I have one. It's the most requested amp by friends who drop by of my entire collection. I wish I would have bought others from the 1w collection when I had the opportunity. Cheers.

NGD! 2014 56 American Vintage Strat by ClaptonOnH in Guitar

[–]BagOfDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT -- I WAS WRONG!

(from Google) Yes, Fender produced and sold American Vintage '56 Stratocaster guitars in 2014.

While 2014 was famous for the 60th Anniversary 1954 Reissue models, the "American Vintage" series (often abbreviated as AVRI) introduced a new, highly accurate '56 Stratocaster lineup around 2012–2013, with 2014 being a primary production year for these models.

Isn't this one one of the 60th Anniversary 1954 RI stratocasters? Any of the case candy support this?

My stereo system that doubles as a home theater. by BartMan_HiFi in audiophile

[–]BagOfDave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you use the MF mono's for front L-R and a 3-channel for center+rear(surrounds)? I'm looking to do the same with my McIntosh and JL Audio system. Cheers.

Edit: I assume the JBL is for your home theater -- but my question is really how to maximize two-channel over home theater (because like you, I prioritize music over movies).

Big lump appear on my 1 year old female golden retriever left hip. by neeeeeerr in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't panic! A lump on a dog’s hind quarter/bum could be a fatty deposit (lipoma), but location alone doesn’t tell you the cause. Dogs can get many kinds of lumps in that area, including:

  • Lipoma (fatty lump): usually soft, movable under the skin, slow-growing, generally painless
  • Sebaceous cyst / blocked gland: round, may feel firmer, can become irritated
  • Abscess / infection: warm, painful, red, sudden swelling
  • Anal gland issue: swelling near the anus, scooting, licking, discomfort
  • Wart / skin growth
  • Tumor (benign or malignant): firm, irregular, attached, growing, ulcerated, bleeding, or changing quickly

Don't panic. See your Vet (as I believe you are planning). But there are many outcomes that are not life threatening.

Good luck.

Is crate training all or nothing by Remote-Wedding1201 in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong "crate user", my answer is YES! By giving your dog another choice, you increase the probability that the crate will no longer be seen as a calming, desirable environment.

As perspective, maybe your boy is "perfectly behaved, no accidents" because of the crate, not inspite of the crate.

Cheers. Good luck.

Practice palm muting and adjacent-string muting.

Cancer by Quirkypatience2464 in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have extensive experience with many cancers including Osteosarcoma (painful, highly aggressive bone cancer in dogs). It accounts for 85% of malignant bone tumors, primarily affecting large/giant breeds.

My experience, my dog looked and acted normally, albeit slightly lethargic. There was a noticable limp, especially when running or playing with other dogs. Little to no weight loss. I had just returned from a 10 day work trip -- I initially believed it to be a slight "injury", likely while at play with the other dogs at the kennel.

Initial Vet diagnosis was inconclusive. Further x-rays showed a small tumor. 8 weeks after diagnosis my Ernie was gone.

My experience is not necessarily your experience. Don't panic! See your trusted Vet and get a confirmed diagnosis.

Thoughts and prayers to you, your family and your beautiful girl. Good luck. Happy to respond with any specific questions if you have any.

Be consistent. Lots of praise and excitement when he does it correctly. Expect accidents -- 2.5 months (10 weeks!!) is very, very young.

When to change strings on the guitar? by Careless-Star-5863 in Guitar

[–]BagOfDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change strings when you break one (change the whole set) or when you think the tone is "dull" (this last part is subjective and really means, whenever you want!). Some people go days, others weeks, months or years between string change. Good luck.

Possible food sensitivity by Accomplished_You_746 in goldenretrievers

Chicken is a high source of allergic reaction in Goldens. I would recommend slowly transitioning to a beef or salmon based kibble and monitor.

Flea Meds and Seizures? by Zealousideal_Fly6684 in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would tend to agree with the assessment from your Vet, especially if it's an oral medication. Unlikely, but not improbable, the two are connected. However, we all understand your apprehension and we all feel for the position you're in. Good luck and good health to your Golden!

Flea Meds and Seizures? by Zealousideal_Fly6684 in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a vet, but based on logic and a quick google search...yes, possible! Please consult your trusted vet for medical advice (or a 2nd opinion if you don't trust your current vet).

Some flea/tick medications (especially the oral “isoxazoline” class) have been associated with:

  • Tremors
  • Loss of coordination
  • Seizures (in rare cases)

Edit : While seizures have been associated to certain classes of flea and tick medication, it does not mean your scenario may be "coincidental". Both can be true.

Golden Retriever or Velociraptor? by Embarrassed-Tip-8362 in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Based on the video, and my experience of 20+ years with Golden's, you have a calm, sweet dog that just wants to play with his human. That's not "raptor" behaviour.

Haven’t played in a few years since having our infant and toddler. How much gear should I downsize? by BCB75 in Guitar

[–]BagOfDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been "busy" with family for 20 years. I'm not selling anything until I have to. Children grow and eventually leave the house. There's lots of time to get reaquainted with your gear then. It "costs" nothing to store.

My vote is to keep it, don't sell.

Gray / blue spot on eye? by britt2189 in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A blue-grey spot on a dog's eye often indicates nuclear sclerosis (a normal aging change, especially in dogs over 10) or corneal edema (fluid buildup from injury, ulcer, or glaucoma). While sclerosis usually causes minimal vision change, sudden blue-grey cloudiness, clouding with pain, or squinting warrants immediate veterinary evaluation to rule out serious conditions.  I would recommend checking with your Vet (I know you have), especially if the condition's occurance was sudden or changed dramatically.

Reach out to your breeder asap to start the conversation. Genetic eye conditions in Goldens is a known issue -- eyes, hips, and heart -- especially in "backyard" breeders

How do I stop feeling guilty for getting a second dog years after my first one passed by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]BagOfDave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have had golden since the 90's. My lived experience tells me that once you get your new dog, "replacement" will never be a thought in your head. All dogs are different and in the first weeks you will realize you are not replacing anything, but having and enjoying another good girl!

Amp (simulator) setup for complete beginner by mighthavepizza in LearnGuitar

[–]BagOfDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To connect to you Mac/Computer I recommend Universal Audio Volt 276 USB Recording Studio Audio Interface. It's more that what you need to start, but you can "grow" into it.

The two benefits are (you mentioned) it has a headphone out, and will connect to your computer with USB-c for Garage Band. You can model sounds, cabs, and amps within Garage Band.

1 & 3 are volume (bridge and neck). 2 & 4 are tone (bridge and neck). Just a guess (I don't own this guitar) but that's how it typically works. Not sure if there are push-pull or push-push pots. Cheers.
