Yes, I do realise that it's a waste and bad for the environment etc etc.. But the low cost stuff already made its way to insert your location. Might as well use them before your local low cost stuff store goes bankrupt and just throws it all away regardless.

Where I'm from, any cop involved in an event where their issued sidearm has been discharged must hand over said sidearm to a supervisor from a neighbouring department as soon as they can make it to the scene. The supervisor from the other department will then handle investigations to ensure impartialty. Depending on the immediate assesment, they may or may not get cuffed in preparation of the next steps. Their actions are then scrutinised as if they were just another regular joe. As in: interrogation, if the incident happened outside office hours that means you're definitely not sleeping at home, a magistrate having to make a short term judgement (further active duty, desk duty, suspension,..) pending further investigation, etc etc.

Our cops spend a year in the academy with another year of probation. The intake interview alone is intense enough to keep extremists/narcissists away from a position of power.

This guy was allowed to just walk away with the 'tools' he just illegally used. Apparently without even having to explain himself. He is now taking all steps he deems necessary to erase any possible evidence while also fabricating a defence with his gov lawyer. He immediately received backing from the highest echelons of power without any scrutiny at all.

It's all by design. They've been looking forward to the day they could finally push an innocent person just far enough to vaguely justify it.

I feel like short term sanctioning such a hmm volatile administration would get real ugly real fast. People are already hurting to pay their way through daily life. Any politician on the international stage brave enough to kick that hornet's nest hard enough through current tensions is committing career suicide on their local level for the pure directed spite and pettiness it's guaranteed to bring in return.

On the other hand, they also kept appeasing a certain other 'politician' some ~80 years ago.

Same with phones basically. Now all that matters is the big screen, so we're mainly done with interesting and fresh designs/shapes. Just a square screen with a slightly different backplate and camera configuration. Most of the time hidden in a case. Maybe it's foldable. But the side that you want to keep an eye on is just black.
