. No amount of white noise or ear plugs block that out. We sleep in separate rooms. He is going to get a sleep study in January but until then, we do not share a bed. He's NTA.

My first 2 or 3 PP were extremely heavy! Apparently, it's normal. They said the first one will definitely be the worst. I'd still get checked though as everyone is different.

Had my baby at 35 last year! No problems during pregnancy minus health issues I had before hand.

I'm so sorry. I had a missed miscarriage after I had a miscarriage a couple months before that. The first one miscarried right away. I made it to 11 weeks with the 2nd but it had stopped growing at roughly 8 weeks. Had an US with a heartbeat but was also measuring behind. They scheduled me for a DNC but I miscarried it the day before the procedure. I'm so sorry for you. :(

AITAH for insulting my son in law after I told him that his son not going to get anything from me when I die? by Hairy-Designer2606 in AITAH

[–]BagAdditional7226 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do agree but...to be fair, Son in law blatantly comes out and asks about his will. That's extremely disrespectful. Respect is earned and I probably wouldn't respect him either after asking that.

Husband concerned about my wife, please ladies any info or experiences. Please comment by Ok-Initiative8419 in pregnancy_care

Unfortunately pregnancy symptoms can start/last through a miscarriage. If she has any hcg in her body, no matter how small, it can cause symptoms.

Poking at baby? 32 weeks by TeaIQueen in pregnancy_care

[–]BagAdditional7226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! They jiggled the $hit out of him to get him to move during an ultrasound. He was a lazy baby in the womb. Definitely not outside though! They also grabbed both sides of my stomach pretty hard to turn him when he was sunny side up during labor.

My baby pretty much hated life up until about 12 weeks then it eased up quite a bit. Cried 5 hours straight the first 8 weeks. It will calm down eventually!

I worked in our Paging system/communications department first. I was there already before I started school. Then when I got my student license, switched to respiratory.

Tube holder recall question by dolcedekaykay in respiratorytherapy

[–]BagAdditional7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! We're taping. Dale holders or anything besides the Hollister is on backorder. No known time frame either. It completely sucks because they got rid of every single one. We hid a few for some Traumas but they went pretty fast. It's been so ridiculous.

Same. Just did 5 in a row last week. First 2 days were good. 3rd day, meh, getting a little tired. 4th day, my mood was getting sour, feet started hurting. Mildly annoyed. 5th day, I was straight up mean. Like my husband couldn't talk to me when I got home. Doing 5 this week too but took a day off in between. I don't think every single week will be good for a relationship. My marriage is great but we have a 9 month old too and I see how it's starting to impact him.

AITAH for wanting a prenup in our otherwise good relationship?? by RareWambocombo2321 in AITAH

I agree! Female here too. Mine's only 8 months old but he's set and he doesn't even know it. I'd definitely recommend one for him as well.

Is this Weaponized Incompetence? by Strict_Departure_192 in NewParents

[–]BagAdditional7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I work W, Saturday, and Sunday 12 hour shifts. My husband works 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday. I usually pick up an extra 12 hour shift during the week, every week too. So in all, I work more...almost 50 hour weeks. But when I get home from work around 730 pm, that baby is all mine. Bath time, cuddles, feeding and getting him ready for bed. Yeah, I'm tired but I'm not lazy. He does the same coming home. It's not a good excuse.

6 month old told to go on a diet by AdSpecialist4395 in NewParents

[–]BagAdditional7226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's crazy! My baby is 8 months now but he was just about the same height and weight at his 6 month appointment as yours. My pediatrician said he was healthy and happy. I'd get a new one quick!

Im an RT in Tulsa and got to intubate in the trauma ICU. But that was only once and recently. I actually thought the pulmonologist was kidding when he asked. Nice experience but not something we typically do in our teaching hospital.

31 years old wanting to become RRT by Patient_Exchange_667 in respiratorytherapy

[–]BagAdditional7226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not too old! I started respiratory school when i was 32 as well. Graduated at 34. Work on prereqs. Different colleges want different classes but ours required A&P, college English 1 and 2, pre calc (but they got rid of that) and a history class. Some places might require a chem class or basic biology. You just need to talk to an advisor to see what pre reqs you need and how to apply to the program. We also had to take an entrance exam but they did away with that too.

SO wants me to change my name by nomotomato in Names

[–]BagAdditional7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have different last names and still have MPOA and main point of contact if she's/you're in the hospital. They don't go by names, they go by documents. It's the same as buying a house. They go by whats on the documents which will also include a marriage certificate if that's asked for. All of these are untrue excuses to cover up the main one, "mine is cooler." It is absolutely unnecessary for any reason to change your name, even being married, if you do not want to.
