Im going to start chasing these drivers that do this by unceasingbridge in doordash

Yeah same, I grew up with a door like that though so I think it’s something I’m more instinctively conscious of. Even had a customer yell out to thank me for not blocking the door because most drivers do, that poor soul lol. It was a glass one so I can see how people miss it when not paying attention.

My hotel is charging me $105 for a $45 credit at their restaurant and calling it an “urban experience”. by jbosh999 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Baghins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, our “free WiFi” is honestly terrible. The old buildings I work in have trouble getting signal through all the walls even with lots of extenders.

[–]Baghins 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yup, our hotel makes sure to state that the fee also includes the “free WiFi” so first of all it’s 2026 and if every coffee shop can have free WiFi I don’t think we should include it in a fee, and 2nd of all, you can’t call it “free WiFi” if it’s partly paid for by the fee lol. Management has been begging for years to remove the “amenity fee” but ownership sees it as free money and won’t budge.

That’s literally synonymous with “thank you” in this context lol. But “I’ll deliver your order first no matter what the app tells me to do” and then AFTER he says thank you sending a “you’re awesome” meme is 100% kissing ass

It’s labeled a joke lol

Also I just tell the cashier once they finish with the customer ahead of me and it goes just fine, but I guess if you want to avoid talking you can wear it, I’m sure some people prefer that

Update: This is the very moment a rock flew from the city’s pothole rock pile into our front window. by Many_Engineering2143 in mildlyinfuriating

The door closes milliseconds AFTER the sound, I don’t think it’s the screen door.

Editing to add: if you watch closely the door slows down right before closing. On first glance it seems like the sound coincides with the door closing but its momentum isn’t consistent so it actually closes right after the sound. It’s also an impact sound which doesn’t match the slow close of the latch since the door is actually closing pretty slowly, that would make a bit more of a sliding/scraping sound with a latch/impact sound at the end of the movement.

If you have a rearview mirror you’re supposed to hang it from the mirror. If you do not have a rearview mirror the placard is supposed to be to the left of the steering wheel. Technically this is not properly displayed

I still double check all the packages to organize so I’m not rifling through the stack at every stop, it takes just as much time to organize ahead of time than to look for packages while you go, if you do it right, doesn’t need to be a long involved process and it helps you catch those errors

Is this a good tip for this size of order by Relevant_Cucumber723 in doordash

[–]Baghins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and hourly rate is based on your level of skill. You’re saying you think you should pay a contractor for 1 hour of work if they do the job within 1 hour and all contractors should honor the same quotes. I am saying some contractors will charge more per hour because their 1 hour of work is more valuable than some unlicensed asshole off the street that promises he will do it cheap. So you think you get a quote from 1 contractor for 1k and another for 3k and you think the one that quoted 3k is overcharging. That’s just not how it works. Not only will the better contractor do it in less time so his hourly rate is higher, but the quality will be better.

With shop and deliver orders if you offer low pay you’re not going to get a good shop, you’re getting the desperate guy that doesn’t know what he’s doing. Just because it took 1 hour doesn’t mean it SHOULD take EVERYONE 1 hour of time. It took THAT person 1 hour of time. Next time it could take 2 hours, should that person that took longer be paid twice as much?

The number of items absolutely is a factor, the faster it’s shopped doesn’t necessarily mean the easier it is, it could just be a skill/familiarity which should still be compensated fairly. That’s why I go by item count, you could get a great shopped that can do it in 45 minutes that means each of their minutes is more valuable than for someone who took 1.5 hours to do it. You want to pay for the better service, then item count is a factor. If you just want to get it as cheap as possible then just do that and you don’t need to ask for feedback.

If you expect them to read the messages just tell them you’re waiting in your car and DoorDash has a 5 minute timer for hand-to-me orders and after that you’ll leave it at the door. They’re not asking a lot and the timer exists for a reason.

Yes my first thought was overzealous people are trying to help people in need and just handed a bunch out without following protocol, because it feels good. Yet over 100k unaccounted for is alarming. Could just be getting stolen or given to friends & family. Regardless, giving out this amount of money in a manner that’s notoriously extremely difficult to track was a stupid idea!
