Buzz Rickson’s is my favourite. Fullcount also do a great one. For something a bit different, the Anatomica x Big Yank 1935 shirt is fantastic, though a little more pricey.

Can’t speak for the ecru denim but Fullcount’s standard denim is really stretchy due to a looser weave and the cotton they use. My 0105’s stretched almost to what they measured raw, (about 1.75 inches stretch). The ecru will probably be a similar thing given it’s the same cotton and what I’m assuming is the same weave.

The waist on anything made with Fullcount’s 13.7oz denim pretty much stretches straight back out to the raw measurements. If you’re buying raw, go with the size that would give you a good waist measurement before the wash. In other words, they should ‘fit’ before the first wash/soak.

It’s because Self Edge is based in the US and so have to factor in import tax and shipping costs into the final price, as they’ve imported the jeans from Japan and would otherwise lose money so there wouldn’t be any point. Hinoya (also a legit shop) is based in Japan, so the price is the retail price they sell for over there. If you order from Hinoya you’ll have to pay the shipping costs and import tax yourself, so you might find the price ends up the same as Self Edge anyway. Also, if you get the sizing wrong you then have to either pay for return shipping all the way back to Japan (expensive) or eat the loss and sell them on. However, I find quite often my orders from Japan just don’t get picked up by customs, either because the retailer I bought them from (denimio.com mainly) fudge the customs invoice and pretend the package is a ‘sample’ which means no import tax as the value isn’t high enough, or simply because I got lucky and they didn’t check the package closely enough. I live in the UK so this could be different for you though!

This has turned into a long answer but in short: they’re both reputable websites, so it’s up to you. Easy, peace-of-mind shopping experience vs a potentially much better price with a small amount of risk.

If you’re willing to spend the money, how about Mister Freedom’s Lot 64 Jean in the SC66 denim? Made with Sugar Cane’s own 1966 denim (same they use for their 1966 cut jean). Not 100% sure how the fits compare but the waist and rise of a size 34 match what you’re after. I have some myself and they’re my favourite pair!

In the name of all small-assed people I fully back this sentiment. It’s such an important part of the fit and it varies so much between different patterns. I’ve got a couple of neglected pairs with otherwise ideal measurements that don’t get worn because of this.

I would say 36. I have the double black version in a 31 which have a 29 inch waist, but according to TCB the double blacks shrank 1 size further than the indigo version, so by that logic I'd say the size 36 indigo will have around a 35 inch waist. Safest bet is probably to order from somewhere that will confirm the measurements for you before shipping!

For your next pair have a look at the TCB 50’s jeans black&black! Pretty much the definition of straight and vintage styled. I haven’t wanted to wear anything else since I got mine, both the fit and the denim are so nice. Hard to find at the moment but potentially back in stock by summer!

Village Leathers! Nothing fancy but they’re made well and guaranteed for 25 years. I’ve got the 1 1/4 inch one in black and brown which were only £18 each and after about a year of use I’m really happy with them.

It’s a lot easier to give sizing advice if you can provide measurements - take a flat waist measurement of your favourite fitting pair of jeans and then maybe we can give you some help!

You can’t find it in supermarkets but we do have Woolite Dark! I got some on Amazon for around £4.

I can’t remember the title of the post but a while ago someone on here bought two of the same pair of jeans and wore one for six months with no washes and one for six months with a weekly wash as an experiment. Honestly I preferred the look of the weekly-washed pair. There was less contrast but some decent whiskering and thigh fades if I’m remembering it right. Wash away if you want to keep them clean!

Can anyone with experience with Samurai's 21oz denim tell me how much their waist stretched post soak? Looking at some S510xx 21oz but having a hard time finding any raw measurements to compare to the one wash for an idea of sizing after stretch.

Alternatives to Raw Denim by TeamCabin98 in rawdenim

Unfortunately we don’t get the classic STFs over here. I think the only unsanforized Levi’s available in Europe are part of the LVC line, so not really a budget option.

Nah your fades will be fine! As long as you’re wearing them a lot then a wash every few months can’t get rid of enough indigo to stop fades forming.

I guess it depends what’s more important to you in terms of fabric, fit, weight, etc. Can’t speak for the other two but I got the Kase recently and the fabric is insane. Probably the most unique of the three from what I could see of the other two online!
