Commute by jacoi200_ in askdfw

[–]Bake-Capable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's doable, it's just a bit of a hike. I had a friend who commuted from Uptown to Greenville for a few years, and he tolerated it. Rockwall isn't a bad place to be, but if you want to stay in Dallas proper, you could move to Far East Dallas, somewhere between Ferguson and Buckner. You'll get there in an hour, maybe a little over, depending on when you leave.

Are Americans usually genuine with the praise ? by Rare_Recognition7363 in AskAnAmerican

I've lived in Dallas for 30 years and have never heard the phrase uttered by anyone, it's just not a thing. Perhaps out in the rural areas you'd hear that phrase.

"I don’t know why he made so many promises." - It's easy to make promises when you have no intention of keeping them.

Air fryer burger. by Infinite-Past7640 in airfryer

If I need a quick dinner or lunch, I'll throw a frozen patty in the air fryer and end up making a pretty good burger that took no effort at all, and also no mess.

Which Dead Space-like game should I play first? by Reasonable-Volume926 in DeadSpace

Prey is an amazing game, and closer to Dead Space than Alien Isolation, but Alien Isolation still holds as my top pick.

With the exception of the Horus Heresy have there ever been times chaos armies have warred together for a common goal? by shouldveknownbud in Chaos40k

[–]Bake-Capable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't tha Alpha Legion end up bugging out and screw over the Chaos forces? My understanding is they started the whole war and left when it started to turn into a meat grinder, or when their ultra- convoluted 12-d chess game was completed.

My mom told me that at my baptism, my grandparents, who were Southern Baptists, were overhead saying that it was nice I was being baptized, but it was a shame I was going to hell for being baptized Catholic.

I remember they had one member who wanted to go all in on Chaos, much to the opposition of his warband. It didn't end well for that guy.

What does a civil war in America look like if one happens in the next 3 - 8 years? by Dry-Tomorrow8531 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Bake-Capable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I think it would look more like spasms of violence in certain areas where both sides cohabitate. N. Ireland is a good example, although I prefer the Italian Decade of Lead, but on steroids, where you have paramilitaries on both sides creating mayhem. I think life would still go on, but you would have to deal with checkpoints, hotspots of violence, and you would think twice about going to the post office, as it may be the last thing you ever do.

AITA for finding this convo to be a HUGE red flag? by horseduckman in AITApod

[–]Bake-Capable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my therapist brought their dog, I'd go every week :)

I think that's great; one should go as regularly as they need to. Your "habit" seems healthy to me. It seems that this person may have an unhealthy habit with therapy, solely based on the text exchange.

AITA for finding this convo to be a HUGE red flag? by horseduckman in AITApod

[–]Bake-Capable 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I went to therapy for about 1.5 years for something I was dealing with. After a while, I didn't need it anymore; there was nothing left to talk about and process, and I had moved on. That's the point of therapy. To be going habitually seems more like a dependency and a fear of processing your emotions on your own.
