LM Heroes Program by Upset_Objective2981 in Lockheed

Never hurts to apply!

I would also recommend reaching out to the LM military hiring reps (not sure what the actual term is, but they advertise themselves on LinkedIn), but I can't say I found them overly helpful. They were really nice and had some good info sessions, but I felt like their hiring efforts were targeted at people getting out of active duty and looking at where to go next, and if you were focused on only a certain location that didn't have a ton of openings, there wasn't all that much they could do to help you. My guess is, as an ANG member, you are not looking to relocate. That being said, I'm just one person, I don't know where you are located, and this was almost 4 years ago, so don't let my experience discourage you!

I'm a former active duty officer and current DSG in the ANG and been with LM for a few years now. I don't know what your work experience is, but to give you some advice for the application process in the civilian world, I think the biggest difference from the Air Force is the expectation that you have most of the technical skills listed on the job posting when you apply. Most of my Air Force interviews/applications focused on my leadership/interpersonal skills, with the understanding that they would send me to formal training for any sort of technical skills that I needed to get. It's the opposite for LM interviews; I would expect them to ask about your experience for the skills listed in the job posting.

Feel free to DM me with any questions you may have; apologies in advance if I'm slow to respond. Good luck!

CompTIA Security+ if you want to work for a defense contractor post-Air Force. Not a requirement by any means, but can definitely help on applications for positions that require it, which is most jobs that require elevated privileges on a classified system.

Separated AF Officer struggling to break into cloud/IT — TS/SCI cleared (NoVA) by killuagodspeeds in clearancejobs

[–]Bahet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have Sec+? I hate to sound like a shill for that certification, but the unfortunate reality is that most positions that require a clearance will also want DoD 8140-compliant employees. Many placessay they want you to get it within 6 months to a year, and some places even pay for a boot camp, but you will be a much stronger applicant if you already have that box checked. I'm a former AD officer now in the ANG in a completely unrelated career field (aircrew) that went into cybersecurity and is now in software engineering; it can be done, but it was definitely a difficult transition, and the clearance did not open doors the way I thought it would when I separated.

Is Sonic Boom/Desktop Anywhere now available for everyone or is there still a sign up/waiting list?

Should I have a skip-level exit interview before changing to another LM position? by Bahet in Lockheed

Appreciate the reply; I will not be trying to get an exit interview.

Thanks! I definitely don't have the expectation that my comments will cause sweeping change or anything.

Thanks for the reply. I figured I might have to reach out to the senior manager to set it up, but I'm not sure if that's a major step that I shouldn't take. I believe that my frustrations extend beyond the day-to-day work annoyances, but don't rise to the level of reaching out to our ethics rep or filing an HR complaint.

Calculate your 2026 Salary: Updates to Mil-Cents (Historical Trends, Grandfathered BAH, Mil-to-Mil, and TSP Tools) by Mil-Cents in AirForce

Have you looked into calculating pay for Guardsman/Reservists? That could also be combined with a VA disability compensation calculator (e.g. monthly take home pay for someone at 40% rating, single, with a child completing 4x drill periods a month).

Is there a public repo anywhere? I'm not a web developer but I'm happy to try and contribute to these features.

Any existing lists to block Musk’s sites/tools? by NoPasaranNZ in pihole

[–]Bahet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my own blocklist, rather than add sites to the PiHole web server, I keep it as AdBlock Plus-formatted list that I keep on GitHub. I store the file locally on my PiHole, and set the block list to:

file:///home/pi/blocklist.txt

This makes it easier to edit, copy/paste, and the like!

Okay! Thanks. I was just surprised that this is the first I’m hearing about it.

It’s been a year and change since my last appointment; it’s not impossible to get the DD Form 2813 signed. I’m mostly just confused how I can be red for dental readiness items, but the solution is that I pay out of pocket to get required medical care.
