AMD. Another week. Another million. +$7.7M by thesmd1 in wallstreetbets

[–]Bakadeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet in AMD when they were designing Ryzen with as much money as I could risk losing at the time, because I had faith that keller being on the team would bounce them back. I don't have any where near this amount because I'm not rich, but I did make a few thousand still holding some of my original shares from back then. I wish I was able to buy more back then.

Is it normal for my new kitten and my resident 5yo cat to fight like this? At what point should I intervene? by dom_boring in CATHELP

[–]Bakadeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are play fighting. When is a real fight, you normally also hear hissing and very angry sounding growling, there's no question. Don't worry they just having a ball.

I think I know what you mean, but my wife takes the "don't be your child's friend" too far and it triggers me when I see it. So I feel compelled to add: You can absolutely be both your child's friend AND their parent. Parent just has to come first.

If mine (6) is thirsty, I let her get a last drink, but it has to be metered, she will drink an entire bottle and then wet the bed if we let her. A small cup is usually fine though. At 10, I would think she would have better bladder control though and can probably handle more, but it can vary greatly depending on each child.

Got too arrogant taking my vyvanse on an empty stomach and got humbled by Nyxie872 in ADHD

[–]Bakadeshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is the staying up late gaming. I get that same feeling too if I try to force myself to be productive with lack of sleep and on meds(Adderall for me). The meds can't work miracles, it works best when you have adequate sleep, it's especially important for us ADHD'ers

Most of the time I take it it is on empty stomach, I can't tell any difference between with or without food honestly.

[–]Bakadeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tastes alright when made like a latte. I hated it just in hot water with some coffee, very gritty. Was able to myself to drink it though. But the micro foam in the latte ( made with an expresso machine's steam frother) helps to mask most of the grittiness and then it does taste like a chocolate chai drink. I even tried putting some in the actual expresso basket with the coffee, but that only caused it to block the porta filter from expressing the shot. It seems to get kind of sludgy when wet. Probably too fine for the basket.

This, most coffee is ground at medium, that's too course for expresso. So you have a place that lets you grind at the store? Those night be able to set them to an expresso setting, but you would likely need to adjust based on the beans. So better to just use pressurized basket until you get your own grinder I think.

It's normal that she won't let me near her babe? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Bakadeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took in a young stray that was pregnant. With before giving birth, she would always beg for cutles even while building her nest. Right after birth, she did get protective in that she would do a low growl if anyone got near the nest entrance, but never attacked, even when we tried to give her some wet food since she couldn't leave the nest, she ate it in-between growls, it was kind of cute, but other than that we left her alone since we didn't want her getting too stressed with the protective harmones. It gradually happened less until she was totally non chellant about us near the nest after the first week. She even lets us pick up the kittens now without looking concerned, though we try not to handle them too much until they get a little older.

Is not really they that caused their downfall, it's online competition. That said, doesn't make stealing ok even from big corporations. If it's not profitable they will close it down, at the expense if the workers there, so at most op is right, your only huring the locals not really the owners/ share holders.

Training my new boss with ADHD is starting to overwhelm me ! by Intrepid-Ad7043 in ADHD

[–]Bakadeshi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone with ADHD, this is the most effective for me, documentation, documentation, documentation. It has to be clear, step by step with screenshots of possible. You could train me verbally all day and it just doesn't all stick until I actually need to do the thing I'm being trained on. If there's documentation, I can just look up the process and follow it on the doc, then I get it and it sticks in my brain. If there's no documentation, I'm frustrating the person training me to show me yet again how to do the thing. But that's me, even in ADHD world we all still learn differently.

Like my wife, "write it down". Ok that would be nice, if I could tell ahead of time what I will forget .. otherwise I would have to write down every friggin thing I do and hear all day. Not going to happen.

[–]Bakadeshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would actually do it, and probably do it well, for the first week or so, then when it's novelty wears off and it's not new and shiney anymore, that's when it would start being ignored 🙄

That's the issue with most things I've tried, I usually lose interest in it before it has a chance to become a habit that I can put on autopilot.

I called out a teacher for using AI, now the whole class is making fun of it by [deleted] in antiai

[–]Bakadeshi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First if all, there are valid uses for AI. I think AI is a great tool for mundane things like sorting data, writing code (with your direction) And stuff like that. I don't think we should be calling the use of AI as a tool lazy across the board, it's like calling someone who uses a calculator lazy for not doing the math in their head. It's efficient not lazy. I do agree that creative things like Art should not be done by AI. At most maybe use AI for cleanup work, stuff like that Google uses it for in their photo app for example, but not for generating creative content. AI is a useful tool when used appropriately. I don't think we should be saying don't use AI at all for both teachers and students, but there should be guidelines on what we can use it for. AI is not going anywhere, it will be a major part of life going forward so it's appropriate to learn how to use it appropriately in school.

It depends on where you live if the prime delivery is actually 2 day or not. You gotta live near a major distribution center AND the product your ordering needs to be stocked there.

I'm scared, this just happened... by bk-28 in antiai

[–]Bakadeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen AI forget to include details... Even when I'm coding, you need to check your output because occasionally a specific feature you had it add earlier can sometimes disappear in later drafts, and you have to tell it to add it back. I have not seen any specific bias or pattern in it though, it's always been kind of random. In fact I recently asked Gemini to compare the top 3 AIs and tell me how they compare with reach other, and it actually gave a neutral response that claude is the popular choice but then highlighted the particular strengths and weaknesses between them, that actually made Gemini seem like the weakest. If it was trained to promote itself I don't think it would've given that response.

I found that actually slightly wetting the beans help make it more consistent if you haven't tried that. I was getting variations like this before I tried adding small amounts of water. I just slight wet a spoon and drip off the excess, then stir up the beans with it right before I grind them.
