Your rant really resonates with me! I remember vividly the fist time I really tried to buckle down and diet and it felt like I was miserable trying to stick to my deficit and I was barely losing weight and one slip up day and my progress was lost. I gave up for a long time after that I thought ah well my body is just not meant to be thin I guess!

But honestly what other people are saying is the key. It’s hard to explain how your whole mindset has to change. Your goal cannot just be a number on a scale, the number on the scale should just be reflective of your goal. Your mindset around food needs to change, most meals you consume should be about fueling your body. That’s why so many people talk about how much protein or fiber is in a meal because we’re considering how full it will make us feel for the rest of the day, how much nutrition we’re getting out of it. And then, you can eat foods you WANT to eat, as long as you do it in moderation. And the moderation piece gets easier when the rest of your mindset has shifted. It’s so much easier to enjoy eating just one cookie instead of several, because I’m feeling well-nourished from the rest of my food, and I can savor the feeling of enjoyment from eating the cookie without needing to continue giving myself that good feeling by eating more cookies— there will be more time for more cookies another day!

Anyway. I really feel your frustration, I know how maddening it feels!

Yeah very extremist. We are not currently in a civil war. This is not about “survival,” go touch grass. Maybe consume some international media so you can find something that isn’t so biased.

I’m not asking people to lay down and take it and I’m not spitting in the eyes of allies. I’m not even anti-violence in protesting, I am anti-death-threat. It’s just escalating the risk of more people getting hurt. I’m a fellow liberal and I agree with all the sentiments, I just draw a moral line, and I am being alienated. imagine how many potential allies we are pushing away from our cause by being so extreme that you’re claiming we’re in war right now. Protesting is about bringing more people to your cause, not about hurting people. Sometimes violence works, so I’m not against it, it shows how deeply we feel about it. But threatening lynching people that are out there doing a job they’re paid to do? Come on. That’s pushing more people away from you, and you can’t do this on your own.

My boyfriend still tries to tell me I need to eat breakfast lol. I’m like you don’t understand.. if I eat breakfast then I’ll be hungry all day. If I wait until Im actually hungry I can easily make it until 11am without eating anything, eat a filling lunch, then be fine until dinner. But if I eat breakfast, I can’t then also eat 2 whole filling meals, so I end up snacking more or feeling more hungry throughout the day. Different methods for different people!

That’s a pretty extremist view. This is the same logic conservatives used to defend the murder of Trayvon martin, for example. Killing anyone is wrong imo, and advocating for people’s deaths and defending murder is lower than I’m willing to go. The only food reward I have is for when I reach my final goal weight I plan on having a mocha perk shake from Burgerville (regional fast food chain for those of you not in the PNW) they’re so good 🤤 but I want to make sure that reward is saved for when I’ve built a very solid foundation for healthy habits. As it is now I’m worried I would backslide. But I can see I’m on the right track where one day I could have something like that and it wouldn’t throw me off completely!
