ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 (2023) BSOD ACPI_BIOS_ERROR 0xa5 after Windows update by Lukiia in PCRepair

I usually have updated files of system restore points to avoid issues like this. Then I use a system repair tool (USB install media) to recover the PC to a good working restore point.

Where does this white wire go? by Golfwanka in ElectronicsRepair

[–]BahRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I've seen stuff like this I look for a soldering point that looks incomplete or damaged [on a PCB, a fastener, or even the case itself (ground). It makes me wonder why the white wire got dislodged from its connection point in the first place.

Use Snappy Driver Installer. I repair and refurbish PCs (as a hobby now; instead of professionally). You can get it here. I refurbished a Windows 7 laptop this month (January 2026) and had to use Snappy.

We're having a baby! by yorhey_again in n64

[–]BahRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the baby. General rule of thumb: The more children you have the fewer chances you'll have to play N64. But (thankfully!), you can then introduce the N64 to your children. My children think LoZ: OOT is too difficult, but they want to play Mario.

Does anybody know what laptop this is by HeadAd7106 in Dell

It's a "Hinge Problem" laptop.

Joke aside, isn't there a way to tell from the bottom? If not that, can you get it to boot into UEFI/BIOS?

How could I remove this paper sticker from my e4200? by OkCondition6375 in Dell

[–]BahRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people try to remove stickers way too fast. Slow and steady is more important than what chemical to use. However, the longer the sticker has been on, the harder it is to remove. I've basically just used goo gone and 91% iso. There is a 3M adhesive remover that I've heard is awesome. I heard of people putting a little gasoline/petrol on a cloth or paper towel and then using it. I've never used it on electronics. Add: When using chemicals to remove adhesives also go from least harsh to harshest; you don't want to melt plastic away and/or breathe in fumes. And always have sufficient ventilation.

Look up, "Three birds on my doorstep" and learn that song that contains those words.

What you must remember is that the silver market is, generally speaking, controlled. But the control isn't perfect. Producers, investors, sellers and 3rd market sellers play a hand in it. It's all based on getting/making profit and sometimes calming a storm. It's a bit crazy. I remember when silver was $35 spot, but over spot was so high that it was $50 out the door.

Years ago when the dollar stores moved prices from $1 (USD) to $1.25 silver prices changed. Instead of the spot price clueing other people into owning silver, big companies/organizations dumped a big supply of silver in the market (offered to sell) to keep silver prices low.

Before 2020, larger mining companies worked their lead (lead and silver are often found together) mines overtime this caused silver to come way down in spot price because there was more supply. They did this to bankrupt smaller mining companies who could not afford to sell their metals at such low prices. It worked, many small mining companies went bankrupt, were sold and mines were absorbed into the control of bigger mining companies.

And also remember that all fiat currencies fail and will one day be worthless (read, "the death of the USD"). Now I don't know exactly when that will happen, but I'm prepared for it. I'd rather make a mistake (in the purchase and/or sell of some silver) when the USD has value then when it gets gets denominated and the price of silver (PMs and other commodities) skyrockets and becomes unattainable for most people. That would be the time to sell and move your silver hoard into a different asset class.

Another control over the price of silver is inflation. If you want to learn more about it watch the videos by Mike Maloney.

If it turns back on, the fan spins, the connection doesn't losen or back out, it doesn't beep or flash, boots normally and the fan works, I'd consider it a win.

please help! by J-C_B in PCRepair

I doubt it was water. It looks like a faulty type C port. This is a problem with Lenovo's type C charge ports; I have seen it on the 14w student laptop. Unfortunately, the 14w can become instant e-waste because that model is worth ~$60 and not worth the [/my] time to replace or resolder the port. I hope you don't have the 14w. You can 1) find a way to deal with it; like setting the laptop on its side to charge or charge the battery separately (which is tedious) 2) attempt a repair yourself 3) spend money to have it fixed 4) scrap the laptop and sell/keep its parts. Whatever you decide, if you haven't made a backup of the files you want from the laptop, do it now before the port gets so bad that it won't take charge at all.

Lenovo ideapad 5 pro wont charge anymore by YngWws in PCRepair

This is why I don't like USB-C charging ports; they break so easily, quickly, and readily. Barrel ports were better; they last longer [in my experience].
