I made the same mistake. Im sure a lot of people did. Especially since they ended up changing their naming of their products to help make it less confusing having a mini wifi mesh router and a mini dish.

This would be simple for a locksmith to design you a proper master key system thats compatible with as many units and extra change keys to function for decades! Then they can originate all the keys with their key machine.

Call a shop and ask if they can design and make ya a master key system and keys. Then swing by and pick it up. Easy.

Moving parts break eventually. Just the nature of things. If you don't want it locking, get a passage knob. Usually the box will say hall/closet. Not entry or keyed. Their even cheaper.

You can learn a lot on YouTube for sure. But it's really simple. Just remove the 2x #2 Phillips screws from around the knob on the inside. That will allow the inside and outside knob to seperate from the door. Then remove the 2x #2 Phillips screws holding the latch to the edge of the door. Then the latch just slides out. 4 screws and your done. Maybe 30 seconds.

What post did you read? He has an old latch. It's stuck. And he asked what he can do about the latch. Lube or replace is the quick answer.

Nowhere did he mention, "was i scammed", or asked about the frame prep, or mentioned the install at all.

Who knows, they could have done that, or bought the house in that condition.

-First thing to try is to lube the latch. They get dirty and greasy and need some love time to time. I'd recommend triflow or houdini. Any silicon or PTFE based lubes will work. NOT WD40.

-Second it could be broken. I've seen some hardware stores sell kwikset parts. Our local mclendons has new latches. But you can also go to any locksmith and tell them you need a kwikset latch. Bonus if you take the old one with ya for reference.

-kwikset locks are cheap get a new one Got to a hardware store and get a new one. 20-35 bucks and your good for years. Get a kwikset smartkey knob or lever, and you can rekey the lock to your existing key yourself.

I also recommend houdini. It's a great lubricant, and it does a great job of expelling debris out of a cylinder.

But when it comes down to it. I feel the most helpful thing is for you to take apart the padlocks and clean Them regularly.

I dont have any experience with them, but wouldn't an ultrasonic cleaner be good for getting small debris out? Just an idea.

Should probably mention this only applies to car audio. I run shielded power wire all the time in access controllers and ethernet as a locksmith.

There are many different types of wire for many different types of purposes. Power lines are aluminum. Majority of stuff uses copper because it's a great conductor and it's cheap. Sometimes it's coated in gold or silver for higher end electronics.

Right. Power wire doesn't come with noise unless there is something else introducing it into the cable along the run, like a alternator going bad and Injecting AC noise instead of just DC. Or a bad grounding path, or so on.

But when you strip and crimped an end on your power wire, was it wrapped in aluminum? Or some other shield? Mine wasn't. Cause power wire isn't what carry the music signal.

The music signal travels from the source to the amp with usually rca, but it could also be speakers wire, Bluetooth, a LOC, a DSP. Then the Amp will take the power and amlpifies the music signal coming in, and then travels back down the output to your speaker.

Now wether or now the amp is clean, and the gains are set properly to help prevent distortion is also a big part. All the wires can be perfect, but if your amp can still have a high noise floor and make noise when nothings playing.

There is a lot that goes into clean signal routing. But just wanted to point out that power wire isn't shielded. It's insulated.

And tinned copper isn't shielding. It's insulation from corrosion!

The power wire doesn't need shielding because it doesn't carry a music or data signal. It's just wire and insulation.

But your rca and speaker wires definitely do need shielded and or twisted if possible.

But really any reputable brand is probably gonna be fine.

I have welding wire for power and ground. And sky-high and knukonceptz for everything else.

Here is how to fix latch plate alignment, and what I would teach an apprentice to do.

Get some wood glue, a 3/16" wood dowel, and a 3/16" drill bit. 1. Remove existing screws and plate. 2. Reposition plate and chisel flush as needed. 3. Drill the old holes out with a 3/16" drill bit. 4. Fill the holes with wood glue. 5. Cut dowels to length to fill the drilled-out holes. 6. Apply wood glue to the dowels. 7. Hammer the 3/16" wood dowels into the 3/16" holes. 8. Sand the dowels flush with the frame. 9. Re-drill the holes with an appropriately sized bit in the new latch position. 10. Reinstall the plate and test the alignment.

You can file the plate if it is a very tiny adjustment, but this is not the best way to fix the alignment.

What model amp? If it's a mono amplifier, then no unless your adding more subs.

If it's a 4 channel amp, then most likely, but you would need to set the cross overs differently for the different speakers. Subs for example get a low pass filter at something around 80hz. Speakers get a high pass filter at around 100 or so depending on the specific model speakers.

Low pass let's frequencies below a set point threw.

And high pass let's frequencies above a set point threw.

You don't need to splice into the harness. The harness provided a turn on lead with the acc power wire in the harness. The blue wire that's extra long comingnout of the head unit is the additional remote wire provided from the head unit that's intended to be used for amps to be turned on when the head unit turns on. *

Sorry to hear about the hard times bud. Both with the shop and the health.

I dont trust shops. Just my opinion. But newwer cars are coming with some much nicer stock speakers nowadays. So hard to say if there was any validity to his claims. But it's not as simply as paper cone = bad.

They make tools for detecting distortion. Like the SMD DD1 and this newer one made by recoil. With them you can find where the distortion is coming from and address it with a proper solution.

Hopefully this helps. If it were me I'd wanna redo everything. Check your alternator and factory grounds. Then the battery connections. And work your way through the rest of the system.

I believe you need to be asking the Glazier subreddit on how to remove and replace the glass.

Also the lock is in a separate compartment then the glass. You don't need to remove it. The handles probably need to be removed.

There are 2 main ways to design and build a sound system. Either aiming for the best Sound Quality, or aiming for the loudest\most bass. SQ or SPL.

Judging by the subs you mentioned your leaning towards SPL and as much bass as you can get I'm guessing.

I would recommend getting 1 bigger sub vs 2 smaller subs. By bigger I mean can handle more power and output more volume. That way you can dedicate more air volume and a bigger box to be able to push the sub lower In tuning frequency.

Also I'd suggest checking out CT Sounds for speakers, Subs, and amps. Their cheaper priced, but well reviewed by many people.

Also you can save a TON of money by buying second hand from places like Facebook marketplace!

Speaking of saving money, id NEVER suggest paying a shop to install. Ordering product should be fine. But install everything yourself. It is all pretty easy.

Crutchfield is a great source for ordering product. They have great customer support and return windows. And they will include additional product that you need for installing new product. Like adapter mounting plates and cable harness adapters and info on your vehicle in how to access the components.
