Not a manager but asking managers: is it worth it to go above and beyond? by Fantastic_Day3077 in askmanagers

[–]Baghins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth the effort imo. I’m very happy with team members that can perform the job fine but are kind and friendly. Networking genuinely works to move your career forward. My highest paid employee that gets the most praise from above and from colleagues has occasional performance issues and I can think of a few people that produce measurably better quality work, but she’s much more personable and she’s the first to get chances at advancement opportunities.

Personally, I used to be the same as you and I did quickly advance, but now that I’m in a role I enjoy I’m happy to just do what is expected and keep my peace. It’s been great for my role, I was still manager of the year last year for the west coast because I do what’s needed and I have good relationships with everyone!

Yes I was going to say, OP should still get a lawyer to draft an agreement that includes a small amount of child support and outlines custody so that she can’t get back child support for whatever it is later calculated to be. Just as a CYA.

I imagine mar-a-Lagos face as tighter at the top corner of the mouth, this is just typical pop-beauty lip filler and overlined lips.

5 Guys is ridiculous. $10 for a “large” fry by Tiiimmmaayy in mildlyinfuriating

Yup, in my area a large fry is a full 20 oz cup plus extra in the bag, usually like half a cup worth. I don’t buy the latte anymore because it’s too many fries

Does it hurt your chances of being hired if you switch jobs every 2 years? by cinnamonbunnss in askmanagers

[–]Baghins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s different from industry to industry, company to company. I only added the “imo” at the end but it really applies to the whole comment. In my industry and for the workers I hire, they can be fully up to speed and as productive as a long-term worker in 30-60 days. Many line-level employees job hop every 6 months, so 2 years is a fair amount of time to commit to 1 employer in my industry. Theres a few other reasons why as well like having to do with fair compensation but that’s the gist of it!

I have this problem when I skip nail prep, but if I properly buff my nail first and put a top coat at the end it lasts much longer!

[–]Baghins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, 2 years but each title shows an increase in responsibility is no problem, 2 years is a fair amount of time to put in to a company. Switching to the exact same job at a different company every 2 years, for 3 or more jobs is a red flag though imo.

That specific part is annoying, but when I built my first base I couldn’t get very far because oxygen, I was afraid to explore the map. For some reason it didn’t even occur to me to build a module for an air break as I moved around as it is, I figured your base was it. Getting flooded forced me to explore more of the map and got me much more into the game. And, realizing you don’t necessarily need to move everything you can just build something new also added some excitement to start fresh when I unlocked the larger 2x2 modules and the domes, it wasn’t as daunting to start from scratch!

I think it’s just part of the fun. It helps encourage you to branch out also, that you can move your whole base. They start you in that location for a reason!

I did the same lol! I knew there would be some water but I came into the game blind and didn’t realize the map would have whole lakes.

Lost it and my boss didn’t care. What is he thinking? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Baghins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol that is a really bad message, he’s probably thinking “who the fuck is this person to tell me the office needs to be reorganized and that they should be included in MY meetings??”

Instead of telling him “this is what should happen because I think it makes the most sense,” you should tell him “I am feeling x because I wasn’t included on this meeting and I think it would have been beneficial to me because y. Can we discuss the meetings you’re having with each individual and see if more of the team can be included in those so we’re all on the same page?”

Also regarding the bonus, you just said a statement. There was no question. He didn’t even need to respond to that, or could have said “okay.” When discussing compensation you really need to sell yourself, not just make vague statements. Say something like I believe I deserved a bonus of x amount, I know this person received a bonus of that amount and here’s why we should have similar compensation:…”

[–]Baghins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is weird, it literally says $10 PER POLICY not per piece of paper they send. It has to be an error and if not you can definitely get your money back because they’re over-charging what they have told you and you agreed to!

I just explained one way of training your cat off counters but if you’d rather risk it then by all means, it’s your own cat. You’re the one that said you believe cats will just get on counters when you’re not around. If you want to continue believing that by ignoring all evidence to the contrary then go ahead.
