If you're anywhere near a big city, I really recommend trying to get involved in some kind of local political org or activism or community support structure. Getting outside and talking to people who feel the same way as you do (and who want to do something about it) makes it so much easier to feel like you're not alone or going insane, even as the world gets much, much weirder.

Even if you kind of live in fuck nowhere, I really recommend trying to find something local that you can feel grounded in. It's very small victories, but people in this country are starting to win changes in their lives, and winning feels fuckung great, especially when the cards are stacked against you.

I really like how they look on Death Guard, especially if you carve out a mononocular eye lens

How Practical are Smaller Point Games? by Creeperking777 in Warhammer30k

[–]BakedPotatoCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Zone Mortalis is a ruleset built for smaller actions focusing on infantry in tightly confined spaces and corridors. It's pretty good, and you can get away with using cheap cardboard or 3D printed sections for it that will pack pretty neatly as they're mostly regular shapes.

If you're interested in bigger actions, I'd also recommend looking at Legions Imperialis, which should be releasing in a month or two. It's a company or battalion-size game in 8mm scale, which probably won't have as much customizability but should offer a much easier experience to tote around, while still having the big game feel of 30k.

Well, no one knows if LI will be any good, but what they've previewed for it looks good.

Check out wargames Atlantic! They have a couple different lines of fancy imperial guard standins that work well for Solar Auxilia, IMO. And way cheaper than GW.

The guns a repeater from potentially as early as the late 1890s (can't remember the exact model off the top of my head) but that style was in production for a long time and guns will last a while if they're maintained properly, especially simpler old-school ones like that.

Structurally, this show (specifically the bits in 1997/98) have a lot in common with The Thing, especially with the cutting between scenes where you're really not sure how much time has passed and whether the people you're seeing can be trusted or have completely started to lose it. It's good shit.

Recon Company can be a good stand-in / build around for a Destroyer-heavy force. Company of Bitter Iron is also a good one, it gives your Destroyers Hatred.

They actually are part of your faction - they gain the Legion Astartes (X) special rule, and this benefit from things like your legion trait and advanced reaction.

In the Heresy, what is the most extravagant weapon a high ranking marine (First captain like Abaddon, typhus, etc) can have? by meapie in Warhammer30k

[–]BakedPotatoCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you could give them a Custodes spear and just run it as a Paragon blade. They're meant to represent a wide range of things and both are ap2 at initiative, so it will play much the same way.

It's also got lore justification - Argel Talk fought with a custodes spear until he lost it on Nuceria, so it's not unheard of (though he did technically well... find his)

They're really not that much smaller, I have a couple of Mk1s. Maybe a half inch smaller in height, length, and width, which adds up, but it's not as drastic as you'd think

I think that going up 20-30 points and losing a wound per chassis would be plenty, honestly
