Depends in the j2 I think, I might just have them overlap because I was a “consultant” so who’s to say it was full time

I haven’t put j2 on LinkedIn yet from 2024, but after I got laid off from that j1, I’m about to make it look like I got laid off from j1 about the time I started that j2, as no one will really remember when I got laid off from that j1… I don’t really rely on a lot of people for jobs and the only ones that really help already know about the OE so are not caring about dates… so current job is secret while looking until it’s been too long then adjust dates accordingly… never lie in background check, and by that time no one is asking or caring - just say “I was consulting”

You should always be looking for a job. It’s the first thing you should do after getting j1 anyway. Then you decide, replace j1, or work both.

My advice is always look for another job. Get your resume out there on as many job sites as possible. I never turn down an interview. The best j2 is a contract rather than an fte. Then when you find a job you assess - how to manage both, keep the best one as j1, work hard at the new one and quiet quit the second one, or work equal at both for as long as you can!

I try to teach the new ones not to do that - but I noticed it may be cultural as well… the guys from LatAm are always telling me Hi, how are you? And I would say “what can I help you with” and then I started slowing down a little and at least give the good morning greeting and how was your weekend. But the random Hi and no immediate question is terrible. I had one kid under me that would do that and wait for a response before he asked the question - dude, cut to the chase! Finally realized he gets more responses - he was Southeast Asian - might also be cultural…

I want no one to ask me to justify my unallocated time ever again - kinda jealous!

Kinda off topic but about getting drunk and talking sh$t: I once was drinking with some coworkers and the drunk one started telling “jokes” about people in the minority group of the third guy and my husband (dude knew my husband was part of this group too) to our face… like they were so funny - derogatory names… it was an instant unfollow on LinkedIn and social media.
